Why are you taking credit? This is not your invention. It’s called a coyote roller and you didn’t even bother to show if it was effective or not plus that fence is too low. And it doesn’t work with a chain-link fence my goodness any animal can stick its paw through there and climb up and over.

No need to use cable . With a wooden or a smaller pvc tube with end cap fits into two bigger PVC pipes will work the same and at much more cheaper price. Only two bigger pipes will roll while the smaller ones hold the pipe in place.

Make a much stronger cable mount point out of triangle piece of metal and just string the cable the length of the fence through each piece of angle. Add the pipe as you go and pull the cable super tight at the end. No need to cut the cable at each section.

Looks good but couple of questions: 1. I have a standard I guess 3 1/2 - 4 foot chain link fence and a big 90 pound dog. It looks like he does jump bracing himself on the top of the fence. a. If he does use it so, this should work for him, right? b. Does it necessarily have to be 3 and 1 inch pipe. Can smaller pipe be use as long as one size fits inside the other or maybe close size ratio? Don;t know costs but if long fence would save cost. Thanks again! Cheers

I have a small poodle and two cats. The poodle digs under the fence. The hawks around the area can swoop up your pets and take them as food. We have an eagle down the way, that has done this. So I think this idea is wasted money. However, if the fence was higher up, it might work for some dogs, like a huge one. But they dig under fences. I place cement boarders around the bottom of my fences. Same as raccoons and opossums. Those are the dangers owning a pet-other animals. I lost a pup to a raccoon. My neighbors lost their cat to an eagle. I hope people think about this issue as well. I have an outside access cat enclosure for my cats and my poodle is on a leash when not supervised. It is not the (jumping over) fences I worry about. I do like your video music and skill on how you all make the videos. Kudos. Miss Jones Bay City MI
@jessicajarsak7812
@jessicajarsak7812 2 года назад
This video is for dogs that jump over fences not protecting from hawks. You need a covered yard area for that. Why go on a perfectly good video that doesn’t pertain to you and say it wouldn’t work when it’s not meant for that in the first place?? You need covered areas the huge birds can’t get your precious animals. I know you can’t keep an eye on them 24/7 and I certainly wouldn’t want them being picked up by hawks. You need to search for videos that pertain to a hawk problem. Maybe a dog and cats run or a portion of your yard to be covered. I don’t know how big your yard is. This video would be fine if you had coyotes or something else to keep them out but you need videos on keeping your yard safe from flying animals and also ones for digging. For digging you can put chicken wire under the ground and cover it up, they don’t like the feeling of digging that stuff up. There’s also steal bars I seen that you stick in the ground to prevent digging but I think they could get expensive buying them if you have a big yard. There’s other ideas for the digging part. Also, I put their own poop in their holes and cover back up, they don’t like that, they find a different spot to dog then but they don’t dog in the same spot like if they’re digging to get out the fence. All those holes by the fence you fill with their poop and they won’t dig there anymore.

@michaeldriver4809
@michaeldriver4809 2 года назад
I assume the problem you have is the drill wandering off where you want to drill the tube? if so, you need to get a punch and punch a mark where you want the centre of the hole to be. Also use a small drill bit for the first hole, then you can easily enlarge with a larger drill bit. Make sure you are using drill bits suitable for steel, and helps to dab a little oil on the bit for drilling steel.

@majacrmarkers
@majacrmarkers 5 лет назад
I built this and it didn't work. My first problem was getting the wire taught enough. I finally conquered that. My nextproblem was the bracket just bent with the weight of the dogs on the pvc, so again it all just dropped, didn't spin and the dogs can actually get over better than before. I have two dogs, the mama goes inbetween the pvc roller and the welded wire fence, the baby goes over with a paw on the now sagging roller. I am also not sure that my rollers ever rolled all that well. I wonder if it depends on the size of the inner pvc tube. I'm totally annoyed at this point. Plus it is ugly. I was going to spray it green if it worked... Maybe bamboo could work? I have a ton of bamboo growing.
@Yoursassyself
@Yoursassyself 5 лет назад
Oh no, so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I'm not a professional builder, just a dog owner that needed a solution and this worked for us so I wanted to share. Ours is still up and working on our fence, but it definitely has to roll before you can consider it complete, so it may have been the internal pipe that was the problem. I say continue experimenting and see what works best for you and share when you do. Thanks!
@lisacrawford1378
@lisacrawford1378 2 года назад
I have similar concerns about it holding the weight of a large dog or even a coyote. I'm going to use a metal rod for the inside and attach that directly to the bracket which will fix the sagging wire problem, but it won't fix the bendable bracket problem. Not sure what to do about that part.

this is absolutely a horrible idea which actually increases the risk for cats. Predators can either dig underneath or can totally jump over the fence, and the cat won't be able to escape. If you are serious about protecting your cat, this needs to be much much more robust and closed, to prevents howls and hawks and coyotes from getting in.
