I bought this keyboard last week, pretty good.. learning new things every day!

Great Demo Scott, seriously thinking of purchasing a Juno Gi now. It will save Me lots of money, as it is so well equipped.

@Barefoot67 - you can do both actually. If you're using the Juno-Gi as your audio interface, you can choose to do either or both at the same time. If you're using a different audio interface, connect the audio outputs of the Juno to the interface and also connect it to your computer via USB. You'll be able to record the direct audio as well as record MIDI from the USB connection.

Nice demo, Scott. My Gi is shipping today and I'm stoked! This might not be THE kybd for everyone, but I play live and write songs and this looks like a GREAT kybd for me. I need great sounds at my fingertips and having the filter handy is really nice. I'm also a guitar player and the addition of the Boss guitar effects is like an awesome gift! Dedicated click out, 8-trak recorder, USB player, MIDI controller, nice arpeggiator, drum pattern arranger....for $999. Good value, IMHO.

Hello!! Thank you so much for your videos. I would like to know if its possible to connect a midi controller to the Juno Gi and be able use Juno's sounds?? (and maybe different patches, like 2 separate keyboards but sharing sounds..) Basically, I'm trying to get rid of my computer on stage. Right now, I use MainStage and got 2 midi controllers, one big (the one I'd replace with the Juno) and one small (use it for some melodies but mostly to change the patches on MainStage and play with the knobs) Is there any way to trigger Juno's sound from another usb midi controller? and also get to have different sounds in both keyboards? Thank you for your help!!

@mosquitoebites It is definitely worth it. Roland has pretty much always ruled the synth world (I'm a KORG fan, by the way), and even though they can be hard to use at times just due to interface problems, they still sound amazing. It has both metal and plastic where needed, but overall it is pretty tough. It will probably do everything you would ever want it to once you learn it. Go into a Guitar Center or whatever and try one out.

Great video! But is the roland juno gi compatible with cakewalk by bandlab? When I select a certain type of preset, it doesnt play the right sound and the sliders for track mixed aren’t functional? Drivers are already updated to latest (1.11). Do I need an audio interface to at least make it sound right. I know this workstation is a beast and I wanna use all of its features as I started learning music production. Thank you!

@wilcossb It doesn't have some features Juno-G has, but that is already made up by better computer integration. What I like about this keyboard is the ability to act as a USB audio interface, so you get direct digital recording quality without running signal through 1/4" cables!

Nice demo. This is, of course, not a 6, 60, or 106, which are analog. Still, for being a budget synth that can create a lot, it's not bad if you can get one cheap, and you're not looking for an interface that gives a lot of control (e.g. knobs).

That being said, the sound quality is excellent. I love the electro Roland sounds but with better conversion (at least to my ears). I would buy this synth in a heartbeat, but I am wishing for an OS upgrade to include MIDI recording and basic sampling.

I have been saying that for a long time since I rediscovered music again. the last time that I played keyboards was when the korg triton and roland d-50 were the top of the line synths. I been out of the game for awhile. I have not been to sam ash since. I'm more into unusual sounds, ethereal, string, and choral sounds . Can someone recommend a synth? Does the Roland have the best sound quality than Korg? I would appreciate any answer from anyone. thanks a lot.

Agreed! I'm considering the Yamaha PRS E433 and all the videos I get are piano sounds. I want cool synthy sounds like you'd hear in Tron or something by Harold Faltermeyer.

Hey, is there a real sonic difference between a Juno Gi and a Juno D? I only need a board for brass and synth sounds (ive got a nord electro covering pianos and organs) so I dont wanna pay more than I need to.

Can you save all the preset used in a song in exemple Cubase for future recall???

I'm thinking about trading in my nord 2x lead for a different synthesizer. Should I keep what I have or get a different one? I want piano sounds.

Amazing Roland electro sound. I will be getting this (I sold my Juno G a while back). If you compare the hardware sound quality to Rapture at the end, you will see how much better Roland hardware sounds. Software is more flexible but imo hardware is the way to go.

@RpstunnerBand I send it to a USB mixer then to logic pro... If you bring it back to analog it creates noise and noise creates warmth....

juno gi jonu g sounds are perceived?

if you record the Juno in Cubase fx, is that material then audio or can you record it as midi and then bounce the tracks in your daw when youre happy with em?

The Gi is a Synth, it says it on the keyboard itself! The Gi has filters, LFOs and routing, arpeggiators. It's a synth with an audio interface, drum machine, recorder and much much more, don't under estimate this synth it is really an awesome 128 voice powerful machine and I've owned many synths including a Juno 106 and JP-8000, I dumped the 106 (it's a big hype), the JP-8000 has great hands-on but sounds are very limited.

