Thank you for your tool idea! It worked like a charm! We were stuck on this part for 2 days and when my husband saw the tool he made one and bingo! Off it came.
Is the P6 your talking about the one that is installed towards the end of section 6. Does C8 , section 4, run parallel to D4, section 3. When I built this, I had an issue with one of the A7's in Section 1. The A7 would slightly lift B8 and cause the upper gears to not be level. If that does not help let me know.
That is an interesting problem. The post on P1 is flat on two sides. That is how P16 prevents it from turning when taking it apart. It may be possible to fabricate a tool that uses the flat surfaces on P1. I will try to get some sheet metal this week to see if it can be done. It also might be possible to 3d print a tool instead of using sheet metal.
This is the easiest way I have found. As far as sanding goes. I generally hit a spot one or twice with sand paper. Your just trying to smooth the surface. I usually go after the areas that connect with the larger frame. I hope this helps.
Hello! I just got this and am assembling it as a Christmas gift. I am really struggling to get this to screw on properly and it being even. When it is assembled only some gears will turn at first due to it being so crooked. From the looks of it, I don't believe that the screw is stripped. I just can't get it to screw on as easily as this. Any advice?
When I built this, I had an issue with one of the A7's in Section 1. The A7 would slightly lift B8 and cause the upper gears to not be level. The combined parts P3, P5 and C8 in Section 4 should easily turn onto P1 from section 1. Be sure to install P16 in Section 3. If that does not help let me know. @@rgauck okay, my issue the center screw at the top of P1 that screws the center piece onto it (P5). Based on your video it should screw on counter clockwise no problem. My issue is that while it screws on. It's all wobble and then never seems to screw on completely. It just sits there very wobbly and loose and so the gears bind since nothing is secured.
@@rgauck oh I have figured it out... I have the romantic carousel model and it has the same P5 gasket and it goes onto it's own music box just fine, and doesn't want to go onto the music box of this model... So I need a new music box because the center piece is stripped or warped or broken somehow...
