Gonçalves conectting more kicks, jabs, more elbows, more knee's best footwork, fell Rodtang, best timing but, loose because distance control? If u wanna hit in something stationary , fight with one sand bag!!!
This was an exciting fight at times…. But I understand Rodtang’s frustration at Gongalves constantly backing away. Why should the champion HAVE TO chase down the challenger?? I’m not saying you can never back up, but this was a little ridiculous.
Yeah they dont call him the tank for nothing 😂😅. I see where your coming from though tai fighting is a consistent forward never back down maximize damage with volume and high levels of speed and force. Understood but on the other hand your body is your tool and without that tool you cant continue to make money plus idk if you ever been kicked likevthat but it hurts like hell and penetrates to the bone especially if you don't see it coming. Mobility angles counters are your best weapon against a tank thats common knowledge. Sometimes to win a fight it's not necessarily how fun it is to watch or how action packed it is. Much like watching mma and watching dudes grapple when they could stand people dog them but the reality is most every fight goes to the ground and you must be able to survive. Same with stand up sometimes it's not pretty and you have to fight off the back foot to win much the same way as life. People forget fighting is not about entertainment infact martial arts was never meant to be put on spectacle as competition to make money at in the first place it was designed for survival and war. To some degree, having these arts being used to make money for fame is kind of disrespectful, making them more of thugs for hire in a way for games. Bet some of these masters are rolling in their graves. Just my 2 cents. But hey, times have changed. And in martial arts, a common thing among all of them is to use your surroundings to win. Although I believe backward movement is fround upon here. And will be ruled rodrang unless he's knocked out or it's one-sided. But he made rodtang hurt you can see it.
It was a lot ridiculous. He never took a forward step the entire fight, and even shot for a couple takedowns. Walter didn't want to exchange because he knew what would happen
Never took a step forward the entire fight. Fought on the back foot trying to play the point fighting Counter-Strike game. Obviously a losing strategy. Homeboy even shot for a couple takedowns to try and stay out of danger
@@Idkwutimdoin had he just used his angles like he did that on point in round 2 3 I think and kept the center of the ring he couldve caught him again. He just kept his back to the cage for some reason against the fence even when rodtang wasn't on him🤷🏿♂️
I think the trick to beating Rodtang in a 5 round fight is LOTS of jabs, teeps, straight punches, trips/throws and short, tight hooks. You’d probably have to have the fight stopped by a doctor before he ever gave up though. Throwing wide hooks just doesn’t land on him or affect him. It’s a huge waste of energy just like leg and body kicks. Nothing seems to affect the guy, but everybody bleeds at a certain point. And the teeps and trips and throws only serve to annoy and irritate him so he makes mistakes rushing into the jabs and straights. Goncalves probably has done the best job against him, but if he incorporated more straights and jabs, staying light on the feet, he probably would have been able to cut him up enough to edge out a victory imo
I'd say Haggerty's gameplan in their first fight was the best. His keeping his distance and using his height advantage. Especially using his teeps to keep rodtang at bay, then delivering a killer elbow or straight. I'd say you just wanne focus on keeping distance cause once you go to CQC with Rodtang it's over.
I am a huge Rodtang Fan, I didn't even know Goncalves existed before I watched this match. Goncalves won this fight with superior technique and strategy.
Pushed to the limit? Yeah not even close. Pushed to the limit was against Haggerty in their first fight and definitely against Superlek. This was just the champion chasing down an opponent that ran all fight. There's countering and moving on your bicycle and then there's running, you know what this was. Clickbait title lol
I don't know what you all have, Goncalves put up a really good fight, you don't see that often. I love Rodtang but I rewound the fight more because of the opponent because he had more highlights than Rodtang, in my opinion. And when you fight against someone like Rodtang, it's clear that you try to get hit as little as possible ^^
It is hard to judge this match. First of all in the beggining Goncalves was defenetly dominated the figth, and Rodtang did than that dirty move with pushing Goncalves eyes with his fingers. (the match had to stop for 3 minutes)... also his reaction was add acting like his opponent just faking the eye injury. After this Goncalves lost some of his momentum defenetly, he become more defensive. No question Rodtang had powerful punches, but I think both of them scored equal amount of strikes and Goncalves at least landed 3 head kicks... so I don't know, in my opinion Goncalves deserved more the win... I think against Rodtang style these type of matches not the best fit, I would make a the match last till one of the opponen gives up kind of tournament.
Govcalves put up a decent fight and had Rodtang worried a few times, people complain that he was always backing up but Rodtang only ever moves forwards.. man is not afraid to clash and brute force his way through encounters.
There was a reverse situation 😂😂 Challenger must chase and fight to champion, but the situation was reverse😂😂 Goncalves.. did he really want to get champion's belt? Why did he so much retreat and run out? It was a sorrowful situation for Muay Thai athletic because retreaters and runners stepped into it's ring😢
Bad referee. We missed out on alot of clench work and trips/drops. I see why rods angry but there's not alot of flyweights on earth that will walk you down rod. A back step is acceptable and necessary, but to fight off the back foot or attempt too is a difficult position to be in.
There were two completely illegal lift and throw down by Walter and he even came at Rodtang low Luke he was trying a take down ?? What the Fuck !!!! Ran backwards whole night . The challenger must come and take the belt from champ …., there’s no way this was a split decision … dusapointed in referee and judges and Gonzales !! Rodtang wanted to fight not cat and mouse chasing all night .
Why why are you using open finger glows in a Thai style fight. Beyond ridiculous when you have fairtex logo on your ring, ask them for some light gloves.
I get that Goncalves is skilled, but dude just screams snake to me. Fakes respect, and then mocks you. And what is with those dirty tricks, not only running the whole fight but goes to the ground when he is about to get hit in the face and then wrestles to avoid Rodtang's offense. Dude literally shot a double leg... smh, he should just do MMA if he likes wrestling so much
