The Roland TR-8S Guide. How to use the Sidechain with external gear. I'll explain the Sidechain options/parameter with my OP-1 and give some tips and show in short examples how to implement ideas to create nice sounds. Simple step by step explanation in a kind of short video. Easy to follow.

Man, I can't figure out (and I'm sure it's very aimple) how to connect guitar pedals to the tr8s.

Hey, there are multiple ways... However, you just use the EXT IN for your pedal (sound source like microphone, phones out, assign out etc. into your pedal. Through the pedal and back into the TR8-S via EXT IN for example) or feed it through like for sidechain with assign out.

Any way I can side chain a track inside the tr8s without sending it in to the ext in?

Is it possible to add the SideChain Depth parameter to the CNTRL knob of the BD channel?

Hey, unfortunately that's not possible. What you can do: go to Kit menu, go to side chain depth and exit the kit menu. Next time when you want to change it and you access the kit menu it pops up directly and you have your CTRL still free to assign with something. Thats how I do it.
