The new ROG Ally X brings a lot to the table with a design update, 24GB ram and better storage expansion. but is this a better upgrade to the original ROG Ally. Let's find out!
I've pre ordered the Ally X but would it kill Asus to not use the red pcb boards because it makes the insides look cheap. I would of preferred black pcb's instead just looks way better and for the price too we're paying come on Asus🙄
@@karma.2781 the display. The X has like a gloss coat. I dunno what you’re watching the video on but on my 4k display there’s a lot of reflection and the white isn’t showing. The black colors in the display are nice.
I don't like the location of those usb ports, right infront of the heat exhaust vents. We know how much heat the original Ally gives off. So having your power lead going over that exhaust vent surely can't be good? Won't it end up with overheating the charging cable or even the actual charging port? At least on the original Ally, the usb port is in the center, between those 2 heat exhausts.
Nice video.. Brave of you to show performance numbers. I still don't know if I want to upgrade from the OG Ally. The increase in RAM size and speed will boost performance. I'm not sure if the potential 5%+ jump in performance (could be much more in some cases) will be enough to push current owners over the edge. I do like the improved buttons, speakers and storage options. The swappable analog is a killer feature. The battery upgrade is nice, but I play plugged in most of the time.
That extra 1TB full sided M. 2 2230 is big upgrade since it is way easier to find an upgrade and way cheaper than the previous one you can upgrade it to 2TB easily. Also the 24gb shared faster ram is great so users don't have to worry about how to allocate their pool of RAM. With 16GB for the system and 8GB for the GPU, plus an upgrade to 7500MHz speeds, games should run smoother than ever. Some games require 16gb ram and 8Rgb VRAM which like forspoken, horizon forbidden west, suicide squad, and Returnal so that extra 8gb shared VRAM is great for these games. Also that extra 3 thinner fans and vents and change the fan curves for better cooling and they also replaced the placement of the micro sd and the addition of thunderbolt 4 now you can plug any E-gpu if you want extra power.
@@narrowneptune5479 ??? I was literally about to buy the Ally X and then saw the awful things Asus does to their customers. I’ll just wait until Lenovo or other manufacturers equip something with more than 16GB ram. Asus lost a potential customer (me)
Bro plz stop it with the fake doom comparison! The difference in performance between the 2 handheld is no where near that much, just trying to sell the new product!!
@FernandoTorres-xm7db the original ally at 58 fps compared to over 100 on the x is false, they both have the same z1 extreme he's just messing with the settings to make one look better, typical salesman on RU-vid
Idk bro I had the ally and what made me return it after a few weeks was the battery. Lack of vram also.made most AAA games laggy. I welcome the new upgrade. I already put my order down and if I don't like it bestbuy doesn't ask questions they just take it back. But ultimately even though the steam deck has a hard time running most games above 30fps it keeps a high battery performance. The ally had to be used on max to get great gameplay and for 30-45 minutes that's just a solid no for me.
