Those walkers on Scarif are AT-ACTs, a little bit larger cargo transport version of the AT-AT. It wasn't meant for combat action and wasn't as heavy armored like the AT-AT, but still could defend itself with its two laser cannons. Also the rebels used X-Wings which have more potent weapons as the Snowspeeders on Hoth had. So the rebels could defeat them easier here.

What I love about this movie is it explains why Vader was so pissed at the start of A New Hope, he literally saw that ship escape with his own eyes and the princess had the balls to look dead at him and say no clue mate, yotcha talking about lol

Thanks, Two! 💽 Since you wondered, ANDOR began about 5 years before this. And remember when you finally get around to SOLO, it takes place a decade before this (just before OBI-WAN KENOBI). I'm glad you noticed "mustache guy" a.k.a. 'General Merrick' a.k.a. 'Blue Leader'. He's Ben Daniels. I first noticed him as 'Tony' in BEAUTIFUL THING (1996). #TwoReacts #StarWars #GarethEdwards #RogueOne #RogueOneAStarWarsStory

Different lines and scenes from Andor hit home differently after this, dont they? "You'll die fighting..." Nemik, "climb!" K2, "Climb." Andor in the prison, "no one is listening!" In R1, "think anyone is listening?" Theyre able to take out the AT-AT easier because the fighters are more heavily armed then the speeders. Fun fact, in Episode 4 they had to have Red and Gold squadrons because Blue contrasted with the Blue screens. They put Blue Squadron in Rogue One but had them get wiped out to explain why they arent present when attacking the Death Star.

27:13 Because on Hoth they use hover speeders that only have laser gun, good against infantry or light vehicles, AT-AT got better armour, X-Wings had a lot better laser but rebels used them to defend escaping ships.

Yes, Melchi is the Scottish guy from the prison in Andor; and those batons on Jyn's back??? Well I think they're used as 'signal paddles' to guide ships onto the landing pad (I think they were used as the stolen shuttle landed as well as when the star fighter squadron was scrambled to strike Eadu. They're supposed to be like the LSOs from aircraft carriers.

The walkers at the end were easier to destroy than in Ep 5 because these were the cargo carrier version AT-ACT, not the heavily armored assault version AT-AT.

If you want more information about this time period (between Andor S1 and Rogue One), I would suggest watching Rebels 😉 It has, in the background, actually quite a few ties to Rogue One and even some to Andor S1 (and probably a lot more to Andor S2 once that is released). For example, it shows us part of the story how Mon Mothma ends up heading the Rebel Alliance When it comes to StarWars Project at the time for me: Best Movie: Rogue One Best Live-Action Show: Andor Best Animated Show: Rebels So yeah, I like that time period 😂 26:02 Bix we don't know since she was a new character created for Andor but Wedge: Oh yes, he is there almost for certain since he is already recruited for some time and the squadron he last served under (Phoenix Squadron) is also involved in that battle 34:00 That is the literal "sunrise" Luthen said he will never see. It looks like one and it was a major milestone of the Rebel Alliance against the empire since it was the first big battle they actually won against them

I think one of the biggest tells that Leia at the end was CGI wasn't even anything wrong with the physical details... It's that weird smile she had on that didn't seem particularly fitting for everything going on around her right then. It'd have been maybe twice as believable if they'd have just given her more of an anxious expression instead. She's literally just left a major battle and is literally running from Darth Vader, having just been handed the biggest responsibility anyone in the rebellion has ever held in their hand. Never mind Vader, who's right on her heels, getting hold of it, even if she just accidentally breaks it she dooms the galaxy and wastes all the sacrifices that were made getting it just minutes ago. But she smiles like she doesn't have a care in the world just to say "hope", because she's not real. A person would've played the role with contextual awareness, but some team assigned exclusively to animating a CGI person who says "hope" might be working without a lot of the context.

interesting that you thought about Biggs and Wedge possibly being there. Biggs would have been on Tattoonie (or on his way at least) for the deleted scenes with Luke, from A New Hope. Wedge could be there, but we don't see Red 2. (We do see Red 5 bite it, clearing the call sign, tho) You may not have noticed that Red and Gold leaders were the same actots from the original. They reused the footage and audio, plus some unused material

Ok movie that make no sense to the plot. The Death Star has a fatal flaw made on purpuse. A bunch of rebels will die in order to get it. Then the Rebels can master a plan to take it down. Wonderful. And how can we do it? Easy: we need to stall an Imperial Fleet and get wrecked while a guy blessed with the force (we have a really shortage of that at that moment) put a couple of missiles to the most riciculous spot in the most guarded imperial station (yes the flaw is in there, very clever) guided and protected by another beast ghost use forcer. You understand now that acquiring the info was so vital right?

