People will never understand how deep & powerful they conversation was. Ghost: I’m giving you a chance to come clean. Rolla: Nah that ain’t it, you offering me a chance to convince you. Damn rolla
Rolla was oddly calm. Like, he basically staring at death in the eyes with the calmest expression. Sure, maybe it was because he was high, but even so, he knew his fate and maintained his truth and beliefs.
Rolla had a point. He would've already met his maker before Ghost even say down in his kitchen. Him questioning Rolla only proved his reluctance to kill him
@@dope4205I agree julio and rolla should lasted long in the original power I always hated that snakes like dre and cristobal live longer than real ones
rolla 100% won this psychological exchange that another reason why ghost shot him. also If I’m not mistaken this is when ghost started back drinking again.. had to live with that fact he killed a innocent man.
Not an innocent man. A kid he brought up in the game. He trusted him and knew he wasn’t lying but still had to find a good reason to convince them but couldn’t.
Scary how Ghost can dissociate himself like that. So that he doesn’t have to feel the emotions that comes with killing a boy you raised. Almost like how Tariq did it w/ Ghost. They cry for a second then they keep moving.
@Ron Swanson man all this crazy fan talk makes me anxious to watch raising Kanan, ik its mostly gon be about Kanan but i really hope they show how they became how they are, i wanna see white boy carl (if ykyk)😂
Ghost and Tariq scene was powerful to me and very relatable I sometimes picture myself doing this to my deadbeat father while day dreaming this same event will happen to me like a cycle I wouldn’t be deadbeat it will probably be something I did to his mother that I regret and I get killed with him thinking he’s protecting her
Ghost deserve it for betraying kanan and putting him in prison for 10 years. You think anyone who gets betrayed by the very dude he raised is going to let him get away with it.
@@tribalchief4066 Kanan aint want Ghost to move on. Ghost wanted to think outside of the drug game but Kanan was stubborn and wanted to stick with just doing drugs. Is Ghost wrong? Yea but he coulda killed him and honestly none of the shi nvr happens but he let his emotions get in the way jst like with Rolla
Going back to this scene it’s odd to see that Rolla was so close to Ghost that he knew about Ghost drinking problem, that’s why he knew Ghost wouldn’t take the whiskey. It wasn’t until after that he drank it to numb himself. Rolla was close to him, but unfortunately a as lol the main characters kill people they love.
It was shot totally different. Cinematography, soundtrack, and even the acting was different. The first two seasons they actually captured the feel of New York and didn’t just focus on up close and dramatic style acting like Young and the Restless. Season 1 and season 2 was truly the apex of Power. They got more into a soap opera vibe as the show grew. The first two seasons and maybe some of season 3 was filmed different.
That’s how it is. He saw the approach Ghost took against someone he had known all his life. He knew he was done in that moment and there wasn’t anything he could say to save himself
@@asanitationstompout8473 Man! Sometimes I see something on screen and i'll tell someone i'm watching with that this is another example of why I would never choose that business full time. Too many variables at play.
@@tylerdenton1829 yes I've watch the wire many times religiously altho when I saw Bodie death for the first time i used to think it was Michael who killed him
Scene has strong Wire vibes, even down to the dialogue of Rolla saying "Don't make me no never mind" which was what Marlo said when asked about killing his biggest enemy. Rolla played O-Dog on the Wire who was one of the hitters for Marlo's crew. Marlo also has a brief part in Power too as the Haitian.
Qdubb was smart as a mf to like rolla...they knew what was up. This why I see why they call Ghost book smart cause in a couple aspects he lacked street sense.
@@jakeviouspollard9287 because he gave up the plug while telling them he’s good on them he has a new plug. So kanan knew right there he wasn’t that smart. You never miss an opportunity to miss the opportunity quote from raising Kanan
Looking back ghost looks crazy weak here and Rolla is a giant. Ghost almost looks like a confused boy. Which is ironic because hes saying to Rolla look me in m eye like a man. Ghost couldnt handle the truth in the moment tho.
Ya that pressure came from Tommy and Ruiz. Then Kanan was already sabotaging nobody just knew. Ghost knew it wasn’t 100% true but listened to everyone else instead of his self like he normally do.
