Did you listen to Richard Tauber, Joseph Schmidt or Fritz Wunderlich? Rolando Villazon is good - but IMHO not as good as the above mentioned. They are surely better! :D

Nearly end of year 07 and his silence will be over ,we will be so pleased and relieved to see Rolando again! I really appreciate this video,that tune is in our ears and the way Rolando sings it makes it so touching !
Another thought entered my head for why his is such an intoxicating performance. Intoxicating for them who have met their love of loves or felt insanely in love, so much that it consumes every living cell in your body, as if riveted to a wall from which it is impossible to tear lose. Rolando's frenzied style is symbolic of the dips and doodles of how love taunts and tortures, so beautifully.

Bei Ueberlegung kam mir noch ein Gedanke. einer Der jemals aller groesste Liebe gespuert hat, verliebt war bis ueber beide Ohren, wird durch Rolandos narrischer Weise daran errinnert wie die Liebe doch plagt und foltert, und wie man wie an die Wand gepresst sich nicht loszureisssen weiss, so schoen.
Why would some require him to be the best or perfect tenor before they would give him credit for a fine performance and delightful voice. I found his delivery not impeccable but definitely memorizing. Could listen to him for hours.
Yes, where does the root grow that creates all these negative feedbacks..? Anyway... Mr. Villazón is a wonderful artist. Sings well, is pleasant, humorous and musical. However, I also enjoy Mr. Kaufmann's beautiful tones, sorry :-)

His diction is great. But his performance seems over the top. I wish he wouldn't shout the "Dein is mein schoentes lied" and make more gentle like "vweil es allien". But all in all comeing form someone who sing this song, he can sing this song really well. My only issues are with interpretation NOT technique.

Los tenores ligeros cantan altisimo pero su voz es flaca fria mecanica cantan sin sentimiento nomas estan esperando el momento en donde suben la voz todo lo demas lo cantan sin emocion en cambio los tenores liricos tienen mas peso en la voz y cantan con el alma como corelli o pavarotti y cuando suben la voz son como como un huracan categoria 5. Los tenores ligeros nomas sirven para agudear todo lo demas no impacta.

ja, besser als die kuenstliche Stimme des Jonas Kaufmann ohne Zweifel, aber das sagt nicht viel. yes, better that the artificial voice of Kaufmann without doubt, but this isn't saying much. er singt hier gut, aber er hat geprueft, dass diese Technik ist nicht gut. er hatte "Stimme Chirurgie" und hat VIELE Konzerte wegen der Ermüdung annulliert. he sings well here, but he has proved that this technique is not good. he had voice surgery and has MANY cancelled concerts because of fatigue.
