Best purchase I ever made. I am constantly doing original improv videos with the Roland. The creative possibilities are endless. Sure, a lot of patches are shit but you can tweak them easily. If you’re going to get this I would highly recommend you install a midi system into your guitar. The pick up that you are supposed to use on top of your guitar is not that great. I tried to glue mine on originally and it kept moving around and coming off so then I decided to spend $700 to get the internal midi done. No more tracking issues. I also installed two switches on the guitar that control extra patches on the Roland so I can flip a switch and add pedal effects or whatever I want. I’ve had this for five years already and I still keep discovering things.
Do you have it with the midi interface aswell ? Been thinking about getting graph techs hexpander set with the piezo bridge pickups but it’s hard trying to find one with a set up like that
Mr. Marcello is by far one of my favorite guitarists. His playing is so smooth and he just makes his guitar cry like no body's business. GREAT guitarist.
That smooth technique works very well with the GR-55... especially when he is doing piano stuff... which is very easy to make "ghost notes" with on the GR-55... lot's of ghost notes with the metal drum -- anyone that does have a problem with "ghost notes" check out this video by Kennis Russel who installed an RMC OPT-01 inside of the GR-55, and that got rid of the ghost notes. Check out this RU-vid. The email and web site of that part is included in his video... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5A_H-Q6moLw.html

Hi! Is there anybody out there facing problems with GR 55 installation on a Win XP Service Pack 2 pc? I'm trying to install the driver for Roland GR 55 on my computer, but it shows "unknow device". Already tried to reinstall the driver, change de usb plug, but nothing worked up to now. Thanks for your help!
Bought one already new 900.00 dollars with gk3 pickup waiting for it to come in apparently it's on back order because it was not in stock at music store
The acoustic instruments definitely leave you wanting, they're a rather dated sounding imitation. But the synth sounds work quite well and when layered over guitar it can create an interesting palette.
Hello! I have a godin spectrum SA, I am from Argentina, I buy a Roland GR-55. that amp should buy to play live and direct? not buy that amp!! I need something versatile! that sounds real good, crisp, undistorted sound .... to sound good, a violin, a flute, an acoustic guitar, piano, electric guitar, bells ... etc.
dose not sound anything like a banjo the GR1 sounds like a banjo LOVE Robs guitar playing but i use the synth guitar systems in studio concert bars //// i had bought one and sold it after about 6 months .its good for home studio
Roland needs to step up to the plate with an optical string pickup. I don't care about all the added to fluff. There is too much latency and translational error making it difficult to impossible to play these high dollar toys in a band, on or up tempo. When my guitar tracks like a keyboard, only then will I be satisfied. Until that day I am not wasting anymore money with this technology.
