This is an amazing video! I remember watching this a few months ago before I could even skate backwards and now this is EXACTLY the move I've been trying to do to turn from back to front smoothly. Your video explains it so well! For me I wasn't having the weight on the pivot foot at the start. Thanks for teaching the way!
What a great breakdown. Thank you for doing both sides and also showing how to style it up. It's nice with all the repeated recordings, ha I don't need to back it up and replay as much (like if it were only shown one time). Thank you. ❤️💪💐
This has been so hard for me, I can do one foot (each side)I just can’t seem to lift both at the same time. I’m going to get this today. Thank you so much for the awesome vids!!! And kudos to whoever asked for this!
Thank you so much for the great tutorials. You’re so thorough and I love all of the angles and slo mo. I was surprised how quickly I was able to get this down, thanks to you. More please!
Appreciate these tutorials dude, you might just be the source I needed to surprise that special lady in my life and rekindle something thats currently in a rough patch. Stay well.
Thank you for this amazing tutorial. Luckily i can already do the grapevine. I'm going to have so much fun practicing it. Can't wait to show it off at my local rink. 😁💜
u made my saturday night fam..frfr....i wanna go try this shit right now in the middle of my street at12am.....i was gonna hit the jb party at the rink tonight but imma go in the morning so i can practice b4 work at the rink and it will wide for me. tonight too great skaters for me. im almost there !!!! 1.
Thanks for the tutorials, Sk8Fam! For this smooth back to front move, I have a few questions: 1) How important is knee flexibility? I'm not sure I can bend my knees inward as much as you can. 2) Is it true that doing this move on a smooth wood surface is a completely different ballgame? 3) Can this move be done going relatively fast as well? I think I see a lot of JB skaters throw this in with fast footwork. You are about the only one I could find that's done a tutorial on this move. God bless!
knee flexibility is very important. if you are stiff this move is more difficult. def a dif ball game on a wood surface. there is more slide indoor vs out door so it is smoother, faster, and less taxing on the legs for sure. yes lots of ppl do this move fast, and tie it into multiple spins/turns, including jb skaters. once u get used to it u can speed it up as much as you can handle.
wo wo wo ...thankyou man .. ive been hung upon this for a while ...like your tutorial weight on the back leg ,bend knee and shift around yaa .. ill try .. cheers
Thanks so much for this breakdown, I've been trying this for a long time. Thought the key was shifting weight to that outside toe. I'll be drilling this now and looking to unlock this skill. Thanks again freind.
i can do awesome moves and dance in skates on the flat pile carpet, but, once i step foot on that wood floor, its over! i turn into a stiff, zombie robot
Sounds likes a comfort zone and confidence thing. Idk how break that. But keep trying! U will get figure out how to break through that wall, I’m sure of it!
👍👍👍SHO'NUFF & YESSIR!!!! 'preciate the shout out my man. Thats the exact move I was talking about! Superb video with excellent examples. You made that move look way too easy 😆I really appreciate you putting this video together. I cant wait to add this to my arsenal😎. Im looking forward to your future videos. Again, thank you thank you thank you!!!!
@@Sk8Fam yea no problem man im looking forward for more tutorials cause i used to use roller blades and i recently switched to the 4 wheels like one day ago and im pretty decent already 🙂
Thank you. Can you show the footwork for the shuffle skate I see in alot of videos. I cant seem to be able to break it down. Im going to try this move you taught us. Keep up the videos! Great work
This smooth 180 is the point from Grapevine. There are some slight differences namely pushing one heel out to the side in the beginning. It's necessary when skating at speed. Grapevine can be forced (I certainly force my own) but this 180 needs to be executed cleanly [or you'll be paying some floor tax].
Best tutorial out there for this move. I just started skating 3 months ago off Nd on but I'm able to skate backwards on my toes Nd Ive been wanting to learn this to transition out of the nose to add combos and get better at moving thru traffic this shit helped me learn it in 5 mins inside my living room appreciate the hell outta you man. I got a question tho what is it that you do to make your skates look that way without them feeling too lose or is that something u learn to skate with when I try to fold my tounge down and skate on my toes my heel will come out and then slap back to position Is there a way to tie my laces under the tounge or what ?
