Roger Hunt has died and was a member of that exclusive club of 11 England (football/soccer) players with a World Cup winners' medal and considered one of the greatest players ever to represent Liverpool. He died yesterday, after a long bout of illness, at the age of 83. His birthday was last July.

Sir Roger Hunt MBE was an English professional footballer who played as a forward. Eleven years with Liverpool, he was the club's record goalscorer with 286 goals until being overtaken by Ian Rush. Nonetheless, Hunt remains Liverpool's record league goalscorer with 244 goals.

I agree with you! I remember watching the match in '66 and I was an 11 year old girl watching the football with my Dad.

@@FLAMEH3ART Agree too, I also remember 66 ' I was 7 and reminds me of the time n Fab to be young and luvly memories of my parents too. Roger was a very acumlished footballer and modest too also he was very underrated and very quiet about it. Also his generation played proper carpet football and never complained of tiredness or the state of the pitch unlike today's Mamby Pamby and prima donnas. As the words of a song goes ... I was "born too late" for me to notice him! ... I was four in 1969 when he left Liverpool. I was brought up on my brothers memories of him and of course video/film clips Rest in peace Sir Roger!