Two.... this movie is going to blow your mind. I saw it in theaters, and I'll come right out and say it: It took me back to being 10 years old, watching the original Star Wars movie (before it was A New Hope). I'll comment with some timestamps (as I do)... because there are some things you don't catch on the first viewing. I've seen this movie close to 100 times since it came out. I absolutely LOVE it! IMHO, this is the best "Disney Era" Star Wars movie to come out yet. Yes, "Solo" is good, and like I commented on another person's comment.... it's good to watch that AFTER Rogue One. Not just because it released a bit later (even though it takes place about 10 years prior to this).... but it's a more lighthearted movie/story... so it will be a nice change of pace between these really "Dark" movies/shows. 1:20 - The first season of Andor takes place 5 years before this movie. Season 2 will cover the 4 years between Season 1 and Rogue One (according to all reports we've heard). Andor Season 2 will also take place at the same time period as the animated series "Rebels", although we don't know if they will cross one another. Also.... Jyn Erso at the start of this is quite young. So there IS a "time jump", but we don't really know exactly how long. 2:00 - The "black clad" Stormtroopers are called "Death Troopers". They are similar to " US Navy Seals" in their skill levels. 2:47 - This is Saw Guerrera. He fought in the Clone Wars, and without spoilers.... he suffered a lot of loss, which is what turned him into such an extremist. You'll have to watch the animated Clone Wars series to find out exactly what I mean by this. He also appears in Rebels. You've also seen him in the Andor series (which takes place a few years prior to this movie). So you already know he's a bit "paranoid". Remember, this movie takes place (mainly) right before A New Hope. Granted, the early part of the movie is a "flashback"... and we don't know exactly where it takes place in the timeline. But considering Jyn's age.... I'd hazard a guess it's around 13 BBY. Once we get to 0 BBY, she seems to be in her early 20s. Which means she was likely born not long before the rise of the Empire and Order 66. Of course, this is just a guess..... so take it with a grain of salt. 3:45 - Actually, he saved that dude from Imperial interrogation. An interrogation that is REALLY brutal. Not that I question the guy's resolve to not divulge information... but Cassian couldn't "take the chance" that he would reveal what he knew. In "other media", we get to see how far the Empire is willing to go to in order to extract information from prisoners. That is part of the reason you can't consider the animated shows "children's shows". They can get quite brutal at times. So, killing him not only prevented the information from getting into Imperial hands, it saved the guy from having to endure the torture that would extract it. 4:05 - Yes. That's the "Imperial Pilot" that defected... but more on him later. 4:10 - It was an ancient statue of a Jedi. Fallen over and left to decay. Similar to some ancient statues here on Earth, if you think about it. 4:36 - Yavin 4.... the 4th moon of Yavin. That name should ring a bell, as it is where the Rebel Base was in A New Hope. So, at this point, we're leading into the original movie. 5:30 - Senator Bail Organa. The man who took Leia Amidala-Skywalker as his daughter. 5:55 - K2-SO became a much loved droid at this point of the movie. He's such a snarky little shit. LMAO! 6:15 - Heh... he's not checking "speeds"... he's logging incoming and outgoing ships to the base. If you watch closely, you'll see this happen in many places all over the galaxy. 6:22 - We don't know exactly everything that has happened to Saw. But it's good that you noticed that he's not fully human anymore. 7:00 - Yes. Grand Moff Tarkin's actor died in the late 1990s. However, his family (through his "estate") granted permission to use a stand in actor to do Motion Capture and overlay a digital recreation of him for this movie. For what it is, and the level of technology available at the time... it was fairly well done. At least Lucasfilm was respectful enough to ASK for permission to do it, and the family had a lot of input over the appearance. I'll grant you, even on the "big screen", Tarkin reminded me a lot of the "G-Man" from Half Life 2 in the way it was done. I overlook the obvious "CGI effects"... but that's mainly because it WAS fairly well done, I respect Peter Cushing, and am glad they were able to include him. 7:36 - No. Bor Gullet is not a Rancor (what Jabba had). While not much is actually known about Bor Gullet, it seems to be "Force Sensitive" in some way, that it can "read minds" to ensure that the person is actually speaking the truth. 8:00 - You'll have to watch the animated series' to find part of that out. But anyway, it seems that Bor Gullet will only fully scramble your mind if you're attempting to be deceitful. You'll still suffer from the "mind probe" if you're being honest..... but that effect seems temporary. But if you're lying... you're screwed. 8:20 - Actually, yes. While not the same actor(s), it was the same characters from the Cantina scene. 