My spray painted skates I keep that loose so I can do tricks where I take my foot out and put it back on. Having them loose your heel def can come out of them easy lol no way to avoid it. U get used to it and learn what tricks u can and can’t do. It’s a trade off for sure. But it also depends on the skate. Those skates I have on have thick padding and I skate in thick socks so it grips a little. If i wore my other skates like this they would fall off every 2 seconds lol
Taking the skate off while I'm skating! That's my worst fear! Lol! Why?! When I see people taking their skates off in the rink it makes me nervous like it's gonna happen to me, but I lace my sk8s so tight that'll never happen. I did drop my toe stop outdoor skating yesterday, that was exciting.
Awesome video..it improved my skate gone for realz! I had many people that been skating for year giving me props an asking how to do it. I shared tour video with every one here in pasadena. Can you make a video one 360 smooth transitions and a basic routine? Thanks from pasadena California
@@Sk8Fam I have to cheat a lil and use my toe stop on my right foot to pivot but I work with it to make this illusion lol thanks sk8fam you got me out here Killin it
I got a vid request 😁 One skate turn around and back. Like you did at the end... I know their is some weight shift to front toes or back heel. But how quick. Arm placement. Balance etc. OR A video on toe spins, dipped low. I know on regular spins, back straight, legs bent, but I see vids where that is totally not happening.
Thank you for thé thorough, technical, and charming tutorial! Inverted spins are super fun but challenging! I really liked when you showed us your JB combo. Can you do a video on coming up with a combo or how to freestyle when going around the rink? 💜💜💜💜💜🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Love your tutorials man thanks for sharing! I'm a while off from balancing on both feet 2 wheels confidently. I can do it, but barely, with very little control.. is it just a practice thing or do you know any prep exercises I can do?
u dont have to stay on em for long so u dont have to specifically learn that first, but it will help u in general so its a good skill to pick up anyway
when u come out of the move, the foot u are using to pivot, drag it forward. also there is some drop off in speed when turning around. so if u are moving slow going backwards, u will barely move if at all when u turn around. so get more comfortable skating faster when going backwards
Thank you for explaining the steps so briefly. I want to start skating again after about 25 years and always had issues with turning. I also could not turn the other way. Do you have outdoor wheels on for skating on the tennis courts? Any other surface you can recommend to practice on with indoor wheels?
when I hit the tennis courts I use outdoor wheels usually. most of my friends don't tho. with indoor wheels ay type of outdoor surface can chip your wheels, so I wouldn't recommend it lol. but I skate in my basement or kitchen with my indoor wheels sometimes
@@Sk8Fam, thanks for such a prompt reply and for reminding me that there is a reason there are indoor wheels! I hope to get my wheels, bearings, and bushings replaced before I can attempt anything. Maybe I'll keep my old Americam Dream indoor wheels for practice on a tennis court! Would love to attend one of the out of town rink events sometime. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions!
@@robinpiller2 I def have an old set of indoor wheels that I use outside sometime. so thats a good idea. if the tennis court is in good condition and not a lot of rocks then its a decent roll. and yes please do visit an event! its so much fun and positive energy in the building!
I SAY I TRIED TO SKATE BUT NEVER REALLY KNEW THE RIGHT MOVES!😳 I KNOW I NEED SKATE LESSONS! I GOTTA GET ON LEARNING 🧐 😆 MAD CAUSE ALL THIS TIME I CALLED MYSELF TRYING TO SKATE STILL NEVER LEARNED THE PROPER WAY SKATE
@@Sk8Fam tuts, from 2 steps to what to learn after that. I just bought me a pair of skates, been going to the tennis courts just learning balance at the moment.
@@neowave7398 this trick is prolly easier with a loose truck but it honestly once u learn it it will be easy no matter what skate u are in. once u get the mechanics it will flow effortlessly
@@Sk8Fam no doubt I got some shit coming and I meant it was fifth day on quad sk8s and I could ride backwards but I’m not afraid to fall I sk8 boarded for 18 years so I’m learning fast asf
Lol i just got some they come in the mail Friday , i have outdoor gummy wheels and it was hard for me to do tricks because my center of gravity was higher than everyone else’s with ridells so hopefully these work
@@Sk8Fam - Just surfing throw the K0vEd. Loved your video. Was never a very good skater myself, but my wife was OK. Was shocked when I recognized your background. Did a lot of bicycle riding from 1963 to 1983. Mostly 20 inch. Don't you allow links?
I haven’t been skating much lately but we can link at a rink when time allows. I’m coaching hs football right now so I don’t have as much time lol. U got ig?
