Hello All!
I put together some footage over the past few weeks documenting the proccess of trying out and adjusting to my new Harlick Boots with the Roll Line Evo plates. This is just the first of many videos I will share with the Harlicks. But I will still be using the Moxi Boots as well as Moon Boots too. I’m working towards getting a more consistent schedule going but don’t want to write a check my butt can’t cash. Lol! I know my schedule will open up a bit once the kiddos are out of school for the summer. See you again soon.

I think you mean the trucks when you’re speaking about the plate. Kinda confused me until you actually showed yourself adjusting them.

Lol! Yup. Sorry about that. Wished I would have caught that before I uploaded. 💜

Those EVO plates are an odd plate made for professional freestyle dance skaters. The front and rear trucks have different angles, back more stable than front, so they feel different in the front (squirrely) and stable in the back. They are a very specific use plate, not a universal do everything plate. I would not have put those on at your current level of skating. A Roll Line Variant M or Energy plate would be more appropriate for your type and level of skating. The reason for the 2 different truck angles on the EVO is for more stability when landing jumps, and the ability to rotate easier into spins all in one plate. Also those cushions look like the Urethane Green extra flexible ones which will give more articulation to your trucks, I would recommend getting stiffer cushions. Get the Clear Hard Urethane and the Clear Blue Medium Urethane and try those and see how you like the feel of the skate with stiffer suspension. I think you would like the hard upper cushion with a medium lower cushion, will give good stability on edge with good turning. Both my Daughter's used to compete in Figure, Dance, and Freestyle roller skating. Picked up a few things over the years. Have fun skating!!

You have the wrong bearing on those plates. It should be a 7mm (627) bearing and you have a 8mm (608) bearing. It is potentially damaging the trucks on the $900 plate you bought. Also, before you adjust your truck, you need to loosen the locking nut on the kingpin. Otherwise you are likely stripping the click action and damaging your plates. Good luck. 👍🏻

I ordered what I thought was size 7mm for them! Going to check that out. Thank you

Are these your first Roll-Line plates? Roll Line plates are such a different beast, and each of their plates are different. If you find that you're really cranking down on that kingpin nut to tighten your trucks, you may want to try buying harder cushions so you have some more resistance and stability on your edges. I have had to do that with several of my Roll Lines, because they just have too much responsiveness and I like deeper, solid edges that don't go anywhere. There's a reason my favorite setups are Snyders, and it's largely because those plates grab an edge and don't let it go until you do, while Roll-Line plates tend to let go of edges with the least amount of intention. Great for playing, but they can feel rather squirrelly unless you customize your cushions and your trucks. It looks like the Evo come with stock medium cushions? You could try buying the clear harder and either go solid clear, or mix and match and have a hard upper and medium lower, to keep some responsiveness but add some stability to your edges. Your little is SO cute!! Mine started quad skating, and now she does inlines because all the cool kids do and she cares about that sort of thing now, haha.

Thank you so much for all of this information! The Roll Lines came INCREDIBLY lose. They were not tightened at all. Buuut yes this is my first time skating on them. What I’m having the most issue with is it feels like the plate should have been a bit more centered and not so far back. I don’t feel like I have the right amount of support under the balls of my feet and am really stuck on what I should do. I do see what you are saying though and am going to take that into consideration. Thank you again, and that’s awesome your little one skates. 💜

@@Tani.Coy.RollerMama Mmmm, totally fair. I know my artistic mounts have longer wheelbases, so the wheels are further up in front of the ball of my foot rather than behind it. Majority of my rhythm mounts have the front wheels further back behind the ball of my foot. I have a Spin plate and a Snyder that are both slightly shorter, but I don't wear toe stops with those, so I just fall forward on the toes as part of what I'm doing. It does take some time for the brain to adjust; I'm sure the more you wear them, the better they'll feel. You could also try and get a longer plate if it really makes you miserable over time. I don't think the plate is necessarily too far back so much as you're probably just used to a longer plate, and this was sized shorter rather than longer. All my artistic mounts are that far back on the heel, but the wheelbase is just longer. You could almost go up a size in plates, if it really bothers you, or you're just used to that front wheel being to the front of the ball of your foot. Buuuuut I bet if you change the cushions and make little adjustments and just skate the poo out of them, they'll feel better with time. 😊

Is the plate the correct size for your boot? It looks as if the plate sits too far back and might be too small for the boot.

I'd recommend maybe watching some videos about the roll line plates!! I've heard great things about them! Just so you can see how others adjust them or to learn more about how to tweak them! 💜💞🛼🦋 I know the channel Rollerfit has some videos about it. It's her favorite plate! Deezskates has videos about the plate as well! I'm so excited for this new skate journey for you, I cannot wait to see how you transform! You'll get them broken in and they'll feel like a charm in no time! 💜💞 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0HxLWypoj7Q.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iT6-g8jbkrw.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O_Cpk-CMvk8.html My Powerdyne Reactor Neo Plate has the click action nuts for my truck adjustment too! It took a while for me to get used to. But I love it. Once you find the sweet spot of where you like it, it's perfect!

I just now saw this comment! Thank you for sharing those videos. I will try to check them out. I also watched Nicole Fiores video about her Roll Lines too. I am starting to get used to them thankfully. I think they just came to me with the trucks EXTREMELY lose so tightening them has helped a ton. I’m excited too and don’t mind it taking some time. 💜🦋

Some more thoughts on these. When you setup skates for outdoor use they have a longer wheelbase for stability, the setup you have here is setup for indoor professional freestyle skating. Completely different setups. You are used to a long wheelbase outdoor skate, not a dance skate. The front axle setup under the ball of your foot is so you can do spins on the ball of your foot, it is always going to feel terribly squirrely outside. Longer wheelbase also makes it easier to go over bumps and cracks in pavement along with larger diameter soft compound wheels, the short wheelbase of the EVO setup is going to be a rough ride outside. I would recommend keeping the Harlick/EVO setup for indoor or super smooth surfaces, and keep your Moxi or Moonboots for your trail running. The outdoor setup is much safer for you on your trail runs.

Thanks for all the insight! I got the plates for spins and jumps and they were recommended to me when I asked. I can’t skate inside right now although will in the future. I can always repaint the boots and replace plates. And I only trail skated in them for a bit to break in the boot. I bet you have so many wonderful memories from watching your kiddos skate and you definitely picked up a lot of wisdom! 💜🦋

My first set of outdoor wheels where Atom Pulse, they worked great for me skating on sidewalks and parking lots. They do seem to roll over cracks, small pebbles and twigs with no problem.

I got Chayas and they have a short wheel base, too. I miss the longer wheel base of my Impalas because I'm more of a cruiser