8:43 - Chirrut Imway. Yes, he is Force sensitive, and yes, he was raised in the Jedi Temple. However, (according to sources), he failed to become a Jedi Knight, so was posted (along with his BFF) to be a guard at the Jedi Temple on Jedha. 9:15 - Remember this little girl in a few minutes..... 9:43 - Jyn was taught a LOT by Saw Guerrera. Up to and including hand to hand combat. Jyn is a legit badass in this movie. 10:10 - You didn't include "The Slap" from that scene. Fun fact: During filming that scene, the "slap" actually connected with Cassian's face. If you rewatch it, you'll see that he covered his face, because he was laughing at the "botch". After "CUT!" was called, Alan Tudyk (K2-SO), apologized to Diego Luna (Cassian), and they both ended up laughing about it. However, it was the "best take", so it was left in the movie. 10:45 - No. He is Cirrut's BFF, Baze Malbus. I'll continue in a reply to this.
@IggyStardust1967
@IggyStardust1967 Год назад
12:20 - Okay, before you start screaming "HEY! Wait a minute!! It couldn't do that!" Yeah, actually, it could. If you can get ahold of the original books and texts from the late 1970s, the Death Star was known to be able to fire "lower powered" shots at targets. We saw this demonstrated in Return of the Jedi, but the original Death Star was also capable of this. Simply put, it could fire up to 10 shots at a lower power, per day. The attack on Jedah City was an example of this. Technically speaking, when Disney bought Lucasfilm, things like this (not specifically in the movies or animated series) were rendered "non-canon".... but much of what was deemed "non-canon" (but approved by George Lucas BitD) has been slowly re-canonized through the movies and shows. 12:50 - There is another movie that shows a similar mindset to what Galen has: "Firefox". It's a Clint Eastwood movie, and very under rated. I highly recommend it, even though it took place during the "Cold War" between the US and USSR. It's not quite the "propaganda piece" that Red Dawn was, but both are really good movies, and well worth a watch. 13:25 - Saw's base is a bit of a distance from Jedah City. That's why it took so long for the destruction to reach them. 14:00 - Saw would never make it. He's only got half of his legs left, and he can not "run". He knew this, which is why he told Jyn to go with Cassian. Had they waited for him, they all would have died in that destruction. Also, remember that little girl from 9:15 ? She died in that initial blast, along with her mother. However, the "Cantina guys" that Luke and Obi-Wan ran into in A New Hope, they had gotten off world before this happened. Oh, and without spoilers... just remember that asshole... because when you watch Solo, I'll give you a clue as to why he has the "Death Sentence on 12 systems".... 14:15 - If you remember, I pointed out the difference between the original Death Star and the second one in your Return of the Jedi video. In the original Death Star, the exhaust ports led in a straight line from the surface to the main reactor. In the second one, they took a winding course from the surface to the main reactor. Which is why in RotJ, they had to fly into the superstructure to destroy it, rather than just dropping bombs down it. This explains why. 14:30 - I'll say THIS much: Saw always did what he thought was for the "greater good" (taking down the Empire), no matter what had to be sacrificed. When it came down to HIM needing to be sacrificed, he stuck to his beliefs, and died for the "greater good". Technically, this is a minor spoiler... but since you literally just Saw (pun intended) him die for "The Cause"... I figured it was okay to spill that much. 15:35 - BOTH of them are right, here. Cassian knows that Jyn would need "proof", but like she said, everything happened so fast, she didn't think about grabbing the disc with her father's message on it. Nor did Cassian, for that matter. Also, her telling everyone what was in the message, shows exactly what happens when you whisper in one kid's ear, let it go around the room, and hear what the last kid to hear it translated it as. I don't know if they did that in schools where you are, but they DID do it here in the 1970s. It's amazing how the story changed from the first kid, to the last. 16:03 - No. This is Eadu. You're thinking of Mustafar. 19:50 - Cassian is actually telling the truth here. While he DID go up on the ridge to take a shot at Jyn's father, he didn't. (All is as The Force wills it). He DID have every opportunity to take the shot..... but something told him not to. Jyn IS kinda over-reacting here... but as Cassian said, "You're in shock, and looking for some place to put it." I don't blame Jyn for how she feels here, she DID just watch her father die in her arms. However, Cassian DID try to call off the squadron from attacking. Yes, it was mostly because Jyn was up there at the time, but still. 20:42 - Don't you mean.... "DEW IT!" (in Palpatine's voice) 20:55 - Timeline wise.... no. MINOR spoiler.... but he was in Rebels (which takes place prior to this movie). However, I won't tell you in what capacity. I'm telling you, you REALLY need to watch Clone Wars, Tales of the Jedi, The Bad Batch, and Rebels..... forget that they are animated.... they are NOT kid's shows! 21:20 - Vader got Dad Jokes.... (continued)
@IggyStardust1967

