Tips for buyers Yamaha DGX - 670 Pros - 4 style variations/ better style programs/ reads PSR style files with 4 variations ( there are thousands if free styles) Can write user styles/ more realistic and musical styles that can be used/ can play midi files ( Roland can not) 40 plus Super Articulation sounds ( best nylon/ acoustic guitars / saxes, etc that Roland or Casio can’t touch) Will read midi files ( including Roland ‘s GS and Yamaha’s XG files). Remember most pro GM files are written in GS format) Has 16 track sequencer Cons- heavy/ bulky/ GHS keys ( not as good as Roland) . Not gig worthy ( screaming “amateur keyboard)/ no vocal harmony / no modulation wheel/ only headphone out/ no separate LR outs Korg XE- 20 Light weight( 25 Ibs)/ terrible key touch and response/ PA80 arranger styles/ will read SMF/ Wav/ Mp3 files but poorly designed for live playback. No joystick/ pitch bend/ mod wheel/ PA 80 arranger styles means 2 fills and jumpy fills / no style writing/ has basic sequencer Roland FP- E50 Pros - great key feel/ individual weights ( key response not as fast as Yamaha’s GHS for fast notes runs due to escapement mechanics for certain patches but great for piano tones - better piano tones ( than Yamaha or Casio) - pro looking keyboard on stage ( well designed/ no speakers on top or front) -individual LR outs - Vocal harmony - 37 pounds ( lightest pro feel/looking arranger with build in speakers) - blue tooth midi and audio - chord sequencer Cons- Can’t read or write midi files ( only Wav files) . That means you can’t play pre sequenced general midi files with VH data) - other sounds ( non super natural tones)are good enough but not great ( especially saxes/ guitars still has Juno Di / Ds quality) . Not super articulation quality - arranger feature is afterthought and style are poorly written ( limitations start to appear if you are One Man Band / solo performer) - 2 style variations means 1990 era backing with improved sounds ( you will not be able to load even BK3 styles which has 4 variations) Overall verdict- There is no competition in the market.great if you need one keyboard that has 88 keys and pro piano sounds and other acceptable sounds with manageable weight that has pitch/ mod wheels . Looks great as well. For OMB players;You just have to load wav files and play and sing on top while using real time harmony by pressing chords in real time Don’t even start with Casio. Which is still not considered as “pro” looking/ considered KB on stage ( regardless how they improved with the sounds, etc, the stigma is still there)

Roland's dedicated arranger division (Roland Italy) was shut down in 2014. The EA-7 hasn't been replaced in 8 years and it was their last project on semi-professional arrangers. So Roland's focus is to put minor arranger functionality into their apps and some keyboards (EX-50,30, FP-E50 and so on). They are not planning to come back in the high-end arranger market as it is not worth the development time/cost and catching up they have to do.
Год назад
@@ablesam Roland is producing bad arrangers at exorbitant prices and Users are spending fortunes on it. I have an E-50 and the last keyboard worthy of an arranger was the EA-7 Meanwhile the competition comes up.
@ablesam
@ablesam Год назад
@ Well, you just proved what I have just said. They have no dedicated development team for arrangers, and they stay in the market for the sake of the investors and shareholders to say that they are in the market. But actually, they have left it a long time ago when they dumped Roland Europe s.p.a. There is no competition for Roland as they are virtually dead in the arranger community and market. Korg, Yamaha and Ketron don't even accept Roland as a threat or a company in the arranger space anymore and they just keep advancing with their products. The only space where Roland is a threat, is in their Digital Piano, Workstation, Synthesizer (Performance and Modelling) and AIRA product lineup. Apart from that, nobody in the arranger space takes Roland seriously.

I tried this e50 in a music store today and I must say that the sound of his piano is not even close to the sound in various videos. The sound from the built-in speakers and headphones is muffled, with a lot of lower mids. All settings were default, the equalizer was also default. I tried to change the modes "table", "stand" but it did not help much - the sound is either deaf, or oversaturated with high frequencies and also deaf on the bottom. I don't understand what it is.

