I had this. It came with the used S-50 I bought in 1990, which was my first sampler. I HATED this sequencer, even when using it with a monitor. I could never figure it out. I ditched it quick for a Brother PDC-100 hardware sequencer, which was barely more usable. Once I got an Alesis MMT-8, I never looked back! That said, I wished I could’ve seen this video back then! Well done!
I use Director-S on the S-50 keyboard version all the time. Using the Microscope editing makes it a killer sequencer and where its strength really lies. It's basically a MC-500 with a large screen. :)
I have this and I'm using it on an S330 for shits and giggles. Old school is more fun than DAW. I'm actually making an album using it and going to 8 track cassette multitrack for real old school charm. I have an S220, S330, S550, S770, MKS 100. You could say I like old Roland samplers.
@@saren6538 its coming along slow because I switched to a Roland MC-500 MKII but I am using both, however due to several reasons I had to make 2 cds using Macs this year and several other life issues has put it on hold but this year i will try to finish it on a sansui wS-x1 tape recorder system. You will be the first to know. In the meantime I did a record using modern equipment, i have made 3 since 2020. This retro one is taking long but its really just for fun i don’t expect anyone to give two shits.

Was this at twice the temple that it would normally be because I heard four bars the first time you put it in sequence just asking you said it was that measure 9 after the first two
Curious: are you using the actual factory version of Director-S with the dongle, or the "dongle-free" version available on the web? If it's the latter, have you had any issues with it? I've read accounts of people having issues after some time with it, and other people saying it works perfectly. The people who have had issues claimed they started showing up after running the program for an extended period of time on the sampler (issues with saving songs, etc.)
Hi Nacht - thanks for that info. I have the dongle free version and haven't noticed any issues so far, but I'm not into it as deep as others seem to be. I'f I have any issues I'll let you know.