23:45 - Watch. The. Animated. Series'! 26:05 - Most likely so. 27:08 - The "Speeders" from Empire Strikes Back had much less firepower than the space worthy X-Wing fighters, or even the U-Wing ships. That's why they had to use the tow-cables. The X-Wings couldn't waste their fuel in Empire, otherwise the pilots wouldn't be able to escape the system and would be captured by the Empire. 34:35 - This scene wasn't in the original script. It was proposed literally a couple of weeks before the movie was released. A bunch of actors were brought in for reshoots to make this scene happen. Had they waited another few days, it wouldn't have been feasible. Thankfully, it was.... because I remember the entire theater exploding in cheers when Vader ignited his lightsaber. I, myself, had chills going up and down my spine when I saw that. I wasn't the only person in the theater to yell, "HOLY SHIT!" when he started down that hallway. 35:20 - Yes, she was. However, Carrie Fisher DID see the result of that CGI, and signed off on it. Even though she died before the premier of the movie. Her actual voice was used from unused dialogue from Star Wars (A New Hope) to give her, her single line/word of dialogue for Rogue One. Some other "unused" footage (Red Leader and Gold Leader) were used from the original Star Wars movie, as well. Also, if you had watched Rebels, you would see a few "cameos" from that show, in this movie as well. But that's all I'll say on that.

interesting that you brought up the WWII movie idea with moustache man. This really reminds me of a WWII movie I have some issues but just stupid little things. Jyn Erso is not really fleshed out. What is her life like? Is she a hardened criminal? Is she all about just revenge? What life does she want to return to should the Empire fall? We are introduced to a rebellion that doesnt really know what it is. Is it a terrorist organization? Is it a coalition of different anti Imperial interests? We know that contemporaneously with this movie, the Emperor is dissolving all pretense at democracy by dismissing the Senate - but no one is talking about that.

To me, it suffers from what the majority of the Disney films suffer from. They cherry-pick elements from Legends and somehow mess them up. I'm not knocking it because it's different, but because there are so many elements that weren't thought out. Elements that were done WAY more effectively in the books and could have been incorporated into the film better without changing Disney's story.

Unpopular Opinion : Rogue One is overrated and actually a half boring half perfect Star Wars movie. The battle of Scarif in the space, air, and land is perfection. But the story and the inteoduction scene is just boring. The Vader hallway scene is absolutely what the fans want but that's what it is. A fan service. Easily the best Star Wars Movie from Disney, but not even the Top 3 SW movie of all time in my book.
