playing an sg with lollar imperials . By the way the blues driver usually sounds bad unless you get it in just the right environment, so don't hold it against the jc-22.
Great playing and thanks for the demo! I really want to get a JC-22. It just seems perfect for practicing around the house. BTW, you might want to try the Boss OD-3. I sold my Blues Driver after getting mine.
Not sure if you posted a video about this yet... In my experience, at least with the JC 120, amp modelers sound much better than analog distortion pedals in front of it. I plugged my HeadRush Gigboard into the front of a JC 120, that thing sounded Dynamite. I tried everything from crunchy to downright dirty, and it sounded really good. Unfortunately I don't own it, it was a friends. Wonder if you tried the same? If this little jc22 sounds anywhere near like the results I had with the 120 I'll buy one ASAP. Putting a modeler in front, or 4 cable, gives you Endless Options.💯🎶🎸🤘🏼
I just picked this up for use in my room. I live in an apartment in NYC. It sounds stellar at low volumes. I'm a fender guy usually, and while this amp lacks some of the charm and warmth found on a fender tube amp, it makes up for it by providing such lush clean tones. I tried the JC-22 at my local music store, and just couldn't get over how good the cleans sounded. It's also one of the nicest looking small amps I've ever seen. It definitely has that retro cool look. I've found it really shines when adding stereo effects. I've tried it in a couple different configurations, one with a yamaha magicstomp, and one with a Boss OD-2 and Boss PS-2. You can get some beautiful shimmery sounds out of this amp. I think it would also be a great amp to use for recording purposes, or a coffee house gig. To me it's pretty much got everything. I would have been even better if it had the vibrato effect found in the JC-40 though. Also it's worth noting that the roland chorus sounds great and is pretty versatile. I think chorus is a pretty awful effect generally, but there's a sweet spot with this amp where the chorus is just subtle enough to blend into the reverb (which is very nice), and it sounds ethereal, and just beautiful.
Would you say that this new version have inherited the infamous "Roland Jazz Chorus"-hiss? I've always loved the sound of these amps but have stayed away from them because of the hiss.
I briefly owned a Jc-55 and have tried a jc-120...no I'm not really hearing any hiss with this one. I'm not sure about the jc-40, the other current model.
It has a line out and headphone out jack on the back so yes that's possible. Those outputs are much louder than what another amp wants to see as an input though, so you'd have to turn the amp way down.
