So helpful! I have some moxi beach bunnies and suregrip fames. I agree the moxis are better. Of course, I paid less for the suregrip and they are still good skates. The thing I love about the skate market is that you pretty much get what you pay for - quality is directly related to price.
My Moxi beach bunnies smelled horrible , like this plastic smell for such a long time. Hated that about them . But I guess they were a good less expensive option when getting back in skates after 34 years
@@ife-oluwaakinmola9039 already bought ones at an online shop, luckily they fit, but going to a irl shop would be SOOO better for understand the sizing and it would cause less stress
I was going to purchase moonlight skates but I looked at the Instagram and I get the feeling “black-owned” is a marketing ploy. Looking at the owner, the models of the skates, and her friends/who she posts with I don’t feel as if purchasing from her is keeping my dollar in the black community. I will get the beach bunny’s instead for now
Yeah I go to the website and see all them non-melanated fingers & legs 🧐... went back to Google to try another search of "Moonlight Roller".... back to the website👩🏾💻... and now I'm confused. Black owned with no black representation? 🤔😒 #issanoforme
Based on your video and a couple hours of looking, I've fallen in love with one specific model. They're the Chicago women's quad skates; pink wheels, brown sole, and white high-top boot. They're beautiful, and as low as 50$ on eBay.
I just bought the Chicago skates (pink wheels). Wheels are terrible. You will have to work twice as hard maintain speed and sometimes the wheels seem to jam. Also after skating my big toe is throbbing. Sizing up will make the skates too big so I'm just going to take them back and get another brand. Udate:I got Impala skates. Much better!
I feel like roller skating will be super easy for me, because I have done ice skating for years and roller blading. But to be fair, I haven't done it in a whilee.
Thank you so much for the information! I'm about to get a pair of Candi Girl Skates, I know they're not Moxie but they're still a good brand. These skates won't be my first pair of skates but the first pair I take 'seriously' you could say. I'm buying hybrid wheels so I don't have to switch the wheels everytime I skate indoor or outdoor, dying the wheels to a color I choose, new bearings to make em faster, and some love. I'm very excited to start my skating journey. I can't afford the "elite" roller skating brands like Moxie or Moonlight Roller but I think Candi Girl will do just fine for now 😄
@@blob8865 I'm a beginner too lol but I've been doing my research. For hybrid wheels I recommend the Radar Wheels "Villian Wheels" they're white or the Moxi hybrid wheels. Personally I'm getting the Villian wheels just so I can dye them. Also, I do recommend the hybrid wheels as they don't need to be changed from indoor to outdoor wheels :).
4:31 personally i think roller derby its really good cause of how affordable it is, and comfortable. I used to be a roller blader, I still do use mine so i don't know a lot about roller skates. Don't take my word for it.
Hi! Is there any specific reason as to why you recommend the Roller Derby’s for beginners? Is it just because it’s cheaper? Also great vid girl!!❤️ Edit: is there any specific Roller Derby style you recommend?
Thanks for video! Whats the main difference you feel with the outdoor wheels vs the wheels that come with beach bunnies? I have a pair on order and wonder if I need to order wheels for a newly dance skater. :)
hi! yeah so you won’t need new wheels in the beginning in my opinion. I spent 2 1/2 months on the stock beach bunny wheels and did just fine. however if you have the money and you want to upgrade your wheels right away go for it! radar energy’s are great outdoor wheels and rollerbones and great indoor wheels
i’ve seen people with those that’s a pretty good beginner skater! i’d suggest though upgrading the wheels and toe stop especially if you’re planning to skate outside
I got the same kind too (cause I watched this after purchasing lol and everything else is all sold out!) What wheels do I change them with for outdoor dance skating? (and how, help! Ahahha)
beach bunnies! they will last you much longer but chaya’s are definitely on the lower end price wise so it depends how much you’d like to spend! my beach bunnies were $150
i didn’t really have much foot pain actually! i think if it was pain it was more soreness. but if you are having pain you may want to make sure the size is a good fit or maybe you need a little bigger? sometimes also lacing your skates differently can help!
fr.. i got my 1st pair of skates a while ago and their worn out now, i need better quality ones noww. i rlly want the moxi beach bunny ones but i’m broke 😂😭❤️
Hii! I would like to know what do you think about the Impala roller skates, do you think they're good for beginners? and also, are they worth the price? Because I was looking at the website and they're all beautiful but the price is always over the $100. So I would really love to hear your opinion!
Hi!! That's a great question so Impala skates can be a good beginner skate but if you believe that you will be skating a lot especially if you want to skate everyday I would definetly suggest getting another brand. The reason is because Impala's are known for lifting from the heel after only a few months of usage and many people have to upgrade to another skate. So personally I never recommend them because I think it is a waste of money since they will have to be replaced so soon. But any of the skates I mentioned in this video are great for beginners!
I have a question, when you buy skates how do you know what size you need? Do you get a size up from your normal shoes incase you grow or something? I am so confused.
Yes! Outdoor wheels you can find lots of places since they’re coming back in stock whether that’s an online or in person skate shop or directly from the company website. I’ve heard great things about Radar Energy (that’s what I have i love them), Atom Pulse Wheels, Moxi Gummy Wheels!
I have a question on sizing. So I’m getting my first pair of skates the midi Molly, but I’m a size 10 in women’s so they say for women that we should size down so I should get. Size 9 so that’s technically an 8 in moxies right? It says 8 is 9-9.5 in women’s
I would say pretty normal sizing but they do tend to be a more narrow fit. Also if you typically get a size 7 or 8 when half sizes aren't available I would say get that size. :). But it is always better to go bigger just in case the others are too small but if there is a return policy don't worry about that! You can also see if there are any shops nearby that you can try them on in person.
Watch Indy Jamma Jones video on buying beginner skates. Outside wheels are more gummy and soft and some recommended bigger size ones for skating with uneven surfaces. There are some wheels that you can use both indoor and outdoor
by the “durometer” rating aka how hard/soft the wheel is. outdoor wheels range from about 70a-85a & are soft the higher the number the harder the wheels are, Indoor wheels range from 90a & up.
it depends on what brand of skates you’re getting! some brands like moxi for example you want to get one size down but not all skates are like that so be sure to check the size chart!
I just bought some skates the wheels it comes with are 58mm 82A wheels would you say those are outdoor wheels? if not does anyone now what size to buy and where to buy it?
I wanna get in to skating as I found some really cute roller skates from litimee (there the outdoor black roller skates for beginners) does anyone know if there any good and if I should buy them or not 😊
Hi! I know this comment was a month ago so I am not sure if you purchase them already but I personally do not know much about the litimee skates I've actually never heard of them before. Maybe if there are people using the #litimeeskates on instagram you can dm them and see what their thoughts are?