@OfficialTechnician Roland has never officially announced any OS upgrade yet. However, a lot of people (especially current Juno-G owners) are wishing for an OS that addresses the concerns raised: 1) Editability: there is no ADSR graphical editor on screen or computer, the knobs only support eq, cutoff, res (missing the control of envelope, etc)...2) Sequencing: Audio present but MIDI absent! ...MIDI sequencing/editing on board would be a great plus. 3) I hear oscillators can't be changed!

@ncheriyan thanks for the information its was very useful..im looking to buy a synthesizer but im only 18 and i am on a tight budget and i wanted to get a motif but thats to expensive so i thought i would go for something nearly as good but cheaper and I heard the synths on the g.i are better than the motif xf

@OfficialTechnician Having an audio recorder should also facilitate juno-g level sampling. Many Juno fans are hopeful at least some of this, if not all, will be implemented.

I would check out the roland jupiter 80 or the korg kronos. both are excellent... the korg in the best all around keyboard with tons of sounds for any style and the roland is a great synth with interesting performance sounds and arppegiators and also has some realistic samples thrown in to boot.

@DJschanze Oh..! that is fine. But Juno Gi should had a sampler function since it is an upgrade to Juno g. Without sampling, how can we add tones of an instrument like tutti accordion etc, if I have it in my home The tutti is very heavy to carry and I want its tone to be played in Juno Gi. If it had a sampler that was nice. For a workstation it is an inevitable facility. The Gi should had replaced the battery facility with some more useful facility like a sampler function and SRX.

@OfficialTechnician It is true Roland has an amazing, deep sonic character for its synth sounds. I have the Motif XS and Korg M3 and both sound very strong..but I want to get Roland electro sounds - I want to get this Juno-Gi (I am a former Juno-G owner - please check my videos)..however, I feel that this synth seems to be more for the player than for the tweaker: there seem to be no knobs for ADSR envelopes, no graphical envelope editor, etc. IF those issues are taken care of, I'll buy it ;)

I was planning to buy Juno G, but I got news that an upgrade is coming soon. finally Gi came with no features I expect. The tones, looks and style is improved and very trendy than Juno G, but it lacks sampling function which is very essential for a workstation. I was dissapointed with the unnecessary(for me) features like battery facility. It creates problems than mobility feature. I think if the battery leaks(in any condition) it may ruin the entire board. I had an experience with a keyboard

@PranayParti007 I have tested both! and i decided to buy The Juno Gi! I like to make music anytime i want! Also this keyboard brings a powerfull effect processor for Bass, Guitar or Voice! Mastering Tools n More! ^^ m50 is not that great .. juju

prince4d, the Gi's display is a lot better than the G... I support many user concerns below. I wonder why they introduced batteries (which is a useless feature...and yes stored batteries for a long time can cause a leak) and why they left out some awesome features of the Juno-G. I also don't understand why they have an audio recorder but no MIDI recording or arp editing or basic sampling!!! I am a former Juno-G owner (check out my videos) and I was hoping for better...hope v2.0 comes out!!!

I have heard that this is not a successor of the 'Juno G' but a totally different instrument. This just doesn't ring a bell for me. I thought the model designation is given for identical keyboards: eg: Juno-D is a rompler synth, Gi is a workstation, Fantom is a workstation.

He really didn't even get into the 8-track OR the mic/line ins with BOSS COSM effects, which make this rig worth the $300 more than the Di.

The battery facility should have avoided and instead of this Roland should had added SRX and sampling facility. I hope the next Juno will be introduced with these features. I'm waiting for the next version. But the synth tones, vocoder, looks, interface are very fascinating than any other workstations in its class. The most value for money workstation in the same class. But the cones are battery and no sampling feature according to me. I liked the SD and USB facility in Gi which is very feasible

@TheRolando19 I'm very sorry to say that gi doesn't support srx now as g had. This is a very bad idea. Instead they added a battery facility which is of no use than adding an expansion card like srx. Gi doesn't have a sampler. but the earlier version g had. For a workstation like juno these two features were a must instead of useless feature like battery backup. I think your SRX card is a waste coz, you can't use it with gi. So better buy a Juno G.

it is not a full workstation. no midi sequencer and very poor when used with a daw. the sounds are ok but not as good as the korg m50 or krome i kept it to produce our last album then sold it for modern r&b and hiphop the korgs kill it!

Ok been told by Roland theis is NOT a synth so stop calling it one. It has 1300 sounds but not much programming capability's and no Editing Software like the DI and Roland aint bringing any out even though demand is high for one by Owners. The Di is better for tweaking sounds and has an editor so don't get sucked into believing this is a synth. Its a Audio recorder with keyboard added,
