Well, it worked perfectly! I do repair videos as well and I gave your channel a shout out and the credit for having the idea, and the line on EL strips. Thanks again! I've had this synth for 20 years now and I've never seen it light up much at all until now.
Thanks 👍🏻 I just bought a Juno 2 and when I tried it out before purchase it was lunchtime and a strong sunlight and we was outdoors and not in a studio... I had a suspect it was something wrong with the "weak backlight"... the seller told it was the "daylight"... when I got back to my studio I realized the LCD backlight was really weak....I guess I try follow your video...👍🏻
thanks a lot ! I tried with your help and just succeeded in changing the display on my alphajuno1. it's a bit more complicated than the juno2 cos you have to unscrew the keyboard to access the display. but it was ok and now I have a wonderful new screen. Happy ! thanks again for this video (and the link to order the replacement part) !
Hey the sellar finally responded back he has some more in stock but already purchased from a different seller On ebay I saved him for future Reference thank you mindburner!!
It came out great! I made a video for my electronics repair channel, Mountain Top Repair Shop. It will be out in a couple weeks. I'll mention your video in the opener as it was the inspiration for the repair.
hi ,do you know if this fixes the hum ,from the screen ,that you get ,did or does your screen hum ? always wanted to get my screen fixed ,someone was selling new oled ones but ,cant see them for sell now ,but if this works that would be great
hi my old screen didn't hum it was just dull. I think a replacement would not cure a hum problem as it may be the small transformer that is making the noise. A LCD screen may be a better option as it doesn't need a transformer to run. The transformer could then be removed
Hey, good evening Mindburner thank you for this informative video could you send me or mention a link where you can buy these strips ?? I’ve been having a very hard time looking for them on the Internet. Or eBay Thank you.

Hello I just a Roland RSP 550 sound processor and the LCD Backlight has dimmed as well . I’m trying to repair it myself. I cannot find the part number from Roland because there seems to be no available service manual? How can I find one and could this be found? I was hoping I could switch a piece out like this and repair. Anyway you could help? I
hello, without knowing the exact model of the display it's hard to know if this would work, but many are just 16x2 displays. There are many of these for sale on ebay and the pinouts are the same or similar to the original displays. There are usually 2 extra pins for the backlight. The hardest part is physically fitting the new display in the case. Some info here on the RSP 550 display www.gearslutz.com/board/geekslutz-forum/1088513-roland-rsp-550-backlight-replacement.html
So there are 2 pins that are soldered but I don’t want to use a resister to drop voltage to 3 volts... I was hoping to have one that’s 3 volts? Is there a difference in using a EL Ray blue backlight vs an array that I guess is translucent and shows a green background?
the EL panels use a high voltage driver, usually over 20v. I you replace these with a LCD display, then you need to provide a new power lead, usually from the circuit board or something. The LCD displays use a 5 or 3 I think. I just not sure about this model of processor. Usually someone on ebay has a replacement spec'd
hi there's other suppliers if you just check out the size. Personally now I would fit a LED display or even OLED, although they're more expensive, especially for OLED
