Literally shares the same Zen-core presets as the flagships. The flagship is about features plus V-Piano and loading ACB synth emulations.

I wonder what the sound quality hardware-wise is compared to the Fantom. The first Juno-D sounded as thin as paper and couldn't cut through a mix. Only since the Juno-DS the dynamic range has got better.

You didn't try treble boost on the older Juno-D? That's all these workstations need if they happen to not cut through in your situation. And being workstations, they can alter their sound internally (without any need for external EQs and effects) via numerous parameters and tons of insert FX, parametric and graphic equalizers being two of those many options to help you sculpt the sound as needed/desired. Same applies to all Yamaha and Korg workstations of any kind throughout the years.

I just bought a brand new DS 88 back in March. Note to self: Never buy a keyboard that was released almost 10 years ago...

Panic not. I have the DS88 too, it has tons of cool sounds. I'm using it to learn to play piano. IMO it looks slightly better than this new Juno D too 🤷‍♂️ I played the Juno D at guitar center and the sounds are not all that different either. Enjoy the DS88 all the way!!

I can understand your reaction but, I have also the JunoDS88 and from my experience, I love playing these JunoDS keys …the new JunoD has the same action like the RD88, ( have it too) and it’s not my favourite. Also I’m not convinced about the piano sounds … I’m afraid that these are the same from the RD88. I didn’t try this JunoD yet but from what I have seen and reading … of course it’s a personal opinion 😊

@@ElektronicCricket RD-88 has a few presets that are far better and exclusive to the RD, but then tons of the same Zen-core presets afterward.

Stick to your DS88, this isn't an upgrade unless you are the type to deep dive into sound design and/or want Roland Cloud compatibility.
