It was late Nov 1981 and I was in a chartered plane taking off from an Air Force base in the Philippines on my way to San Diego, Calif for US Navy boot camp. Then I heard this song for the first time and really felt the lyrics and just remembered my mother and father and what they have sacrificed for me and the rest of my siblings! After more than 3 decades, it has been a great journey so far. I will forever be thankful to both my parents! You're always in my heart and mind!
On official category record, the song genre is rock. The song rhythm is slow but still in a rock category. There were songs that were created and categorized as slow rock.
Sometimes the mood strikes to take off the rock and roll shoes and mellow out now and then. Roger delivers nicely here and I find myself humming this from time to time. Bandmate Peter Townshend did the same thing the same year with "Let My Love Open the Door" which reached #9 in the USA. What I don't understand is how 43 years have gone by so quickly.
Hard to imagine that this beautiful, peaceful song was sung by one of the wild men in Rock 'n' Roll, Mr. Roger Daltrey. Considering The Who's antics on stage. I love this song.

Essa melodia é uma mistura de alegria e tristeza, lembranças e solidão....Coisas que só um coração solitário sabe descrever... Disso eu tenho certeza!!!
The most beautiful love song of all time when you listen to it you will be thinking of your first love of many years ago Roger Daltrey is the greatest singer in music history.
Yun ba sasakay kami ni mama back 80s to early 90s.Madaanan ang maraming kahoy at malamig ng simoy ng hangin.Pagsapit ng hapon maaga magsaing dahil bihira pa ang kuryente.
This song and "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" by The Korgis are the soundtrack to my life in the Fall of 1980. Just married, still enjoying the honeymoon period. Beautiful. Then life went on and I learned to hate that person.....and she did the same for me. We made it quite easy for each other. Now I have another life, with other lovely theme songs. But this one's still in my historical archive, and in my heart. Beautiful.
Just heard this song for the first time in a long time on an old Casey Kasem AT40 countdown from 1980. I used to love this song but forgot about it because radio never plays it anymore. How sad.
Thank You …..❤️❤️❤️heard this on the radio the other day… oh my gosh…. I forgot all about this Beautiful Song….. lots of good memories ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊😊😊😊
This Song was Telling All About The Necessity of Our True Love...Lesson,,,While They Are Still In Your Lives...Let Us Show Them How Much We Care...So,,,When Everything was Ended We Don't Have Any Hesitation...Love Is The Best Gift That God Gave For Us! Thank You For This Lovely Music...Which Reminds Everyone of Us...On How To Be Sincere...In The Name of...'LOVE"...❤😍😘✌👏👍
I was born in Mexico and when I was a kid I had a short wave radio And I used to listen radio stations from USA and I always wonder ; what this beautiful song said. And now that I know a little bit English I love the song .
I wanted this to be my wedding song. But my ex insisted on something mainstream and done a thousand times. So the choice made was Elvis - Can't Help Falling in Love With You....BORING!!! The marriage lasted 18 months. So i am forever thankful because one of my favorite Daltry songs of all time wasn't tarnished by my failed marriage. :)
I remember this song well but haven't heard it in so long. I don't know why but it reminds me of my cousin who was sick and just recently passed. I was driving his vehicle when I heard this the first time. I have played it many times in the past week and each time it brings tears in memory of a guy I admired so much. Thanks
Panahong di kailangan magpunta ng province para maranasan ang tahimik na lugar.Sarap balikan ang middle 80s to early 90s.Nung bihira pa lang ang kotse at kahit bihira kuryente masaya.
This was the song playing at the radio when i stepped in the car after i gave birth at my stillborn son Eli in the hospital, every year at march 20th i listen to this song... R.I.P Eli, march 20- 2007
Wow! I haven't heard this since it was released. What a nice piece of music by Mr. Daltrey. Of course at the time, I didn't know it was him. Thank you for that posting.
One of the best love songs every written..... THE WORDS You can show me the way Give me a sunny day What does it mean without your love? And if I could travel far If I could touch the stars Where would I be without your love? Whenever I get to feel, down and out I think about what you said and then, I give up. If I could fly away If I could sail today Where would I go without your love? You can show me the way And give me a sunny day What does it mean without your love? And if I could travel far If I could touch the stars Where would I be without your love? And if I ever wander away too far You come looking for me with, open arms I could forget my home, Feel like a rolling stone But who would I be without your love? And what does it mean without your love? Where would I be?
I'm glad you put the song up, but oh, man, you really blew the lyrics, though. You can show me the way Give me a sunny day But what does it mean Without your love And if I could travel far If I could touch the stars Where would I be Without your love Whenever I get to feeling Down and out I think about what you said And then I'd give out And if I could fly away If I could sail today Where would I go Without your love You can show me the way And give me a sunny day But what does it mean Without your love And if I could travel far If I could touch the stars Where would I be Without your love And if I ever wonder away Too far You'd come looking for me with Open arms I could forget my home Be like a rolling stone But who would I be Without your love And what does it mean Without your love Where would I be?
Wow, this haunting hypnotizing song is like one of the two best rock ballads ever made, along with Beth by Kiss, both made before rock ballads became really popular.
I love this song forever...beautiful memories comes up again☺️☺️ Do you remember the movie named Mc Vicar? This song is soundtrack from that movie...Staring by Mr Dartley himself...
You can show me the way, give me a sunny day, But what does it mean without your love? And if I could travel far, if I could touch the stars, Where would I be without your love? Whenever I get to feel down and out, I think about what you said and then I give out, If I could fly away, if I could sail today, Where would I go without your love? You can show me the way, & give me a sunny day, But what does it mean without your love? And if I could travel far, if I could touch the stars, Where would I be without your love? And if I ever wander away too far, Em you come a looking for me with open arms, I could forget my home, feel like a rolling stone, But who would I be without your love? And what does it mean without your love? Where would i be?................
