This is great example how Roland's sound engineers should be replaced :-) Seriously - not single roland groove box brought some fresh and new sound to the music. This tune sounds like master piece of Detroit Techno, but unfortunately 30 years to late in terms of sound palette. Seriously - @Mihail Shevchenko did really great job here - not trying to undermining he's talent or anything. I remember when I got MC303 back in 1996 ... or 1997 - most of the sound where very ... tired. Nothing really new and innovative in this department. Whole concept was at this time ground breaking and amazing. Same later on - I had JX305 which was keyboard version of MC505 - really good instrument - I'm seriously considering to buy it again - just for the sake of nostalgia, but I remember - out of the box it didn't have really new and innovative sounds. Synth engine there is good, but very ... slow. Try to run on 2 tracks fast LFO modulation - you'll know what I mean. I had briefly MC808. Disappointment. Concept of groove box killed on start - you needed a computer to access all synth parameters, but the sounds ... again - bit old. Ideally I'd see something like a hybrid of MC909 wit much better VA synths engine from Korg. I think Korg wasn't much late in the game, but they did bit better job. Of course above opinion is very subjective - you don't have to worry about it. Keep up good job there ;-) Na Zdrovia
No I Totally disagree. This is a fine Machine. I like to describe the presets as the wrapping so to speak but it truly comes alive in the right hands who can connect with the Machine to make it speak to you. The creation capability to make your own sounds are superb. I've been producing on hardware for over thirty years and I can say that this Box is an Animal when its activated by the right mind. The old phrase "It's not the song but the Singer" is apt to describe this Superb piece of kit
@@millymeridan4521 I agree very, very much with the idea of "it is not song, but the singer" and how you operate stuff that matters. I've been reading about these groovebox for a while and I found one quite in a good price here in Brazil. But what is your opinion about getting this old piece of gear today seeing that there are a plenty of new hardware around, like the elektron boxes, even Roland's Tr8 line. I really like old Tank style of gear, I own a MPC 2000xl but also own a new Digitakt. I see the value in both of them, but what is your opinion on this 505 comparing with today's gear
