Joel, just a heads up, the whip of the bar is a direct function of diameter and length of shaft. Meaning all 28mm steel bars will whip the same REGARDLESS of tensile strength. A 28mm 140k psi bar will have the same whip is a 240k psi bar. I can't say the same is true for SS, since I don't know its properties, but true of other (quality) bars on the market.
LOL, exactly. Dudes who claim to be able to feel the difference in whip in one 28 mm barbell verses another are blowing smoke, period. Especially when squatting 135 and cleaning 250, like in this video.
Have this one on the way, Rogue Ohio bar Chrome/SS, should be here early next week....can't wait for this all round barbell. In Toronto, with winter coming on....can a barbell dry out from the freezing cold? lol
A SS Ohio bar is on sale now. $275. It has Matte Black sleeves to go with Matte Black November theme. I was going to get black e-coat but this was cheaper. It has great feel like a fine sand paper.
I simply want to bench press with a barbell. I have a Black Zinc Ohio Deadlift bar to pull with and I stopped squatting about 12 years ago...My max bench is only 320lbs...I will only bench, close bench, Spoto press, and slingshot press...Stainless Ohio bar, Rogue bar 2.0, or the Freedom bar...Which is the better candidate?🇺🇸
I'd have to agree. After using it for a few weeks, I like the bar and it looks and feels great but don't think it's a life changer over the other Ohio Bars. It will come in handy when humidity hits Atlanta next summer though.
Hi Joel, I'm hoping you can answer this question :). How would you compare the knurling between this Ohio SS Bar and the EU Bar? I'm looking for a oly training bar and I'm torn between the EU bar and the Eleiko NxG training bar. The reviews I read say that the EU bar's knurling could be sharper and the Eleiko NxG Training reviews say the knurling on that is too sharp for regular practice. I own a Ohio SS bar, so this is my only reference .. and as always, thanks for all your reviews!
Almost purchased one of the Synergee Barbells, saw you did something on them, was looking at the Regional (Olympic bar), you have any other thoughts on their bars?
I mean the ohio bar is meant to be an all-purpose bar right? so excessive spin would bad otherwise they would use needle bearings or something other than a bushing.
@@Isaiah-ft5nx I actually bought this bar a few months ago and the chrome seems pretty durable. The plating is thick and doesn't come off if you are doing regular powerlifting movements. If you do oly lifting and drop the bar a lot the plating starts to come off but it doesn't look super bad. The plating comes off faster if you use plates with sharp edges like competition or urethane plates. If you have something like the rogue echo bumpers it might last longer since the metal sleeve on the plate is rounded.
@@hwang1607 Perfect response! Thank you! I have the echo plates, and I may do some dropping, but probably not from overhead. I'll probably do chrome on a power bar and cerakote on an ohio bar for drops. Would you agree that would be the best to maintain as much rust prevention in florida? I don't want stainless steel.
@@Isaiah-ft5nx No problem! As long as its coated with something it should do fine against rust. Either chrome zinc or cerakote on the bar part. For the sleeves I wouldn't recommend cerakote since people say it comes off really easily when you put plates on. I would probably recommend stainless steel over everything since theres no coating to come off and it stays rust free
Is there anyway to increase the spin on bushing barbells? Is there some kind of oil or lubricant that be used to increase the spin the Rogue Ohio Bar's sleeve spin?
sean gallagher Rogue says to use Triflow, but most people will say to use white lithium grease. Triflow will get it spinning like crazy but grease will be better long term.
if i'm just trying to do olympic lifting, what bar do you recommend ? I have a bad wrist from playing football but still love to do olympic lifting. I need to get a good bar that has good spin that can help me stay safe
Dimitar Mihov I wouldn't expect there to be any difference in performance, just rust resistance. My EU bar feels exactly like my normal WL bar, which also feels exactly like my Rogue training bar.
Well my issue is that i want the WL bar experience WITH the stainless version. We do have humidity here. Also i'm worried that it might NOT live up to the whip & standart of the WL type of barbells so... i'm not 100% which to get. If it was like "10000% same bars, just one never corroses" -- i'd get stainless bars ONLY for our projects!
