This is an older video which I made before I got my new wheels. In this video I have the previous Miro 18x9.5 +34 wheels with 255 tires.

Great vid I can tell you've done this a lot. I tried upping my tire size and noticed a lot of rubbing and also some rubbing on the inner rear fender wall. Wondering if it's even worth it to pull my fenders if I have rubbing on the inside of the fender like this. Also was wondering how you make sure both sides are even is there any point to measure?
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 8 месяцев назад
Just do one side and then you can either measure from the inside of the wheel well to the fender edge, or put the wheel back on and measure how much it was pulled and do the other side equally. There is no science to this.

You know your stuff far more than most! With that being said, I'm wanting to run a 265/40 tire on a 18×9.5+35... at stock height, with rolled and pulled fenders, do you think I could get away with a 40 series, or would that be too tall even for stock with rolled and pulled fenders? That piece is silicone, zero issues if you heat it up and scrape it off. Don't try to pull it off. It gets painted with the car but that's the same principle as masking tape.

@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 5 лет назад
@@BrainBoostIQ I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same way when I wanted to run 10.5 wheels and everyone told me it can't be done or takes too much work. I started off with 9.5 and worked my way up. The trick is the basic roll and pull, then some trimming work on the fender and bumper connections. You have to remove the fender liner clips/bolts altogether from the top areas. I trimmed the front plastic liners near the fenders as they can't connect anymore due to the roll. The rear, i removed the liners completely and sprayed the insides with special rubberized truck liner coating which works super well (autozone, etc). Also, you have to run stiffer springs on your coilovers. A stiff rear sway bar also helps a ton by eliminating the extra travel of each wheel separately, but it won't hinder comfort overall.

Hey man, so i know it’s not recommended to get 10.5 wheels but i pulled the trigger because i just hate the look of flat wheels and i’m also a fan of a little poke to make it look more aggressive. I picked up a set of matte bronze esr SR12 18x10.5 +22 wheels and i think i’m going to use the stock tire on them. So i know you said somewhere, (i can’t remember where) but you said you had to remove something in the inner rear fenders to make this size fit, and you said you used a plastic spray paint inside or something? can you please clarify on what you did and if this is completely necessary to do? i’m trying to do the most prep possible before i roll the fenders and really want to get the best advice possible as it’s my first time ever rolling fenders. I’m on fortune auto coilovers as well and i think i’ll go with your recommendation on the -2 camber as well.
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 5 лет назад
hey, I removed the rear fender liners completely and sprayed the inside with this underbody rubberized paint (nasty stuff though when you spray it...). Then I shaved the plastic where the fenders connect to the bumper (watch my mod overview video for more detail on that). The front fender liners are also trimmed quite a bit, but I'd recommend not doing that and trying to somehow make them "work" so you don't get dirt inside of the fenders. Mine just kept rubbing so I cut them. You'll have to hammer the fenders quite a bit on the inside too as rolling and pulling is simply not enough. Also, I run 10k springs so the car is pretty stiff, so if you run anything like 8k, your wheels go up more into the fenders and will rub no matter what on certain bumps. I'd recommend the perrin 25mm sway bar as it really locks the rear end from titter-tottering without sacrificing comfort. Same with the front, if you can get a stiff sway bar, do it. Set them to the stiffest hole (upgrade the tie links too). Other than this, you should be fine at first and then just drive and figure out what else needs work. It took me weeks to resolve my rubbing. Another thing is, I would strongly advise buying 255 or 265 tires for 10.5 as no legit tire place will work on your car if you mount 245 onto this rim. 255 is the minimum tire width for the rim width according to discount tire, and that's the only place I go to for wheel work as they have the best balancing machines. Avoid any regular tire place, even if it seems good. They are all hit or miss and you'll have some steering wheel vibration on the freeway unless it's 100% balanced on a proper machine (hunter machines are the best it seems). Hit me up on IG if you need any more help.

@@TheShaddix thanks for the info, living in wisconsin with a lot of snow and rain, do you still think i should remove the rear fender liners? not really sure of the purpose but i would assume its to keep out water/dirt? so what youre saying is the only way to make these wheels fit in the rear is to remove the liners? also, what do you mean by "hammering" the fenders, can you explain how you did that please? thanks again for all the help
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 5 лет назад
@@Vinnyc3nzo the rubber coat paint is what replaces the liner in the rear, it acts as a tough barrier and dries like hard rubber so you don't hear all the small rocks hitting it. It looks matte black and oem, i like it a lot, but when you spray it it's messy and stinks a lot. I'd still do it again! For the front I'd keep the liners. And yes it'll rub a lot on the liners because of their shape near the wheel arches. Also, the main issue is that when you roll and pull the fenders, the liner can no longer attach to the fender edge as that area is flattened and there are no clips anymore. By hammering what you do is take a plastic or rubber mallet, hold one hand on the outside of the fender area and hammer in the inside, so this basically flattens the lip even more. You want it as flat as possible without cracking the paint. To avoid that just make sure you use heat, a lot of it. The fender has to feel hot to the touch where you can't hold your hand on it for that long. This enables the paint to soften and flex as you do the work. Without the heat or with insufficient heat it's guaranteed cracks right on the edge. With all the fender work I've done to my car I didn't crack a single area of it because I used my heatgun constantly. So, heat when you roll and pull, and heat when you hammer. With this 18x10.5 +22 you really need to create a lot of room. There are more things to adjust/remove like the metal connection in the rear that needs to be filed down. All of this is doable if you have a garage and a lot of time, but ask yourself if it's worth it first before you proceed. A lot of people ask me about this, but so far only one guy has done what I did and it looks awesome (literally a copy of my setup all the way). So yeah, you can do it if you want to.
