Thanks a lot! I am still the proud owner of a Rolleiflex F 3,5, which I bought in 1974 with the money I earned doing nightshifts on a production line. Between your camera and mine, nothing spectacular changed, except perhaps the self cocking shutter.
The Old Standard is a very nice ...ol camera and yes is very nice to handle even if i am not a big fun of tlrs. Also you can find it in a reasonable price so someone can try his/her hands on medium format with ...style 😀
620? The first Rolleiflex took #117 film, which had a smaller spool flange, a wooden core, and looks very similar in size to 620. The film also doesn't go "through" the bottom roller- this feature is found in the later Rolleiflex. The roller spindle in the the Standard/622 Rolleiflex is just a normal roller.
Thanks for the Rolleiflex Standard portrait. I have the old Rolleiflex Automat from my great uncle and occasionally use it. Built ca. 1937. The main difference is that you load the film between two spindles. The camera automatically "feels" where the film is taped to the backing paper and automatically advances to the first frame. That is, you have to manually advance it, of course, but the camera stops you, when the first frame is reached. No red window needed. No aligning of arrows with marks in the magazine needed. It also automatically cocks the shutter when you advance the film. And of course it prevents double exposure as well as advancing before shooting the frame. But unfortunately it has no spirit level. I believe that the "Automat" and the "Standard" were produced at the same time, representing the high end and the budget offering. Even more budget was the Rolleicord (4x4 on 127 film). Unfortunately the reflex mirror got relatively blind since the 1980ies, when I shot my first photos. Therefore the viewing image on the ground glass is now much less bright than it used to be.
Beautiful camera, wonderful pics, thanks! Btw, 1:31: on this model, you don’t need to feed the film through the spindle, it doesn’t have the automatic film loading of the later Automat. Yours is a Old Standard, made from 1932-38 (it should be ca. 1937), the new Standard is a simplified version of the Automat, produced in the forties and is quite uncommon.
