This is a Keytar. The Roland AX, they stopped making these but if you check out my cghannel I have the latest Roland AX Edge, If you put that name into a search engine you'll see prices and all the info about them. I do have a fair few uploads of songs on my channel, just type into youtube search "Geoff Dean Keytar" or Geoff Dean Roland Edge" and you'll here some great demo examples. Kind Regards. Geoff Dean

Awesome video! Quick question (may sound a bit stupid) but when I finally managed to get my hands on an AX-Synth I had to use earphones with it and didn't get the opportunity to see if it had inbuilt speakers, does it require an amplifier to be able to hear the sounds or does it have speakers built into it?

Hi Andrew. No built in speakers, although would be handy for practice. It does require an amplifier which does sound really good. I remember a time when all I could afford were the cheaper Casio Keyboards which all had built in speakers and in those days it appeared that synthesizers and the like never had built in speakers as they added to the price and used more room so I had read at the time. I must admit that there are times when just practising that on-board speakers would be really handy but all in all not a great problem.

I have issues when selecting the guitar lead. It seems to work for single lead notes but when I add the bass notes, it cuts off the lead notes. I might be doing something wrong (portamento or sustain ?). Delay Pedal. I bought the Boss DD3 delay pedal for the Fender guitar. I like to use it for the Ax Synth and add delay or echo. What do you think? thanks Ed

+easyvivo The Boss DD3 really works (with Ax Synth) and it added volume to the sound.

+the dutchguy This is a native sound of the ax, but within the editor that makes changes all I did was add some delay.

Geoff Dean Oh I am a technician of the keys, I love to play fast Geoff, in my song Reverse Polarity- Solar Rock, I do a 3 or 4 minute guitar solo, it would of been nice to play the AX. Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson were my idols as a kid too. I like creating kybd challenges my last serious classical tune, Time Won't Wait, was done on a weighted kybd, hard but rewarding. Still I thought you played it tastefully Geoff, it's not always about speed😉

thanks John. I am always envious of anyone that can play the keys real fast, especially when they add those lovely little flourishes within the sound, so I sort of try to dabble in various ways to kind of make up for it in other ways.....Geoff

Geoff Dean Geoff your good please understand I've been playing for over 40yrs.now and have always like to challenge myself to try different combinations of things, not really learning others songs or reading music but developing my music😉Geoff if your ever interested in trying some new riffs or licks I'd be happy to show you at a slower speed for easier learning. Hi Ed. Yes I have used the editor and its possible I may have used it to tweak this sound just to add a little delay. I have used layered sounds too. I find it's pretty much like anything, the more you play around with it the more you find out what it can and can not do. Cheers Geoff

Yes the patch is built in, but I believe I most likely added an echo delay and saved it as a setting. You are able to change all parameters within the instrument via the provided Synth Editor that comes with it.
