Honestly I love these huge machines. At the same time I"m in bed and just the sound of these engines put me in a state of relaxation. Sleepy time now hehehee

I'm exactly the same. A parade of vintage machinery puts me straight to sleep but not because it's boring.

I'm envious. I've always loved these old iron machines. Even as a kid I was checking out the books with the pics of these babies in it. There's never anything like this at all here in central NY state.

There's a lot more than just tractors at Rollag. If you're able to come, you won't be disappointed.

Fascinating. I like the "reverse boiler tube" arrangement for cooling on some of them, especially the big boys early on. Can't you just see the carry-over from steam engines?

1:12 good way to stop the rad leaks, just cap off the tubes from both ends. 3:00 quite a lot of valve lift. Must be a half inch of travel.

What's the history of these things? The UK has nothing like this. We have some huge shows. I just went to the Great Dorset Steam Fair that had 522 full-size steam traction engines and around 400 antique tractors along with vintage cars, bikes, trucks (we say lorries!) and stationary engines but, out of all that, just one Rumely oil pull and that wasn't a very big one. I get why your tractors were so big. Massive fields that needed cultivating but why are tractors all around the same size now and why were there always smaller tractors around?
@nightlightabcd
@nightlightabcd 5 лет назад
Back in the day, many farms were on forty acres, while larger farms had bigger tractors and out west, even bigger fields! Different mode;ls for different needs! I have seen the Great Dorset Steam Fair videos, they are great! Maybe you are referring to the working scale model replicas!

The Brits were to busy pulling plows with cables instead of making bigger tractors with wider wheels to pull 24 to 50 bottom plows.