Sometimes you are put into impossible situations. Ghost knew Rolla was innocent but needed him to take this one for the team. Sometimes you need to play along to flush out a rat or mole. Rolla death wasn’t in vain. Rolla changed the subject because he knew eventually ghost will get to the truth and was willing to be that sacrifice. Ghost was hoping Rolla would act out of character when he called Kane his friend to make pulling that trigger a little easier, but Rolla remained calm and said, “ No, I’m your friend.” ( Ghost tearing up) Ghost couldn’t kill Rolla, more like he had an out of body experience, forcing himself to pull the trigger. People underestimate & forget how smart James is, they had a whole team from the DOJ & FBI looking for him. This death really messed James up.
BINGO. Ghost had no choice tbh, at that time it was the only thing that made sense that it would be Rolla behind the hits. But as we all know it wasn’t. It was either kill Rolla or ghost whole business would be destroyed and Lobos would be on his case
Too add to this , ghost had to kill rolla he was once in a similar position with kanan & breeze and we seen how dat worked out . Like kanan said “you raised rolla you wrote the blueprint for his moves why wouldn’t he wanna take out the boss it’s the same shit you did with breeze “ even if rolla wasn’t behind this eventually he was gonna come for ghost everybody wants the top spot
this scene was dope and sad this was the only hit that bothered ghost I don't think he really believed rolla was involved he and julio were the only ones totally loyal to him
@@bugg2032 if your responding to what he said ghost is called this because he wasn’t only silent it’s because if you was targeted you would never hear him coming if he was targeted he would never get caught he had the ability to disappear if you saw him there you would never see him leave ghost truly was good at what he did Tasha was right but she was wrong for telling him that’s what he should
I also think Ghost was scared of his own karma cause of what he did to Breeze, thinking about how someone he raised/put on would do him the same way. And with this coming from Kanan, was probably the icing on the cake for Kanan. Ghost was a dead man ever since he killed Rolla. We just didn’t know it yet.
Rolla: Damn, you actually said that shit like you truly believe it. Ghost: I do. Rolla: Nah you don’t. Cause if you did my black ass wouldn’t have even had a chance to sit down 😂💯
Kanan did it to get Rolla territory. Rolla said he was going to be back on them corners, so Ghost knew that Rolla would never give up the territory willingly.
Before power became big I was running down the street to watch this on my cousins TV because I didn't have cable at my dad's house while I was visiting. I was running to her house [she lived down the road from my dad] now everyone's caught on and I thought I'd be the only one caring about this gem and them boom it got big....and now it's nowhere what it use to be.
So let me get this right, he couldn't bring himself to kill Shawn who actually did him dirty with his wife and even tried to kill him, but he had no problem squeezing the trigger on Rolla who he raised and brought into the game over allegations?
Season 2 was the best but season 1 is right on they ass lol. The way Power was going with the first two seasons had them on track for the best drama series ever. Still a great show but it’s more of a soap opera now.
Looking back at the series this makes no sense to me now. In a bubble Kanan plan was smart. But Ghost took the word of a guy who he had locked up. And he took the life of someone like a son to him for the guy who he wanted locked up for the rest of his life? Ghost operates a little differently then this. Every other time in the series he is more calculated but they had him act irrational here. I say irrational because I think the scene where it look like his vision is blurry I think he is struggling with the decision to kill him.
I think it’s because not only that he didn’t trust kanan but if he spared rolla then Ruiz and tommy would have done the job or pull out of the organization
That’s the idea of power. Ghost is a man who is tryin to escape the drug game but everyone around him is either against it or irrational to the cause. Everyone was against him from all sides, Ruiz and on top of Tommy’s irrationality, it caused ghost to slip up this one time and be irrational himself. It causes him seek counseling from a man he locked up. Ghost strategies every move to bring him closer to the goal of legitimacy. But everyone and everything is opposed to that ideal. Either due to his pas transgressions or due to things that are of his control
@@elenawinters8164 thewire.fandom.com/wiki/Darius_Hill his code name was definitely odog on the wire. The one from Menace society was the first one but it was one on the wire.
I was like damn he killed he my nigga rolla at first but now that I rewatched the wire I now realized he’s the one that killed Brodie so now I’m kind of cool wit this scene I feel like it’s karma😂😂
