It’s really nice to see the allopathic Drs finally waking up to the importance and utility of vitamins, minerals and herbs. They’ve been in the dark about these things for far too long. When my partner’s father was in the hospital dying of flu 5 years ago, we were begging the Drs to give him some IV vitamin C. They scoffed at us and dismissed us like we were a couple of morons. That was a very traumatic experience because I knew it wouldn’t hurt him, it might help and they basically let him die because they weren’t willing to give him anything that wasn’t a prescription drug. The sad thing was that he kept begging for orange juice. His body clearly wanted vitamins.

I have a problem with maintaining magnesium and other electrolytes due to non-specific diabetes insipidus with urinary output of 6L/day. Finally I was given a central line and get NS and 6g of Mag Su daily as well. I’m in my sixties, and post-TAH for 33yrs. Astonishingly, it was ER doctors who figured out most of these issues. Docs at the two major university medical institutions ridiculed my symptoms as psychological for years. But the local ER doctors saw me hobbling in over and over with my hands twisted and leaking bladder, etc. and referred me to a nephrologist across the street. 24 hour urine collection and a change of primary care doctors from the concierge practice to a modest fellow who “tsked tsked” and quickly added thiamine and then IV B Vitamins as well. My ileocecal valve had ruptured in my fifties leading to a Dx of Vascular EDS-so no “real estate” to really absorb common nutrients. For years I suffered profound neurological problems from the malabsorption issues. Now stable, my quality of life has improved significantly. Yes, having a central line is a bother, but at least I’m hydrated and functional and almost totally free of neurological problems. No “migraines” no balance issues, no bladder leakage. (How many women have this issue and hypomagnesemia too??) I’m not vaccinated and was exposed numerous times to people with C-19, but never got it. I also keep my D3 levels around 60, and take zinc PO a couple times weekly.

… we need to remember that there are 10+ variations of magnesium… they do not (!) all offer the same benefits. Mag oxide for instance is nearly useless - unless you need to have diarrhea for some reason. It also needs to be reconfigured once digested to be of any benefit. A quick you tube search of all magnesium types will show the differences clearly 😊

Mg can be better absorbed topically. If it burns when you apply (Mg gel) it means you are low. Once it can be applied without a reaction, you are at the right level. The daily RDA's are mostly dosages from the usa army military in the 1940's. Not accurate today. Learned in medicine a couple decades ago that to really find the magnesium level in the body, it requires a dissection test of a muscle in the body. Blood level tells very little. It does not tell if the muscles are holding adequate magnesium in the muscle. Taurine also helps to hold better levels of magnesium in the muscle rather then pushing the mag into the blood.

Great vid Dr. Been! I usually take Mg citrate 240-400 mg as needed, or Mg glycinate when I can find it. Started taking it when I developed adrenal & thyroid issues 10 yrs ago. Around that time Dr's also found out I have 2 different MTHFR mutations, so all of that combined has made an interesting experience with Covid. I had Covid the 1st time Jan 2021, developed long Covid that lasted until June '21. The magnesium made a huge difference, I ran out of it briefly & my symptoms flared up worse during that time, esp heart palpitations. Once I could get more my symptoms got better until they finally all went away. Your video really explains why it's so beneficial & how to use it to aid our health. Thank you for all you do, Dr. Been! ❤️

I would not have made it through long covid this far without magnesium therapy. It's been that essential. The massive inflammation associated with covid causes a massive loss of mag, and without replacing that you're on a ticking clock. I had a bath last night with 1kg of salts and soaked in it for 2 hours, that's my standard, I do that every other week and then top up with home made mag paste in between. As someone with autoimmune I started having issues with the way my body was reacting to shifts in female hormones. I have sworn by taking this - I NEVER do miss taking it. Sometimes when I've taken a different brand and had the amount be wrong because of the number you need to take in order to equal 400 - is unclear on the bottle ( in this case I wasn't taking enough) and I'm feeling bad right away. It's an obvious difference.

For this purpose it's absolutely great, but for the purpose of absorbing magnesium for its health benefits, other magnesium are better as magnesium oxide has a poor absorption. Magnesium citrate has both a good absorbtion and can also soften stools a bit (but less so than Mag. oxide which is more potent). In my case it was mild constipation so Magnesium citrate was absolutely the best of both world.
@gomonkey
@gomonkey Год назад
@PeaCan06 The poor absorption of Magnesium Oxide is EXACTLY why it works so well for constipation. It filters through the digestive track and most of it isn't absorbed, so it ends up in your colon with other waste products. That's where and how it does its magic. When it hits the colon it pulls in water and softens the stool. This is why other forms of Magnesium like citrate and other chelated forms don't work as well for constipation, because they are absorbed too well in the intestinal tract and very little makes its way into the colon. I took Magnesium Aspartate (ZMA) for years (decade + actually) and never had any results in terms of constipation relief (also wasn't taking it for that anyways), I accidentally stumbled upon the Oxide form because it was on sale and used it as a temporary replacement for Aspartate. A few weeks into that, presto, a 20 + year issue with constipation was gone, and has stayed gone ever since @500mg per night.

