Same for me... Haven't actually cared about the story since liyue (minus babies in sundry even though I did enjoy that region the most....) This feels up my alley with the mystery and the music and whatnot. Was only going to go for Furina bc archon. Now after half of the arching quest part 2, I'm excited for Neu, Clorinde, and Mafia not just bc they look cool but I actually like them. Mafia might end up in my top 5, who knows. Needless to say I'm happily surprised.
@@SuleimanTheMagnificent71618 its not that inazuma characters were bad, its just there personalities ended up all being the same monotone, cool, can’t do this 1 thing gimmick, so after the archon quest finished every character started to feel bland, still good just very bland
To be honest, I do think Lyney is actually pretty good, he does some insane amount of damage in a rotation easy and fast to execute... and he's actually fun to play
Yeah but u gotta think like there are better pyro characters and playing him with his inconvient play style is just weird because he is a charged bow character that forces u to go to the center of conflict to play u just be better off pulling for yelan because she is actually a solid character
@hydra_drizz2164 I think you don't realize that this unit does fckin 200k/charged attack, and for someone that despise hu taos playstyle and didn't use her for more than 1 year, I'm happy to have a new pyro dps that clearly outscales her. He's also really, really fun to play, the stack mechanic, his ult and his e makes his rotation dynamic, nothing to do with a ganyu where you simply sit 200m of the enemy and spam your charged. So he's fun, he has surely the most damage/rotation potential of all the pyro characters and they made him likable (God his story quest), so what to wish more ? They finally released a good character again :,) (And yes Yelan is top 4 or 5 units in the game but if you have been playing for a long time, there is a big chance you already pulled for her at this point)
Since I already have Yelan (C2), I decided to pull on Lyney’s banner at first to try and obtain C6 Lynette (yeah risky ik) and ended up getting her (C6) with C1 Lyney in the end, character gameplay wise for me is kinda cool cause it’s like throwing a C4 in Cod, after the first act was over I have to agree with you, he was better than I expected him to be story wise
I was pleasantly surprised by all the characters from fontaine, when I wasn't expecting to like them as much as I do. The quest made me want him as well lol
The only characters I can really connect with is Lyney, Lynette, and Navia for their depressing backstories, incredible designs, and personality. I only like Furina for her design and personality. Neuvillette bc he’s a DILF and he’s hot but idk anything about his lore yet to make me feel for him emotionally. As far as Clorinde we literally rarely see her but she’s Navia GF so she gets a pass.
Its fun seeing tectone getting hype for a genshin cherecter and the fact that the story a thing that he and many dont like really makes us realise how much they nailed act 1 and 2 so far
Now as someone whose passion for Genshin has dropped to the point where I may not wanna play it at all anymore, I have no real gripes with the story itself - it's the pacing of the story and how it is told that bugs me. For example, Paimon. When Paimon is used as just the character Paimon within the context of the story, she's great. But her also being the POV character/pseudo-MC stand-in/narrator of events/plot device/etc. it gets damn annoying. I like Paimon as a character, but Hoyo uses her in the story way too much. Not only do they use her way too much, but they use her as a tool for way too many things in the story and it feels cheap, and it feels like they're taking shortcuts in their story-telling. Sometimes, less is more. And only using Paimon, the character, would be nice. Also, I feel like the MC is grossly under-utilised within the story itself. I would love - instead of using dialogue boxes for every single thing they say - if Hoyo actually lets us hear the MC talk. It'd be very interesting to hear the MC's takes on the story's events and watching Paimon have some banter with the MC, showcasing the chemistry that the two of them have instead of telling us about their chemistry and never really showing it. I wish the dialogue choice boxes were relegated to only being used when we have to make a choice in place of the MC. The MC is no longer the typical self-insert MC that acts as a stand-in of the player's POV. They are also their own character within the world of Teyvat, they have their own storyline that we are experiencing and I'd like to hear their own thoughts and opinions in regards to the events that take place in the story as the story takes place. I just hoped that at some point, they'd start to let the MC have actual voice lines while playing through the story, rather than only relegating them to some pivotal cutscenes and the character sheet. Honestly, thinking about it now, how I feel about Genshin's storytelling is similar to how I feel about the Star Wars prequels' storytelling. Growing up, the only one I really liked was Episode 3. But after the repeated watches through the years plus the extended media (i.e. the Clone Wars and Rebels shows, and everything else), I've grown to love the storyline of the prequel era, how it connects with the original trilogy thematically and how it fundamentally changes and adds to Darth Vader's character, giving context to the man he was before he was a Sith - or as he says - the man he killed. But the prequel movies themselves could have been written and paced a whole lot better. And so could Genshin's story. The overarching story is really compelling, but the devil's in the details, and the way they tell and how they pace the events of the story REALLY bugs me, because this story really does have potential. But it's told horrendously, in my opinion. PS: Wow they're of the George Lucas school of Story Telling. Brilliant with the overarching story, themes and abstract concepts/ideas - but not the best when it comes to the nitty-gritty details.