I've been waiting for something like this. I've been playing a Yamaha P80 since 2003...I'm due. I almost went for the Casio PX-S3000, and then the business with the Keybed came up. I didn't like that, or the way Casio handled the response. Plus I didn't care for the Voices. I didn't like the Keybed in the Yamaha DGX. it's huge for a portable, and don't like their Pedal Setup. So I was saving up for a FP-60X. I can't seem to find anything more I would want then what this new Keyboard has to offer. Only question I have is, can to adjust volume on the Layer and Split Voices? If you can, then SOLD! Just waiting to see what comes out at NAMM. Terrific offering Roland. I listened a little more carefully to the features. I suspect Split and Layered volumes can be adjusted using the Pitch & Mod Wheels. Clever!

I've owned a Yamaha P80 for 20+ years and am just beginning my search for a replacement (upgrade?). My primary piano is an acoustic, but I use the P80 with headphones for "quiet" practice so others in the house don't need to hear my struggles while learning a new piece! As a fellow P80 owner, I thought I'd ask you for pointers on which models to consider - it looks like you've done some research! I'm looking for good acoustic piano sounds (E. Piano/organ would be a bonus), ability to record, and built-in speakers (which I don't have now with my P80). Not really interested in the synth/strings or rhythm features. BTW, I tried a Casio PX-S7000 and really wanted to love it - I was expecting to be blown away by the Grand Piano sounds but wasn't. I only had the opportunity to use it with headphones and they might have been the limiting factor...
@Frank-in-NY
@Frank-in-NY Год назад
@@ShakyKeys Hey Joey....Something I'd add about the P80, it sounds great through headphones, but play it through any kind of external amplification, sounds cheap & tinny IMHO. For you, probably the lowest I would go is a Yamaha P125 or a Roland FP-30X. I've played a FP-30X. I really like the Keybed action. It uses Roland's PHA-4 Keybed (it's in this FP-E50 as well), which is weighted, keys are textured, and has escapement. So as a acoustic piano player you should really appreciate it. The action is not as heavy as the P80, and I must say the P80 action is really heavy. I'm personally stoked to get my hands on this new FP-E50. I can say goodbye to the P80, and the Ensoniq ZR-76 that takes up so much room. This new board truly does it all. Good luck!

Hey@@ShakyKeys, also had a P80 but sold it years ago, now recent owner of an FP-E50 and very happy with it. The speakers of the FP-E50 are OK but not super, a bit thick on the mid and they're on the bottom side of the board, but for me it's good enough. Haven't tried the EQ yet. I think that's where the FP-60X protects its value.

A POTENTIALLY HUGE ISSUE THAT IS OVERLOOKED IN MOST ONLINE REVIEWS ON THE ROLAND FP-E50 is the fact that MIDI implementation on the FP-E50 is crippled: it sends and receives on one MIDI channel only. So if you have created a dual sound that you love - say a piano-pad combination - and you send it to your DAW, you will only get ONE of those sounds when you play the performance back. That's right, that beloved dual voice that you painstakingly created on the FP-E50 and saved to a "scene" will only be played back through the FP-E50 by the DAW as a SINGLE VOICE. In other words, in this case, you can hear the piano, but not the pad. The FP-E50 can't play dual instruments AND it can't play split keyboard performances back through your DAW. This is a very basic maneuver for anyone using a DAW: record a performance from a piano, make changes on the DAW, play it back on the piano, and then record the perfected performance into audio. Nope. Not gonna do it on this with dual voices or keyboard splits. It also will not record anything to MIDI on the keyboard and export to the DAW. And you won't be able to play multiple FP-E50 instruments on multiple tracks on your instrument (on different MIDI channels) from your DAW. What instrument these days only sends and receives on one MIDI channel each? The FP-E50 is not a multi-timbral instrument with respect to MIDI. The RD-88 is. While the latter does not have a record or accompaniment function it SHOULD (I don't own one) perform these basic MIDI functions with dual sounds, keyboard splits and multiple instruments on multiple MIDI channels as is normally expected. For the home user, the lack of a recorder and accompaniment is easily compensated for by the simple purchase of something like Band-in-a-Box for a hundred bucks. None of the reviews I've seen online has addressed this "disability" and no one in the stores was able to explain this to me in advance (and I really tried to find out). WHAT WAS ROLAND THINKING (??) when they crippled the FP-E50 in this way??? I wish I had purchased the RD-88 or some other piano for my home use to connect to my DAW.