@Zeon7510
@Zeon7510 Год назад
@@LadyBug1967 yes. For the magnesium itself that it contains, no, but for the way it is absorbed (%) ,yes. If the magnesium is bound to an amino acid (that's the building block of proteins) such as magnesium glycinate, then it is absorbed really well by the body (and it's one of the best for anxiety as the amino acid Glycine it contains is also calming, just like magnesium itself). Magnesium bound to oxygens are not absorbed as well, but are great for constipation. Magnesium citrate is absorbed well and also soften stool somewhat(which can be good or bad depending on the context, but it's no where near as potent as mag oxide). But it's a bit cheaper than the glycinate form and in my opinion is the best ratio of Magnesium per $. (But if it's for anxiety, I'd go with glycinate)

Dr thank you for this very clear clinical explanation of the importance of magnesium. Please understand I’d like to point out to you that I have bachelors in masters degrees in human nutrition and the appropriate licenses. You really need to send people to see people like me registered dietitians, or whatever appropriate people are in your community because getting enough magnesium, especially in the face of Covid is very difficult. If you tell people the best source of magnesium is pumpkin seeds. You have to eat one cup of them to get 168 mg of magnesium a cup of spinach would give you 24 you see the problem you need somebody to do an evaluation of how much magnesium they’re taking in, in addition to what you’re going to recommend for supplements please I really strongly recommend that you start using people that are licensed in the field of dietetics to assist your patients

Almost three years here. Acute phase from HELL, March 2020 - high load, moldy workplace, nurse. It's been very hard and dark. I don't give up - but doesn't mean this has been easy. Very hard, very frustrating. Doing IVs, HBOT, sauna....it's been awful, but have a lot of regimens...with no money, to stay on them. Ayyyy. Hang in there and keep finding what works! Every one is different. And make sure you get tests for acids, metals and mold!

But I've also read, that if your vitamin D levels are not adequate, your Maggesium levels are likely to be low as well, because each depends on the other for proper absorption, and one scientist on RU-vid here fees that blood serum levels of Vitamin D and magnesium are not very accurate to begin with, so unless a person knows all this before hand it's a problem, that probably never gets figured out,

Thank you Dr been for this lecture. IT'S excellent but sometimes you slip things in and you say it pretty quickly and then you pass on. I'm left thinking-- oh what did he say? I think u said NOT to TAKE MAGNESIUM WITH K2 and CALCIUM. IS THAT RIGHT?? I do not take calcium but I do take K2 with my vitamin D3 because that's essential. AND I think I heard you say I should separate them which I can do because for a while I was just doing magnesium at night and I have it in a separate place by my bed while my other vitamins are in the kitchen IF you get a chance and could elaborate on that, it would be really important because we don't want to be taking things that counteract each other and nullify each other in essence because that would be really unfortunate and a waste of money and endanger our health

I have IBS. I want to take magnesium, but it gives me diarrhea. An I loose potassium. Ugh! I do take Zinc and vitamin D3 to boost my immune system. The heart needs salt ( potassium) the brain needs glucose. Just have to balance it . Salt helps with the electrical parts of the heart. Guess it's like a conductor. We know quartz have strange abilities. Wonder if it could be used to send certain vibrations that could destroy cancer cells? A break thru using the polio virus that's carefully put into a small catheter that's inserted directly into a tumor mass, gets the immune system going and starts destroying the tumor. At first like with any immune response,there will be swelling. But as time goes by the tumor is destroyed by the immune system from the center of the tumor out. Shrinking as it dies. Right now they're calling remission,but the first young lady who was dieing with brain cancer, who volunteered to do trial testing made it. She went on to go to college and became a nurse. She has been cancer free for over three years. The Drs say, it's early yet to say cure, but patients who were used in these trials had very little time left, and they say miracle tho Drs don't like the term miracle. They have to be careful with words. Probably after five years an if the cancer doesn't return , maybe then they can say cure. Going to try to find more info on this. Video I watched they were using the polio virus on cancerous brain tumors, because it's almost impossible to operate on them. As the video was ending they said there was no reason this couldn't be done on breast cancer,or any cancer causing tumors. Blood cancers tho they can't do.

C C, calcium supplementation is not generally recommended. Very few people are calcium deficient. If you eat real food, then you almost certainly have a sufficient level of calcium in the body. Magnesium supplementation is far more important for bone density, as the majority of American's are deficient in magnesium.
