I look at it as a watch to wear for fancy gatherings/weddings/thai traditional dress accroutement. The watch fits into Thai/South East Asian traditional menswear aesthetics.

Remember, it’s gold filled so it’s a layer of gold around the base metal. It’s not a solid gold dial. Still offers the brilliance as far as the look, but not at the same value or weight of an actual 24k gold dial.
I pre-ordered one last year. Excellent service all round. One of my favourite watches. I disagree about the plain font for the name. It's a considered choice on a highly intricate background. As for the name Wise, it's no worse than a nonsense word, like Roleks.
I live in Thailand and Wise have been coming up on my FB page for a while now. They do some great watches at some very good prices and I'm about to pull the trigger on one from the Hitman range.
A beautiful watch would love one of these. Only I would have liked the hand to be a darker colour to make seeing them easier. Also as you say a little better water proof
Throw in an “in house movement” and this watch goes up to 5-8k at least. Wise is absolute quality!!! 904L perfect polishing/finishing Wise and Zelos pack so much value into their watches.
Honestly, for a gold watch such as this one, it's basically a piece of accessory. So people should judge it for what it is rather than worrying about the spec of the movement.

@@jimfiore4671 It's a bargain compared to Grand Seiko with its finishing and complex dial texture. You won't be getting anything similar from Seiko at that price spec-wise.
@@jimfiore4671 the different gold applications are a bit obtuse. From pvd to plating, vermeil, or filling. Filling should lead to a percentage (20%?) of gold in the element concerned, which is usually a lot more than plating, but can still be a relatively small amount of gold overall. I guess the filling was needed in order for the texture to work, but I don't know that for sure. It is also worth noting that 24k is considerably more than gold alloys typically used. Ultimately I think the value in this watch derives from the design and care in construction and this is what most appreciate, not the exact price of the amount of gold involved.

It’s a classy looking dress piece, but you were totally right about the WISE font. The W logo would’ve been perfect for this watch! Too much gold for me but I love the design!
It's a good looking watch. But It's's having a bit of an identity crisis : boring leather strap and pedestrian movement mixing it up with lovely gold colored dial and Rolex quality case.
It has case clamps, they wouldn't have a plastic movement ring with case clamps going through it. It's probably a gasket for the rear glass or an optical illusion.
I'm not a fan of gold outside of white gold. It usually strikes me as a bit garish, but this watch looks very nice! I think it's because the patterning can shift the coloring as it catches the light form different angles. It looks very elegant.
I dont really get the comparison to Rolex cases other than the material. Rsther the case (and to some extent the indices, which are also a little Giorgio Galli) seem to be quite indebted to Grand Seiko. The great thing is, this is very obviously neither GS nor Rolex, but entirely its own far more affordable thing. Yes, the Miyota 9000 at this price is the best, but I regularly see far worse value propositions from much higher rated brands. I do agree that if there was an occasion to fly the ornate logo instead of the brand name on one of their watches, especially in applied form, this would have been it. I missed opportunity in my view. I also tried to reason with them that placing 24k gold on the dial is really quite unnecessary. Then, later on, I realised micro darling Laventure did oretty much the same and more prominently (althoufh perhaps theirs was solid gold?). Gold filled dial that doesn't wear down, makes a lot of frugal sense. You get to enjoy the material without it slowly disappearing from your watch.
That's an absolute stunner. Definitely a dress watch so I wouldn't be worried about the water resistance. Bracelet would be nice, but it does look great on the straps. If I had the money, I'd have this watch. Gorgeous.

I love the brand and this one is gorgeous, but it is too shiny for me. I got the Adamascus AD8 with bronze case and green dial and I am super happy with that piece, it looks beautiful and is extremely well made. Maybe you can review that one, too. 😉 One note about the 316L / 904L comparison sheet, I had it in the back of my mind that the carbon content is lower for 904L steel and it is, it should read 0.02% instead of the 0.2%, so that is a typo.

I've seen some previous ones about this watch, but you are the first one to succed to show how playful this dial could be, how playful it is. 👏👏 I'm not a gold, nor a two tones, watches guy. But I'm a microbrands fan. Therefore I subscribed to some newsletters, including Wise one. And when I discovered this 15th anniversary watch, it didn't take me long to decide to order it. Its been on my regular rotation ever since, and I don't see it coming out anytime soon.
Love Wise's case shapes... the material limits choices of straps as I love to match the hardware with the case. If I needed a dress watch - this one would easily be shortlisted. Beautiful.
Even though this sort of thing is not my cup of tea, I can still say that this is one stunning looking watch - and for an amazing price, given the spec-sheet and apparent level of finishing. Slightly OT: I never quite got why folks were so into the whole 904 vs 316 thing. AFAIK, 904 is only like 50 bucks per *ton* more expensive than 316 and, as Jody pointed out, it isn't really "superior" to 316. I feel like it's more like another Rolex-created gimmick to give their watches more USPs than they really have. Maybe it's just me, but on the handful of 904 sports watches that I've seen (including a couple of Submariners), I couldn't spot any obvious differences to ones made from 316. Perhaps this is just exploitation of human psychology ... I mean: 904 is a higher number than 316 ... :P
What a nice looking watch,I have noticed Wise for a while,as I am moving to Thailand 🇹🇭 next year I think I will be a bit patriotic and buy one of there watches.
It's nice. I'm not really into gold but this is understated enough to be attractive. 37.5mm might make it look more like a ladies watch on my 8.1" wrist but for normal sized people this will look very good.
I'm surprised that there was no mention of the high level of finishing! Amazing for the price. Although comfortable, I found the straps to look and feel cheap. Otherwise, I am quite happy with mine.
@@gideonMorrison trust me, I wanted to like them. I'm guessing you are being sarcatic, but they do feel rubbery and have shiny fakeness about them. I reused the curved springbars in a Has No Bounds strap I had on hand, and it looks great!
Not my style but a great watch to wear to a wedding or other formal occasion. Not keen on the strap but a lovely dial. Im getting oriental vibes. That fancy W would look the business as a dial logo. A brand for me to watch.

@@pzwolski No that's what gold plated means. Gold filled means that at least 5% of the weight of the dial is actual gold. They press it into the dial, rather than just coat it. But it's more similar to gold plating than solid gold, that's for sure. God bless
@@gideonMorrison It's less than $40 of gold. Gold filled items don't fetch anymore than gold plated items. So 24k or not, the gold content in the watch is definitely not a reason to buy it. To be honest, they should've just used gold plating instead and knocked some $ off the price...
Looks like the micro brand of my dreams. I almost appreciate the glass back. W is also for 'wat' (temple), which looks like it the inspiration for the box logo (which I don't think would shrink for the dial.
I really like Tudor day date with golden linen dial and this is quite similar. However if i had to drop 700usd on dress watch i would buy Tissot Le Locle with with diamond hour markers❤
That is a stunner. I really like a vintage looking dress watch! My only niggle is about the appearance is that id prefer the W logo from the presentation box instead of the Wise text on the dial.
I pre-ordered my AD 8 on a bracelet in October but they keep pushing back the delivery date. Originally it was supposed to be December, then February, now sometime in the next 3 months…the wait is driving me crazy!
Its dress watch, you ain't suppose to use it for outdoor activities. Although, I do find my dress watch enemy is door frame,my wrist always find way to bump on door frame.

It's beautiful and unique imo. Would be nicer with 100m WR. The face should just have a better font for WISE and the logo as shown on the box. It's rare to see a dressy watch with decent lume.
