This episode made me so happy having played the game and recognizing so many moments. Loved the Joel/Ellie moments and I'm sold completely on Bella as her. Also, Im betting it's a bloater in that room cuz it reminded me of the basement scene from the game

I think what this show does really well is humanizing the antagonists. We get more lore on the hunters/bandits, and we see that despite the ruthlessness, they're still people, they're a community trying to make it, and anyone who has survived this long, just like Joel and Tess, has to be dangerous. We see the kid hunter attacking Joel, trying to kill him and avenge his friends/people, but after getting shot and paralyzed by Ellie, we see the fear and vulnerability coming out of him. That gets to Ellie because at first, she's trying to save Joel from a bad person, but afterward, she becomes conflicted and troubled by the fact that this person she shot is a kid/teenager like her (although roughly a bit older than Ellie, possibly close to early 20s), and is begging for his life and to see his mother. She retreats behind the wall and Joel, who is already hardened by the world, puts the kid out of his misery, we see a single teardrop from her face as she struggles to come to terms with what she's done. Despite all that, it's nice to see Joel and Ellie's interactions together, how we slowly see Joel warming up to Ellie, being annoyed by her shitty puns and jokes, but deep down he enjoys that. Even as going as far as trusting her with a gun. It was also nice to see Joel console Ellie about what she did, that way it won't hinder her conscience in the near future. When being pushed into an environment where every day you do whatever it takes to live and see another morning, you start to appreciate the small little things in life that make you human (or at least any semblance of humanity), whether it be a 20-year-old can of Chef Boyardee, an old cassette tape, or an outdated pun book. :) I also like how the antagonist, Kathleen, doesn't really look like a threat/villain because there aren't really villains in the Last of Us, they're all just people doing horrible things to each other to survive. (Although, there are horrible people who are just complete psychopaths) It wasn't until we see her shooting the doctor, is when we see her true colors. She's the leader of a resistance group against Fedra and in a lot of stories/media, resistance groups are usually depicted as the "good guys" against the oppressive government, but we don't usually see the ugly side of the "good guys" and I find that very interesting with these antagonistic factions of the Last of Us, seeing through the eyes of the enemies.

Their chemistry is just absolutely perfect. Love the slow bonding over the pun book and that they kept the porno mag scene! 😅

Why does Joel and Ellie laughing together makes me want to cry? Don't answer that. I know.

I’d like to envision that scene of Joel and Ellie laughing as both Bella and Pedro breaking character due to the pun. Was super cute as I couldn’t stop gushing about it!

The tank filling was for sure a nod to the hydro dam part in the game where Joel is like “I know what it is, I don’t know how it works”

As soon as I saw her pull out *THE* joke book I actually threw my fists sky high. And I’m so glad that they added the diarrhea joke because I was afraid they would *run* out of ideas. But seriously, this show is so insanely faithful to the game that it doesn’t feel like a show but almost like and expansion pass/extended cut of the game. Even though I do miss the scene of Joel teaching Ellie how to use a rifle and then saying “No matter what happens, you make every show count” I still love him teaching her how to use the pistol because a) it shows the bond between these two growing and b) it tells the audience that Ellie had some training from FEDRA so her learning quickly feels natural. And now we are getting to see the more human side of the people who were trying to kill Joel and Ellie in Kansas City (instead of Pittsburgh like in the game). Neil Druckman and Craig Mazin said their inspiration came from how throughout history there have been cases where the revolution that usurps a repressive regime becomes just as bad if not worse than the previous regime. Also loved that we got to see Jeffery Pierce (aka Tommy from the games) finally show up in the show!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

While not the best episode, it certainly continued the relationship between Joel and Ellie (which is good). I liked seeing the original voice of Tommy in this. Also, seeing Melanie Lynskey from Yellowjackets as the leader of the Hunters is good casting. Also... Henry and Sam have entered the chat, y'all!!!

I really liked that this was largely a zombie free episode. Instead we get to focus on Joel and Ellie's burgeoning bond and the threat that other humans are. I'm looking forward to learning more about Kathleen and Perry next week. And who the hell is Henry?

I'm really loving this show and I haven't even played the game yet, This show is making me look even more forward to playing it. With that guy Brian what made that scene worse was he asked for his mommy before Joel took care of him. One thing that I'm hoping is that with the change of what happened in Bill and Frank's story that I would love to see happen. People have mentioned Bill in the game journeying with Joel and Ellie for a while so I thought since the change with Bill and Tess as well as other minor changes have made this like a multiverse version of the game. They could make changes for Bill not being with them by having it be Henry and Sam. I keep getting the feeling that something bad happened with Henry and his brother Sam in the game so having them take up Bill's spot in the game and travel with Joel and Ellie for a while like two or three episodes give us more time with them before something happens or even not have them die at all if that was their fate in the game. They probably won't do that, but it would be nice to see. Maybe we'll get an 1 hr 20 min backstory on them like with Bill and Frank for episode 5 and come back to this part of the story episode 6. I really enjoyed the episode and reaction 👍☝✌ out.

Exactly, now Kathleen knows how it feels, and I would be more with her if after all, she would've punished, sure, but was fair with those collaborators (who were probably collaborators due to unfortunate circunstances) Fedra was worse there than in other places I understand, not ok, but don't exchange Fedra for an anarchist dictatorship. Dont be like them. Well, you see her ending, and really everybody in that town.
