M'y SRV 2000 is 33 years old and it's always running. It was almost a lexicon 224 sound but very less expensive !!! I enjoy This effect with à warm sound.
Use it still today. In my opinion one of the best reverb for percussion and especially closed and open hi-hats. Sometimes female vocals could also sound nice with it.
Like the first alesis mini rack effects from the early mid 80s the last reverb of that was lovely. Apparently Sigur Ros use that particular setting quite a lot but only that one it's a really long ambient Reverb which sounds a lot like this. Thank you for the review
What types of reverbs are the most frequently used with the synthesisers? Of course they all can be, as for example the space reverb for some cosmic music or effects, but let's focus on those most frequently used for bass and leads in, say, Italo Disco or Depeche Mode like music.
Thanks for the upload bud. I just picked this up at a pawnshop for cheap... I'm using as an effect on my drum set.... couldn't of got a better effects box for the money.... thanks for the quick rundown. I literally wrote down every single patch for quick reference....although I have other (expensive) effects. This one I gotta say........is one of my top 3....I've been getting nothing but good compliments. And when I see the look on their face when they see how old it is priceless!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!
hello. i have a problem with one i bought in Reverb. When i've turned on everything was ok, but, right now (2 years latter) i turned on again to use it but the display doesn't work anyway, any led is lighting... can you know what could it be?.... i've red it has a interbal batery that i have to change every 5 years... i don't know what could it be.... thanks man
Thanks for you're nice video's....it could be my computer sound card but is it possible to put the signal from the reverb more UP so you can hear the reverb above you're vocal sound to hear the reverb better!. Thanks.
I've recapped a couple of these for a friend. He actually had three at one time. Anyway I'm working on another one right now for a viewer who liked the video I made on it. Good job showing off the patches on this unit!
I really loved the SRV2000 in this demo, but there is a catch here. Your room acoustics make the SRV shine more than the SRV actually will deliver on dry sounds. I bought one anyway, as i love to serial link reverbs and delays to create my own sound. Thanks for this demo, as all your clips are tremendously appreciated. But please, next time also include a sound like a 808 rim or snare, to have the pure effect be more purely audible.
We are definitively not in a concrete pipe and we are also not in a chapel : ) . . .but it doesn't matter, these Roland reverbs do sound really nice and usable
Excellent. Rarely do we see vocal explicit tutorials featuring fx such as reverb. Would love to hear a delay module (with the reverb?) and more Harmoniser on vocals.
@@SynthManiaDotCom Multi-FX? DEP5 (EQ+Mod+REV) vs SRV (EQ+REV) ... both reverb with eq ... but +mod in DEP5. Moreover, judging by the parameters in DEP5, it’s still the same reverb from SRV. Just a higher sampling rate. But has the reverb become reduced in quality or better in your opinion? Ignoring the modulation function. Also ignore the delay, SRV also has a delay in hidden mode. And in both devices these are separate algorithms that cannot be combined with reverb at the same time. So I wouldn't say that they are very different in terms of multi or non-multi
The reverbs are sub-par on both machines by today's standards. You're talking about machines from the 1980s. I wouldn't overanalyze this. If you're looking for good & cheap reverb, get a modern, hi-fi quality plugin. If you want grainy '80s reverb, they both do it very well. I mean, these are 200 dollars units, it's not like you're trying to decide on a Bricasti vs an H9000, so I wouldn't agonize over the choice, and would pick either of the two - especially since you think they are basically the same (they are not, in my opinion).
I'm in a big room not in a large Hall, but I have spent some time an in a concrete tunnel out in the sticks; hope you don't mind the humor. 😁. Oh I was wondering have you happen to try a keyboard or a synthesizer through it please. Any help would be thoroughly appreciated. Thank you
Hi! I'm searching info about the srv 330, 3300 and the 2000 about heating... it really can "fry eggs"? What is the method to correct refrigeration on racks?
Grazie. Saluti.
Hey Paolo, Thanks for the demo, quick question: Does your Srv2000 emit so much heat under that its almost impossible to touch it longer than 5 seconds, is that normal? have you noticed that on your unit?
I have a SRV2000 and this rack unit warms very much. It's 33 years old but it has never break ! Some sounds remember lexicon 224 reverberation. You can use an external fan air cooler if you want to be quiet (under rack unit). A fan was recommended by Roland for this unit if installed upper an amplifier device in a mounting rack box. if your device is old, check also all internal electrolytic capacitors and replace them (perhaps tired because of the heat). Private information: I am also an electronic technician...
Love your videos Paolo and have been watching a few years now. I try to incorporate as much synths into my bands music as we can. Your videos have inspired me to make my own vids from my recording studio. I would love making a record with you based on your knowledge and gear. Cheers. - Bahrum, OC California
Your review is very good, you take time to show everything slowly so everybody can understand. In your video you mention 2 other machines the AMS Reverb and the Lexicon 224. Have you tried any of those? and if so how do they compare, soundwise to the Boss? I already subscribe to your channel.
Your new neighbors are like "who the hell is he talking to?!?" lol, but on a serious note, great demonstration, would love to see how the ams rmx is like.
Thank you. Mine arrived just yesterday. Getting the hang of it. What was your impression from what you remember Sir? I feel it's more on the tinny side, metallic colour. I basically wanted it for orchestral/trailer type of tracks. Do you think it will do the job? Many thanks again.
