This was one of my favorite games featuring the San Francisco Bay Area Bombers verses the Red Devils. Charlie O'Connell sure has his hands full with Jo Jo Stafford and Bobby Sever of the Red Devils. In this second period to play Charlie O'Connell matches skating agility over Bob Woodberry which showcases the athleticism of both men pivot skaters. In this game is a very young Alfonso Reyes as well as James Paul also star with their skating ability who later on became team Captains.

In 1976, we used these orange & brown strip jerseys, at the Washington Coliseum. I wore #34. Michael Spriggins, from Philadelphia, was my coach, along with Douglas Lynn, Dwight & others. Feels great to look back to that time period. 😊

Thanks for uploading this! I haven't watched them for years, and really glad I found this. This is the way roller derby was meant to be played, not like the tamed down versions I found recently on YT.

I was born in 46. I think the best years were in the middle 50s through the late 70s for disco and roller derby.

I really miss these days. Kzar Stadium, Sam Francisco Cow Palace, Oakland Auditorium was packed with fans and the excitement seeing Carol Peanut Myers, Joanie Western, Delores Tucker, Charlie O'Connell, Tony Roman, Cliff Butler.... the 🔥 fire was L.I.T!!!

Not needed. Derby was beginning to lose it's sheen & doing a few of the same antics many hardcore Derby fans didn't like about it's rival, Roller Games.

This was an attempt to capitalize on the Billie Jean King/Bobby Riggs match that was big at that time. Didn't work.

Sadly agree with you. Even though I am a hardcore Roller Derby fan of that time period,. wasn't needed @ all. Though I understood the Billie Jean King/Bobbie Riggs angle, not needed. Looked too much like Roller Games!