Did some more research on my own. Installed the cloud app on my laptop. Pretty self explanatory once I created an account and ran the app. Approximately 1000 more sounds you can download by Roland that are 20.00 for appx 30 a pop. Then there are cheaper ones made by others. Didn't see any guitar samples off hand.

Roland, please introduce an EA-7 verion II for professionals. An arranger that will replace EA-7 and will have a central touchscreen and lightweight body. Roland sounds are the best! A Roland version of Yamaha PSR SX 700/900 or an arranger version of Fantom 0 to be precise. My dream specs are👇🏼 1. One 7" touchscreen and intuitive UI 2. Soft synth action keys (like Fantom 0) 3. 1500-2000 presets would be enough. Please add different ethnic categories' sounds and styles. 4. Button layouts like or better than Yamaha PSR SX line. 4 variations, and other live control buttons for styles. 5. At least 16 Tone registration buttons for one touch access to favourite tones 6. Dedicated buttons for Octave and Transpose (on the left side) 7. Good quality but not-so-powerful speakers for practicing at home without amp. Small sets of speakers will keep the weight down. Performers will always plug into the PA systems for performance. So, no need for huge speakers like Yamaha. 8. Keep the weight under 7-8 kg. 9. A nice foamed Roland logo gig bag to go with that. 10. Roland logo in the middle of the front panel (like Fantom 0 series) 11. Priced below $2000 12. Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity 13. Black color body 14. A powerful all-in-one machine for professionals from all over the workd who wants a Roland workstation and at the same time doesn't want to miss out on arranger capabilities. Great sounding tones - ready to use out of the box and some editing options. 15. Scene mode - to add layers and split up to 16 tones for live performances. 16. Can't think of anything else. Waiting for the new pro arranger at NAMM 2024. 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹

Love Kawai and Yamaha piano sounds. Love Roland design, Roland should do a Colab with somebody who make realistic piano sounds. Even something like Ravenscroft. Or NI Alicias Keys Yamaha Piano Sample. PIANO SOUND is the main thing that bothers in Roland :/

When will Roland realise that the discontinued EP760 was a gem. Plenty of power in the speakers, and basic but decent sounds. Roland should know how many EP760s were sold, and now need replacement. Jesus, like they offer crap replacements, 2.5 watts etc. rubbish. They had a winner in the old 76s and 760s. Brain dead development gurus. They know people used the 76 key units with 10 watts. Why the heck won’t they listen to the customer????

Roland might as well stop producing FP-30X's and FP-60X's now. For $200 more than the FP-30X this is 10x the product (it looks alot nicer than the 60X for $250 LESS); not sure why anyone would buy a 30X or 60X with this on the market. The FP-10 is still cheaper enough that it has a place, but with the 30X having an awful user interface, why would anyone buy that now

If this accompanying feature is the “golden ticket” why on earth not to give users a global or patch’s option to turn off specific parts of the arranger? It is 2023, user will not realise how annoying it is to having another piano playing in the background and some out of context brass jumping out of nowhere until they order one, is just unmusical Roland.

Hey @rolandglobal who can I contact about the offer? And why is there no email or chat support? That's not cool on the part of such a company. In addition to the product, the service provided to customers should also be cool...
