Truly awesome sounds!! Your video inspired me to revisit Roller by Goblin, and then, when I came back here for another serving of your analog delightful patches. It makes me wonder if you've ever listened to these guys. Brilliant stuff. Your great sound design convinced me to snag a used JP-08 a few weeks ago, and now that I hear these patches, I definitely want to get the SE-02 as well.
I like your patches but I did not enjoy that external reverb you used with so many of them. It's far too dense and overpowering for a patch demo video, IMHO. I would err on the side of letting the patches speak for themselves.
This is pushing me closer to buying one of these. I kinda wish it was $100-$150 more with a larger footprint I have large hands but I would never play live so I don't think it will be problem. Also, I've been impressed with your work since I started following you somewhat recently. Great stuff.
Thank you! I saw some guys replacing the knobs with some tall one. Just to know that the space between SE-02' knobs vs Model D (Behringer) is the same (+1mm difference on Model D).
Very nice sounds .Gonna add one to my collection.as of now ive got the 303.909 d05.vp30.sh01a.my fav at monent is the sh01a.lets see if the se02 becomes my go to synth
Nice patches ... sound so much better than the factory patches! But, YT compression often hides the true quality of synth patches. Just like the other Boutiques -- sound so much better on my desktop than via YT. Really like the patches with motion... like #18.
Hello I bought your sounds and I liked them a lot. One question is there a possibility to sync ( for instace patch 7) the tempo of the LFo to my daw . I can`t figure out if this is possible
Hi Rene, on the LFO section you have the [SYNC] switch which allows you to sync the LFO as follow (to the left of the delay amount knob): Ø: Not synchronized. L: Only the LFO is synchronized to MIDI clock. D: Only the DELAY is synchronized to MIDI clock. LD: Both LFO and DELAY are synchronized to MIDI clock. Also, your SE-02 should be connected to your DAW and to receive MIDI clock from there. Cheers!
Hi Alba thx for the answer. With all your help I stiil cannot manage to sync the Lfo the beat or is it only posible to sync to the frequency. am using cubase and send Midi clock out to the se-02
My SE is synced externaly via USB I have also tried it with Midi externally. Following link is from a guy with the same problem he said that it`s not possible to sync the Lfo to tempo. Thanks for helping.www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/comments/713izn/got_my_new_roland_se02_and_syncing_lfo_and_delay/
And yet, my friend, it is possible: in SEQ mode, set the SYNC to Mid, be sure you're on the same MIDI channel as it's track on your DAW, and it will work. I am now synced to the JD-Xi. Check your email in a few minutes.
very well done! is there some sort of an empty/initialized patch in the factory presets? When tweaking existing sounds it is so hard to tell the actual settings of the patch, which is making it hard for me to program something from scratch. I mostly end up just tweaking presets because of this.
Excellent designs! I'm curious about why you've chosen to use the RV-3 here rather than the SE-02's delay. Is it because a click is just a bit more convenient than a knob twist or something?
nice patches, again! you do all the heavy lifting and I'll just arrange it for you haha question, is there a way to hold notes on the se-02?? can't see a hold button
It sounds very good... however it seems "tamed" ... the external effects make it stand out...otherwise in my opinion it just produces a "familiar" sound...
It’s most definitely not tame. The oscillators drove the filter much more and have higher gain. And the feedback can get absolutely bonkers. Much more wild and woolly then the B Model D.
Sir Cliff have you owned one? I had one for over a year and it most definitely excels at gnarly, gritty sounds. Tame is not a word I’d use to describe it. It can be if you want but that’s not nearly all it can do.
yeah I'm really enjoying the SE-02 a lot more, I just don't want to go over board with hardware as I have a hybrid music setup ie software, new hardware and retro hardware. for now I'm trying to approach it from the view "less is more".. maybe I'll just a get SE-02 & Behringer Model D and see how that goes. This way it gives me a chance gain more experience and save for a bigger synth in the future like a Moog Sub 37.
Wait and buy the new EREBUS V.3 by DREADBOX. A lot of patch points, new filter chips, 3 oscillators, same fat glory! Much longer, thinner and same price: €499 euros!!!
Elias M I’m not the OP, and idk what the Behringer D or SE-02 costs overseas, but unless you’re buying used the Dreadbox will cost $100-$200 more than either of those in the States.
This one, definitely. I had three Pulse 2, sounds great, excellent matrix, but: the first one died during the OS update, the second one came with strange bugs, the third one came with a bent corner from factory. Maybe it was just me: my only unluck moment in my synths experience. But Waldorf managed very well that situation and reimbursed me. SE-02 is the perfect sound for that vintage, classic analog sound.
Alba Ecstasy thanks for the reply! I owned and loved an SE-02 and miss it dearly. I want the Pulse 2 for its features but this one just sounds so much better, imo. The Pulse seems to have a more sterile quality.
