Most of the people here are asking about OT tech or anesthesia Tech courses. See, if u get a government job in India with these courses, u r the prince. However, outside government institutions, u will regret for whole life unless do some misadventures...u know. Secondly, BSc nursing is much much better in both pvt and public sector. There is no comparison at all. Because Nurses are now Officers and u will always be frustrated to work under them. Note- I hv daily experience with both of them 😊
Some times is very hard.. emergency intubations...and tracheostomy.and .ventilators procedure s ..... .some times is very fun and 💤 sleep ❤😅but we are all life saviours. 😊😊
Yes Anesthesia technician have to be in OT while surgery, yes we can take breathe because we'll not be monitoring the patient we can have breaks in between.
Anaesthesia tech deals with medicines ,monitoring anaesthesia machine while operation tech deals with preparing ot , assisting surgeon during surgery, setting instruments required for the surgery.
can a bsc biotechnology graduate take up msc in anesthesia? will they be missing out lot of important knowledge if they do that without going for bsc in anesthesia?
As per NCAHP Act, the minimum eligibility criteria to become an operation theatre and anaesthesia technician is a Diploma/ BSc in Operation theatre and Anaesthesia technology, so you will not be eligible to practice the profession with a BSc in Biotechnology and MSc in Anaesthesia Technology.
I don't know where are u working but definitely you appear to be well trained and doing a good job. However in my hospital OT techs are just a space occupying lesion. I'm not exaggerating, all that they do is to connect BP cuff and pulse ox probe. ask female staffs to attach ecg electrodes, arrange anesthetic drugs and give us ETT during intubation or give spinal tray. All these work can be done by any one anesthesia trainee, Nursing Orderly...yes the only petson who performs most of the direct patient care..! If I tell the the authorities that I can do without them in the OT, they should only maintain thr stock and records that will be enough for them, they feel offended...! They never buzz if u ask them to assist outside OT complex. It's not their job. Every single day they mention what is not their job. They are busy comparing themselves with the nursing staff who are now Nursing OFFICERS...!
A small suggestion: look at the career opportunities which a profession can give you and not by the opportunity of wearing a white coat and/ stethoscope.
Most of the universities offer it clubbing together (i.e., BSc in Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology), if you are doing your BSc from a university offering it as two different courses, yes both of them have equal opportunities.
