The oyster bracelet is a fingerprint and scratch magnet. The smooth bezel is constant scratching and fingerprints as well. Go fluted and jubilee bracelet.
IMO, the smooth bezel with oyster bracelet makes the watch look more modern (especially with that dial). For some reason the fluted bezel with jubilee bracelet looks “old”.
I’m starting to finally warm up after all of these years because of the rhodium dial. I think that the fluted bezel would be worth it and a Jubilee bracelet quite stylish.

Perfect in every way!! I own this very watch and love it, not to flashy but very classy. Can be dressed up or looks good with a pair of Jean's and shirt.

Rolex should make three sizes: DJ36, DJ38, and DJ41. DJ38 would be perfect, not too small and not too big. The DJ36 is small for a lot of people and the DJ41 is big for a lot of people. A DJ38 would be perfect.
I would have to agree with you! Dark Rhodium is one of my favorite dials for that reason alone. The color values/hue is dramatic when in natural light vs artificial light. And in low light conditions, the lume shines exceptionally well! - Alex

I have this exact watch. Bought it to fly under the radar as my gold day date and Daytona attract to much attention. I love the watch but as for flying under the radar its a fail, i get so many nice comments about it.
I’m like Goldilocks when it comes to the DJ. Proportions are much better than the DJ2, but overall it’s still just too large for this type of watch. The fluted bezel does a better job of hiding a bezel that’s just too wide. It’s too heavy here with the smooth. I know it’s not even 40mm in reality, but it could stand to be shrunk down just a tad. And the other hand, I find the new DJ36( I think is stunning in terms of proportions) just a tiny bit too small for my 7.5 wrists.
I agree, the ideal size would probably be around 38mm. But if that watch would exist it would probably cannibalise sales of the 36 model (and also the 41 one). Rolex must also be reluctant to move the 36mm size upwards as it is the classic one. Now you have two very distinct sizes, 36 and 41, either very small or very big, depending on what look you're after.
This watch isnt posted yet. When it does, it will be available here: www.thewatchbox.com/shop/Rolex-Datejust-126300.html In the meantime, please email tmosso@thewatchbox.com if you would like to speak to someone about buying it. Thanks!
I'm giving this _very_ serious thought. I'm torn between the elegant silver simplicity of this piece v. the busy blue dial of the Omega 311904451 and its triplet of crown + two pushers.
@@caglioso Correct, the case is 39mm. It's 41mm at the widest point, which is the outside surface of the crown screw. Personally, I consider this watch a 39mm since that is what the majority of the watch is. I don't know why I am the only one pointing this out. Be well, and best to you!

904L steel is a free available alloy. Girard Perregaux is using it as well on their Laureato. It's a common "myth" that this type of steel is exclusive to Rolex and made in their own foundry. Only the gold alloys are made in the Rolex foundry, which is still very impressive. But please get the facts straight about the 904L steel 🙂
i looked into buying this exact version awhile back, but, the AD couldnt be bothered to serve me, had a holier than thou attitude and they are doing you a favour by allowing you to purchase
Times are now changing. Corona virus will fix the easy sales all boutique retailers were once having. Less money to flow and tough times for all means decline in luxury items. I dare say in another 6-8months you might be able to negotiate price if the economy keeps tanking.
@Swift Sentry when the government here gives people $750 a week to stay home when they only earned $500 then sooner or later the debt needs to be paid back.
@ekim andersom invest in watches or food and roof over your head. The name luxury item is just that. Luxury. Tough times have yet to hit people. Governments propping up people's lifestyles too.
@Swift Sentry dont doubt you at all, saw it myself too. What is crazy is the selection of who they sell too. The diagu of China. Also stainless steel worth more than gold on secondary market. First sign of stupidity in false value due to "scarcity". Considering current gold prices.
At this price point this watch just looks boring. Spend little more to get a better bezel and jubilee strap, you've already allocated this kind of money to buy a good watch, why buy the lowest trim.
I don't think this would be a good choice for an only watch. Too much high polish for when you're dressing casual. The Oyster Perpetual would be a better choice for versatility, or the steel Yachtmaster if you want the added functionality of a date and a timing bezel.
