Ah yes this was the peak Fed. Faster than a cheetah with Djokovic like defence and best FH on the tour

It's incredible how Federer played that chip backhand return for decades and so few people learned how to counter that.

Agreed, and it hid the weakness that was his backhand. Today, players can't afford to have such weaknesses

Only the high balls exposed his backhand side. The backhand was always solid. In 2017 it was a very different shot. A complete transformation. @@EmperorsNewWardrobe

@@pawshands9706 true, the high balls exposed it, though I think players could've still looped it up to that high backhand more often

@@EmperorsNewWardrobe Before Roger changed that wing, heavy spin players like Nadal would break it down, but average players usually weren't as effective because Roger could chip the high ones to create opportunities for the forehand.

Federer forehand at his prime. And it´s amazing to see the evolution of his bh

Monfils' backhand has always been a bit passive. He only plays agressive backhand when he is cornered and has to play a passing shot and he does it well. I think he wouldv had a better career if he was a bit more agressive on it.

Just think. Djokovic won most of his slams and titles AFTER age 30. Which means he either peaked in his 30s, or simply got lucky playing in the weakest era of all time. Occam's Razor easily tells us which one of these assumptions is correct.

Exactly what I've been saying. Either Djoko is of Ben Button's lineage or he's facing a bunch of duds. I know which one's more plausible.
@NamTran-xc2ip

@@thesoccergod It really depends how you see it. I find an era where 3 players that never made a 2nd GS QF are GS finalists and champion is the weakest.

The very first service game Federer lost to 0. That was probably the only service game in 2005 and 2006 he lost to 0 from a total of more than 150 matches he played in those two years?!...

Can somebody please explain how this was super fast compared to the courts today? I mean seriously if it can be proven please tell me because i find it is an excuse from Federer fans and just mindless sheep throwing 'slow court' around.
