Playing Ferrero, Gonzalez, Hewitt and Roddick to win the title in 2005 and they claim this is a weak era. But playing Fuscovic, Shapovalov and Berrettini (2021) is somehow great competition.

Not to mention this year's US Open. An absolute joke of a draw.

Be for real, Roddick has nowhere near the athleticism and shots of Medvedev, Zverev and Alcaraz, Roddick is a terrible background player in comparaison, he is just a serving bot. Hewitt has no power in his shots, the court are slower now than they were back then, he would struggle to hit winners against the young players that are at average faster than the players from his generation, and that's actually a fact, it can be quantified. Ferrero and Gonzalez please.... Again in comparaison to Alcaraz and Medvedev, it's a joke. Djokovic has nothing to prove anymore, he dominated in the toughest era of tennis and even if you would consider this actual decade as weaker than the previous one, it's still way less weak than the "Federer's prime one".

@@unowen7591To be fair medvedev had to face alcaraz, rublev to his side. Ok, I believe without djokovic tennis will never be the same. Nevertheless, guys like medvedev, alcaraz, zverev, sinner, rune will be nice to watch them play.

@@KayleJudicatorprime Roddick on grass was far better than Berrettini and Kyrgios mate. Look at his 2004 and 2009 finals against Federer. Berrettini and Kyrgios would never push prime Federer on grass that much.

@@KayleJudicator LOL, this is a best of 3 era, almost every top "next gen" player has loss a final having a 2 set lead, Roddick would only have to hold his serve and they will self-destruct; Alcaraz its proven to be a more complete player but has to improve his consistency, also he barely played against Nole to be considered a true rival yet

I feel like prime Federer in this time period had a better forehand than when Novak began to get the better of him. Federer improved his backhand over time when he needed to take Nadal's topspin early, but during his prime that forehand could hit winners from anywhere...especially down the line...and he attacked the net at all times so effortlessly. It seems like after his prime the forehand was still great...but not quite as potent.
@rebecalinares5393
@rebecalinares5393 Год назад
exactly. Federer tried to improve his backhand but the only thing he got was worsening his forehand; since 2015 he hit better backhands and was able to beat Nadal a lot, but his forehand got worse and couldnt deal with Djokovic anymore. And that was evident when he played with a bigger raquet, just thinking about how to deal with Nadal only. So what benefited him on one hand hurt him on the other. Its like for Federer Djokovic didnt existed, he was stubborn and didnt tried to figure out how to beat him; never realized that the the worsening of his forehand was the main reason. Federer should have played Nadal with the bigger raquet and Djokovic with his former Wilson smaller version.

People forget that Roger is 5 years older than Rafa, and 6 years older than Andy and Novak. Novak came in at the end of Roger's prime (2003-2010) and Rafa's prime only overlapped with Novak's for a couple years due to the physical intensity of Rafa's playing style and the early start to his pro career (Rafa was already world #2 as a teenager). Andy Murray obviously had his joint injuries. Since Rafa's peak from 2007-2013 it's been a weak era of tennis, and it's when Djokovic won 18 of his 24 majors.

In his 2014 - 2021 years, Federer should have played Nadal with the bigger raquet and Djokovic with his former Wilson smaller version. It was evident that his bigger raquet improved his backhand but worsened his forehand; so he got better results against Nadal but his performance against Djokovic worsened. With the smaller Wilson, Federer had problems against Nadal, but performed better against Djokovic, and that was because he had a better forehand, which was his best weapon.

Very good point about racket size. It took fed years to adjust from a 90sq inch to settling with a 97. When he did it helped him to be more aggressive with the backhand against Nadal. However, I think Fed issues with Djokovic was probably down to age as he couldn't keep up with him in extended rallies. Also, 2011-17 that was peak Djoko period. Additonally, Fed had a terrible breakpoint conversion record against Djoko in that period. Especially at Sw19.

Novak couldn’t touch Prime Fedal. 2011 was not prime Federer and 2015-2016 was not prime Fedal. djokovic won only 7 slams when fedal were at peak form during 2006-2014 and rest of field were stronger that time. Post 2015, once fedal declined due to aging and injuries djokovic’s grandslam and big titles tally increased. He won 16 grandslams between 2015 to 2023 (weakest competition ever except Rafa at RG) and that was proved this year with no Rafa djokovic had cake walk draws and could win 2 slams. this year Alcaraz proved Djokovic has had it easy since 2019. He defeated a bunch of nobodies to reach us open finals. Novak is not goat. Berettini, anderson, tsitsipas, ruud and Kyrgios in finals of a grandslam and thats strong era for you ? 😂 Novax not goat and is the weakest era champion 😂
