COASTER BOT you should do that, make a quiz on things you have covered on the channel about roller coaster function, restraints, safety mechanisms, element names, and so on.
All my friends : "YOU GO UPSIDE DOWN ON A LOOP SND LIKE LOOP 5 TIMES WOAH" Me being a rollercoaster enthusiast : "Uhm that's what you call a Cobra roll, Zero-G roll, corkscrew, dive loop and a heartline roll"
@@PianoBoyLiam This video counts the cobra roll (one element) as two inversions though, or going upside-down two times (Your username looks cool in blue, by the way)
would you like a corked roll? a tip-out corner? or a twist n' shout? or even a 270° double inverting corner stall? the person who can name all coasters those elements are found on gets a cookie
the double inverting corner stall can be found on untamed, the twist n shout is a rollercoaster in itself, i think a tip out corner can be found on mumbo jumbo at flaming land, and I think the corked roll element can be found on the smiler as it's first element although I could be wrong
Corked roll: Storm chaser Tip out corner: Storm chaser Twist and shout: lightning rod 270° double inverting corner stall: untamed I think I deserve a Cookie ;-)
A lot of enthusiasts talk about the Double Flippity Whippy Slippy on Untamed as one of the best elements out there, but you can't forget the *a linguistic representation of the guitar solo from Pink Floyd's Money* on Firechaser Express. Personally, i'm all about a good Slithering Snaker Side to Side like on Maverick or Copperhead Strike.
@@Sam-il5yw you have to put the asterisks on both ends, otherwise you'd be disgracing David Gilmour's guitar solo. That element can only be represented etymologically by every single note in that section of the song.
I've always had trouble Identifying certain elements. I've found myself calling all the inverting elements "barrel rolls" except for the loop or simply "inversions"
Great coverage. I would also add a note on how a lot of the element types and styles were tied to their manufacturers. For example, how the original Boomerang was made by Arrow and commonly became referred to as the "Arrow Boomerang" despite the first installation in the Orient Express at Worlds of Fun referring to it as the "Kamikaze Curve". Then there was the Vekoma Boomerang which gave birth to the B&M Cobra Roll. Also, Arrow's boomerang was comprised of two "sidewinders" and one installation had the second sidewinder exiting the opposite side of the prevailing direction of travel, resulting in the "Bowtie" element on Dragon Mountain from 1983. Admittedly, the more that element design became more fluid and versatile, and thus less modular, the differences between the manufacturers have dissipated and aren't as clear cut as they were from 1975 through about 1991.
The only ride I've been on with a sea serpent roll is Medusa at Discovery kingdom, which gives a surprising amount of lateral gs for a floorless. Great ride, despite the lack of theming.
My favourite element has to be the duelling Staffordshire Knot as it feels great to go through and can provide absolutely excellent views/photo chances from off-ride.
My favorite element has got to be the simple corkscrew. Put a corkscrew and a turn right after it and I don’t know what’s going on for the rest of the ride. I don’t quite grey out but it’s always the corkscrews that catch me off guard… batman the ride and nighthawk for example. I also love heartline rolls. They’re just epic and add great diversity to rides. They look cool too
My favorites are zero g stalls and rolls. They are very fun on thunderbird! They give a lot of hang time and what feels like airtime. Storm chasers inversions are epic! The first drop is crazy. It’s very fun and gives airtime, and then there is ejector hills! Wow I just wrote an essay on coasters... 😂
thanks so much for this. I watch these rollercoaster videos all the time but cannot always wrap my head around even some of the commonly used elements. thanks!
YES! I needed this coaster video. I design coasters and do POV's but I never know 80% of the names of everything haha. I'm going to watch this video 10 times so I remember everything! Thanks for making this! You published this on my Birthday also which is ironic :P SUBSCRIBED!
My favourite is the cobra roll in the front seat on Colossus. Especially when you exit out the cobra roll, it's a great feeling. Also some good elements include the outward banked turn on Icon, zero G roll on Nemesis Inferno, and the ejector airtime hill on Icon.
Hey don't forget the Rollover ! It starts with a half loop, then the half of a heartline roll that puts riders back to normal. Then an other half heartline roll that turns riders upside down and finaly a half loop !
top 5 favorite elements -sustained ejector hill -stengel dive -zero g roll -hydraulic or compressed air launch -rapid changes in direction / blackout turns omg thats why maverick is my favorite roller coaster
Lagoon roll, Maxx dive, and Untamed's 270° double-inverting corner stall seem to open a new trend in inversion design. I wonder what would come next. Quad-inverting pretzel knot, perhaps?
Isn’t that one of those mythical elements that coaster parents tell their kids about? That the magical ride operator might bestow upon them but only if they’re well behaved all day.... 😉✨🎢
Wow! I'd love to watch a video of this filmed from the first car - I love roller coasters. I'd rather be in the first car, but we don't have anything like this in Europe that I've found, alas.
90 degree banked sideways airtime hills! Especially if alternating between left and right in a double up or double down configuration But I've always loved the non inverting airtime heavy style of coaster (especially woodies)
My faviourate element on a coaster is a good old classic full inversion loop or 2 or 3 if I can get it...its just so satisfying going from a big deep dive off a hill plunging down in to a plain full inversion...the anticipation is amazing and it dosnt even need to be fast to enjoy just cruise on threw it all...love it miss it...the first coaster I actually remember the feeling of was torn down years ago...so sad...buy buy thunder loop thriller from dreamworld Queensland Australia.
I still remember my first vertical loop...and that was on the Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure in 2015, back when it was known as California Screamin'. Silver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm gave me more firsts in terms of inverting elements, being the cobra roll, the zero-g roll, and the two corkscrews.
To be exact, I dunno whether I prefer the feeling of weightlessness from the zero-g roll or the sense of speed going down the latter half of a cobra roll. It's really hard to decide.
I love the pretzel loops on B&M flyers. The best example is the one on Tatzu at Six Flags Magic Mountain. To get the best effect, ride in the very back row.
Okay, I didn't see this element listed, so I don't know what it's called, but it was my favorite element of a now-defunct coaster. Kings Island had a stand-up coaster in the 90s called King Cobra. The coaster was meh, except for this element. At the end of the ride, when you're heading back to the station, the left rail would dip down a little, causing the train to tilt sideways quickly before righting itself. You couldn't see it, so it was a surprise to new riders, and especially since it was a section of track where you thought all the elements were done. It was funny because there were always a few shrieks from people who thought we were falling over! :)
It may be simple, but I love the floater airtime on Diamonback’s camelbacks, that’s probably my favorite coaster at the moment, as I’ve only ridden the coasters at Cedar Point and Kings Island. I’m an Ohio Coaster Fan
