On Saturday I got my RD2000 after my FP-7F started to have issues with its keyboard (after over 9 years of amateurish, yet frequent, playing). Love it so far.

65 Drums - I thought I would like this over my RD-800, but no. The interface is more convoluted, with more shared controls, secret button combinations and a lower resolution shrunken-text monochrome display. It also has only 3% more tones, including the vpiano stuff, and I prefer the keybed feel and texture of the old model.

Roland is THE synth company. I still think Nord has them beat on acoustic piano sounds (Yamaha may be a close second or third). Sadly Roland seems to miss on the orchestral and other non-keyboard modeled/sampled sounds. Their strings are awful.

We have this Roland at our church, I wish we had a Yamaha. The piano sounds IMO don’t meet the expectations. Going Mainstage since it has a built in interface already.

I guess it really depends on your expectations. Using V-Piano you can create a preset, that works for you - usually at least.

This review wasn't helpful at all. The guy says, "there are a lot of professional resources", and that's it. How does the layer works? Can you layer an organ with other sounds and still have the live capacity to change the drawbars and the volumes of the different layer parts? What effects are available? Connectivity, etc, etc. ?

Yes I have a question for you. I own a RD-2000 and I'm of course enthusiastic of it. I would like to make the best piano setting for live situations where I play with a band and not wanting the piano to disappear in the mixing. I try to explain... I have also a Yamaha PSR-S950 and the grand piano sound is always "clear" in the output. Yhe pianos from the Roland, which are beautiful to listen to when alone, in the live situation seems to be darker and less audible.... Have you got a suggestion for the right piano to use or the best settings to change in order to obtain a clearer sound on the mixer? Thank in advance!

Adjust the EQ so the treble is louder. You can adjust the EQ to get different balances for the various scenarios you will be playing in. Save your custom settings as user patches patches. You can also experiment with gain and drive and other effects, as well as stack different sounding pianos with custom keyboard splits.

What works for me sometimes is turning the CUTOFF FREQUENCY up on your piano patches. I sometimes do that on my Yamahas and it always gives me a nice brighter tone. Not saying that it definitely will work, but it's worth a try

I have the Yamaha Montage and I compare the piano sound and for some reason I like more the Roland Piano sound, but its very close. Now the Montage has much better sound effects and the. Two acoustic guitar sound is awesome. On my opinion Between Roland, Korg Kronos, Montage and Nord Stage, I still love more the Montage. I call the Montage "The Beast".

I have the roland fa-06, montage 7, kronos 2 88. The Montage is a beast! Sound creating, and control far above all the rest! And sounds are absolutely amazing especially those orchestral sounds. But i must say the kronos has the most realistic sounding grand pianos tho IMHO.

the rd2000 compares to the yamaha cp 4 , its a stage piano. if you want to compare the montage compare it to the new roland fantom or even the jupiter 80.

No portamento as far as I know. It does have a Hammond sound and you can use the sliders as drawbars. There is a wah effect, and you can apply it as a touch wah or route it to an external pedal, whichever you prefer.

Hello! Great question. Both of those instruments have amazingly fantastic keybeds. Of course, there's some personal preference involved, as they are slightly different. Hi, thanks for your interest! The RD-2000 does have Hammond organ-style sounds which can be controlled with the faders, similar to drawbars on a real Hammond. You are also able to add effects onto any sound, including the clav. However, there is no Portamento function on this instrument.
