Very respectable AD, kudos to them to take care of a customer who purchased a Rolex. Unfortunately that's not something which is the expectations nowadays, but it's the proper way to take care of a customer of a luxury item. And kudos to your wife for having her "one-watch collection" we'd all be far richer if we were able to follow suit with her discipline.

Four higher end watches in 5 years or so doesn't make you a high-roller? I don't think there are nany people who spend some 5k /year in a Juwelery store.

I had an easy 1970s vintage 34mm Oyster Perpetual Date serviced through my local AD. Came back as new and running suberbly. Cost around £400.

My wife has a 34mm OP and a 35mm Cle de Cartier. Wears them all the time come rain or shine. Her OP is heavily scratched up but that’s great in my eyes. A well loved Rolex is a well worn Rolex.

It wasn’t the previous watches or jewelry that was off any real value as you said. It was you. Hats off to your jewelers/AD for keeping it real. Obviously, they know what they’re doing and how to retain existing clients. Man! The 31 DJ I have for my wife is burning the proverbial hole in my pocket but as you know, I’ll hopefully have the reason this spring 🤞. I still count you as one of the luckiest Rolex owners I know. Your DJ has the super jubilee or whatever you call it and that is just the classiest thing. Im shooting for a Breitling my next round but I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed for them bringing the continuous bracelets to the 41DJ.

I fully understand why they retired the super-jubilee, it has very limited adjustment and zero micro-adjustment. People want hyper comfort these days and this bracelet cannot offer that sadly.

You mentioned that the diamonds are not too blingy on this watch. I think some of that comes down to the dial color, the diamonds do not contrast as much. Now if you had the diamonds on the blue or black dial that would stand out more. Excellent service from your AD. Many manufacturers have a bit of a buffer zone on the warranty. I offer a product that states you must turn in warranty items within 90 days of repair, so, at times I am able to back date work and help out the customer. Rolex may offer the same scheme, but with a longer time frame. In any case, luck is on your side Ash, and it provided a good story as well.

Well, 4 watches in five years is not just a regular customer in my opinion and two months after 5 years is not that far off so I’d honestly be surprised if they decided to charge you for that service check. They could potentially scare you away from buying more watches so it is clearly a smart business decision from their perspective as they can recoup some of the money in a future watch purchase or future service repairs for your small collection and keep a loyal customer

Nice review sir . Great to hear how well you were treated via Rolex. Sadly I've to report of spending North of £2k when my Seadweller went back to Rolex .Mind you it needed a full service and the expensive bit now a new bracelet!!!Oh well the joys of high end daily Rolex ownership (not off my wrist for 12yrs ) My sister made the Rolex choice a couple of years back and bought a Datejust bi metal. Nice work great job getting an "equestrian "to buy a watch rather than the "British made "saddle she really needs !!!!!😮😮😮

I agree with the others here, the jeweler probably considers you a high-value customer. Few people buy multiple luxury watches + jewelry at the same dealer (or at all, it's still a luxury few can afford, after all).

Nice piece. I would consider blurring/obscuring the inner bezel serial number on your macro shots. Just out of caution.

@@TheChapsGuide Say a fraudster sells a "watch" (non-existent) but uses your serial no. (to fake its authenticity). Watch fails to arrive. Buyer calls police, gives them the serial no. - headache and inconvenience for you (even if you have the papers).

I love Mallory Ash, great service in my personal experience and lovely Belgian chocolates to eat whilst you’re browsing! I think Ash you’re in the minority here (.00001%) or smaller of people who are able to spend that sort of money buying all those Rolex’s and Tudors over just 5 years. Most people who are lucky enough to own a Rolex would only most likely have the one, let alone four! They did that service for free because you are their TOP customer! And long may it continue. Love your content.

No. They have lost their shine for me and I doubt I would ever buy another. But the brand cannot be ignored for its qualities.
