Rolex Submariner 168000 transitional Submariner 1st Submariner to be crafted in 904L stainless steel. This one is an original tritium custard patina sponge dial. Has a blue/grey ghost insert with original tritium pearl.
I am a real fan of the 16800 & 16800 series Subs! The variations in dial, indices, etc. are interesting as the model evolves into the modern Submariner. That's is quiet rate timepiece you have there!!! I passed along my 1984 16800 to my son since it is his birth year watch!
The dial actually isn't blue but more a of grey black that picks up a blue hue at times. The dial orinally was a gloss black dial that "sponged" to a near matte dial.
