Rolando is one the most wonderful Opera Artists of our time!!! I am EXTREMELY happy that he is back and that he sung an wonderful Nemorino in Vienna!!! Bravo!!!!!!! I hope I will have in my life the honour to sing with him one day!!! We missed you and we welcome you back!!!! Thank you for your Personality, beautiful voice and your warm heart!
When he was singing O Sole Mio, he enjoyed himself so much that someone had to show him to stop swinging his arms so far out! He enjoys himself so much that he forgets that he is in a recording studio and that the microphones are extremely sensitive! THAT is precisely why I love Rolando Villazon so much. He is just the best tenor in the whole world. I can learn from him how to enjoy life more and to sulk a little less! Greetings xxx
jayke93 since you are an award winning classical singer at age 17 we will wait and talk again, what your experience and accomplishments will look like, when you have conquered ROH, MET, etc. :-)
What he does at 1:45 is typical of why I don't like him. When he does something "interpretive", it always results in singing off the voice, in shortening a note, in making something choppier, in taking extra breaths, singing straight tone, or wrong rhythms. His interpretive choices result in LESS music, in short-changing what is written, not adding something more. This is not interpretation, it is an attempt to cover up work not done, and technical shortcomings.
First of all, I highly doubt you can do it better than him. Secondly, you don't have to "like" him, he has plenty of people who do like him. And what I, and many others, see is a different STYLE. And I'm glad he's got a style of his own and not trying to copy Pavarotti or Domingo. ✌🏼
