Same but my amp sounds so shit like the worst muffled sound i ever heard and the drive button gets stuck and it works fine playing with headphones

I reached out to Monoprice to see if I could get one at a discount in exchange for a review (more often than not companies decline me because I'm so new to youtube but it's worth a shot). I'll keep you updated.

Looks like we follow the same people on youtube. Yeah I want to pick up the deluxe one but i've spent so much money on buying things to review that it's hard to keep up.

@@HeWentRogue It is indeed hard. Many know of a local music store they use to "borrow" gear to start off. Use friends stuff etc. I have done the same as you. Out of pocket about 3000 worth of gear in 1 year. I suppose I should start moving stuff for trade and make multiple reviews of each. I've mainly just jammed around really. Still learning. But I will keep going as long as I enjoy it! Subs slowly grow and mine really wasn't meant to be a real channel more a place to save my ideas. It hit 200 and then last few weeks growing much faster. Which is still slow. I know giveaways help. But , again like you it isnt cost effective yet. Peace man!! As long as you and I enjoy the journey the job is worth it. I'm sure passion will land us in greater places as we go up! Peace

If tone is what you're after I would suggest replacing the pickups in your current guitar instead of purchasing a new strat type guitar. Now if you're sold on getting a tele then that's a different story, what budget are you working with?

For a tele I would look at the "G&L Tribute ASAT" it plays and sounds great and is within your price range. Should be able to find them used also if you want it cheaper. Another to look at is going fender/squier, it what most people do and it's because they are good. The Squier classic vibe tele has amazing pickups in it for the price but the MIM tele feels better to play. Try them both, if sound is an absolute must then go with the Squier. Don't go with a low end Squier though because it won't be an upgrade so stay away from squier affinity.

I'm going to get one in December for review, not sure if I can help with the regional Mexican music though. That's new to me, but at least I'll get to see the build quality and overall sound of it for everyone to see.

Playing a song like "Heart Shaped Box" by Nirvana sounds good. I'd use the neck pickup and use the tone knob to get a good clean sound.

Hi, sorry I missed this comment. When I recorded that part the sound was coming from the amp with the drive button pushed in. For a better dirty sound, I'd get a Drive, Distortion, or Metal pedal depending on what sound you're trying to achieve. Plug the pedal into the amp and then your guitar into the pedal, turn it on and you should be good to go.

Is this going to be your first guitar and amp? First I would advise you against getting the rogue pack, the amp is a waste of money. I'd suggest getting the rogue guitar on it's own (which you can get for around $80 if you wait for a sale). My experience is that the Epiphone is a better guitar, although they do lack quality control so if you can buy it in person at a guitar shop and test multiple ones. I'd also skip the Blackstar Fly, it's not a terrible amp and the cleans sound good but it's only good for the portability. Will you still use it in a few years? You most likely have a computer, why not just save the money on the amp and use your computer with headphones as your amp?

Do you absolutely need an amp? I practice my electrics without plugging them in most of the time. You could get just the guitar on sale right now for $79.99 and use the extra money to buy a decent amp later. I know it's only a $40 difference but the amp isn't worth anything. You would be better off trying to find a used amp later.

I actually tried this guitar for metel and rock and it almost blew my ear drums out the distortion or overdrive is loud and creates a thunder and lightning sound and it hurts your ears

@@sportidiots6587 for a beginner its a good guitar. I didnt have the same problem as you but I finally got an upgrade to a shecter, if someone wants this guitar for metal I suggest going for a cheap ibanez

It sounds like you have the RR50 model which is a bit smaller, it only has one volume knob and no pickup selector switch because yours only has one pickup. It's normal, it's just a slightly different guitar. You'll have no problems learning on it.

My amp only buzzes when the volume is high and the drive button is engaged. Play around with the settings, the drive should be relatively low and if you want more volume use the volume knob. But these amps are pretty bad in general and you can't get rid of all the buzz.

Just with the settings on the amp. Hit the drive button, volume at 3, bass at 4, treble at 8.

Only one way to find out. In the future I'll put thicker strings on it and widen the nut slots to see how it sounds in drop c# I think it will be enough to get a new player by though, pickups are a bit weak but for practice it should be fine. I don't know many players that start learning in drop c# though, so from my perspective getting a guitar primarily for drop tuning is a "second guitar" purchase with a higher budget.

It depends which Epiphone you're looking at getting. I'm assuming you're staying around the low $100s range. Stay away from the Epiphone Les Paul SL, the pickups are weak and it just doesn't feel like a Les Paul. The Epiphone Les Paul Special-I & special-II are the way to go in the lower price point. The only reason I'd go with the rogue over the epiphone is because of the price and that it has a single coil neck pickup (which I like the sound of).

He Went Rogue regardless of the price, would you say a les spaul special I or II is better than the rogue rocketeer ?

Personally I'd go with the Rogue because I want a single coil neck pickup. The les paul specials are good but there are some quality control issues, I was at guitar center recently and I played 2 of the same model and one played bad and cut up my fingers while the other was perfect. I'd say if you do end up getting the les paul special make sure you buy it in person and try multiple ones of the same model and pick the best feeling one.

I used the "Drive" button on the amp. It's not the best sounding though, other amps do a better job at producing drive

I would not recommend this amp for metal because the drive sounds more like a fuzz and it doesn't have a mid EQ on it. When it comes to rock it just depends what kind, like I said the drive is more of a fuzz so you could get away with some Hendrix type sounds (although low quality)

I have that exact pedal. I plugged it in and played around with it a bit with some riffs by "In Flames" and it sounded a lot better than the built in drive on the amp. One thing though is that I wasn't happy with the palm muted chugs, they just weren't deep enough but that's because the speaker is tiny. Also, if you end up buying this amp and using the DS-1 with it then just remember you can't play it too loud because it will blow the speaker (which are what other people are complaining about). I was playing with the amp volume around 4 on the clean channel and the DS-1 level in the middle. You can also get some interesting tones when you activate the amps Drive channel & the DS1 at the same time, just go easy on the amps volume when the drive & DS-1 are both on.

No, the built in drive/distortion sound is pretty bad. You would have to buy a pedal with it to make it sound decent. I'd suggest to just buy this guitar on it's own without the amp.

@@lthegreatestdetective5568 All depends what your budget is, if you're trying to stick under $100 then I suggest getting this rogue guitar. It's on sale on Musiciansfriend.com right now for $80 but if you live near a guitar shop that has lots of used guitars that you can play and test out I'd get a used Squire Bullet over the Rogue. Just make sure that it was a humbucker bridge pickup for metal tones. (I think they are about $130 new, but not worth paying full price)

My recommendation is to always buy used guitars because you're right. You can get a better guitar for a little bit more money and like you said, have a friend check it out before buying it.

It's held up, although I don't play it as much as my other guitars.

@@wavyrendon That depends on a few things. Are you using the amp that came with this guitar package? Is there a song that you're trying to get the tone of? (or the genre you want to play)

@@HeWentRogue yeah. There's many genres I want to play, but the amp overdrive for punk & heavy metal music doesn't feel quite there

@@wavyrendon Although a bit more expensive I'd go with a pre-amp pedal over an overdrive (if you don't plan on upgrading your amp anytime soon because a better amp will have a better built in pre-amp), it will work similar and you get a better EQ on it (treb, mid, and bass). For now get a distortion to get better punk/metal tones. This would be a better buy if you don't have one because you will more than likely use it with an upgraded amp in the future.