@@offcue4102the storytelling has also improved, they've utilized Paimon really well. The pacing is astronomically better here. If you can afford the time, you should give it a shot
I have no issues with the story deliverance in Sumeru and Fontaine. Honestly my main gripe with Paimon is that she sometimes repeated why we've already known. But they seems to lessen that so far since Sumeru so I'm honestly OK with the pacing. @@offcue4102
@@offcue4102 I think it's weird how there are fully voiced conversations between Paimon and the traveler on the MC-profile screen (that barely anyone cares about) yet in the entire main story there's only a handful of sentences ever said by MC. Just let MC talk, for crying out loud.
It’s honestly nice to see Teccy posting up Genshin content again. I’m happy that he’s trying to give the game a fair chance. I don’t know how long he’s gonna stick with the game this time but ima just enjoy every second of it until then
I got extremely worried that he decided to spend but I unferstoof what he felt when a story quest made him love the character. I did that on yoimiya's act 2 and used my guaranteed on her. Its worth it and using it on a character you love is fine. Hopefully he doesnt get forced to pull every banner tho
It's insane how good all the quests are. Literally every quest was entertaining or horrifying or interesting. Still long or frustrating sometimes, but I'm definitely more invested. I have a feeling they just everything more tragic tho
Trust me, I was 100 percent not rolling for Lyney. And look what happened after the Archon quest. I got him using my guaranteed that was meant for my c2 zhongli and then I went for his weapon. Didn't have to drop any money, but having 40 pulls left... Im scared that I won't have enough by 4.1 lolol
Im going to be completely honest, im just so glad hes so much more happy. These past few months have been so fun watching him, because when hes happy we are all happy.
I was the same. I pulled for Lyney cause I fell in love with his character in the story and his gameplay was really fun. I was gonna roll for Yelan in my 2nd acc cause I needed a hydro there (no Xingqiu at that time), and I was reaching hard pity. One last pull, I changed banner. Logically, Yelan was a better choice for a fairly new acc, but I pulled for Lyney cause I couldn't resist him. I never regretted it. He's my most invested character in my 2nd acc lol. I love him sm.
Considering I didn’t bother pulling for him until like 2 days ago he’s amazing, even on a tacky 2 piece build and yelan weapon his attacks are mental but his character has depth and is at least INTERESTING, it was so refreshing to pull for someone because of actually enjoying the character and not just looks
Honestly, for 4.0 exploration, Lyney and Lynette are really good. So getting them will boost your fun alot, they can even make you skip some puzzles. However, I wouldn't advise to get Lyney for abyss, mono pyro is carried by anemo characters and Bennett.
I'll be honest, I was so excited when we got the preview for him back when the game first released, and other than Cyno (who I'm very happy with, but was wishing he was hydro), Lyney was my favorite in terms of design. Hoped he wasn't bow, and when he was, his kit turned me away, however, after playing him, he's kinda enjoyable. So I think that I will go for him after Furina and Arlecchino
so I found out that while swimming with Lyney or Lynette and you hold sprint and jump to the surface they do a cool dolphin jump out the water. Hoping its a new thing for all fontaine characters as it doesn't seem to do it for non-fontaine characters
Dudeee i literally hopped back on after a 6 month break for fontaine and pulled a few times hoping to have a reason to continue playing and i got him! Also the nostalgia of genshin just hit me so hard im definitely getting back into it
Liney has grown on me, but nothing tops big papa Zhongli. I can't waste a single primo, i need to get Zhongli!!! And maybe his daughter Hu Tao afterwards. But I also want Fucalors so much. And Clorinde. Being a F2P in Genshin is torture...
I'm really tempted to pull for Lyney because they gave us Lynette casually. Big Brain Move Hoyo but I don't like them, but I gotta admit, I'm VERY tempted almost on Kafka levels except I broke like a twig for Kafka.
I also am not a fan of his pants thing but I really like that our interaction with him isn’t all good and straightforward, all fontaine characters feel a bit more suspicious and not quite trustworthy to me and I am a fan
Nice. The one copy rule. Ive been doing that since i finally understood how the wishing by tens worked fir getting characters. Which was around the time of Eula's first banner.
I love lyney, before I did the AQ I thought he would be too cheeky for my taste and I would like lynette better but he really won me over, even more than lynette (who's still cool). ❤ and his story quest is great too, I teared up at the animation at the end
I was so ready to skip Lyney until I did the Archon quest, I had to pull for him, everything about him is just so good what a lovely character luv him so much
I went for yelans weapon and with 20 or so pity i got his. I took the risk and bought the 55 dollar pack for 40 wishes, didnt get him, the exact wish after those after opening some chests, I got him. My first 5 star with signature weapon after 2,5 years…
I really like his aesthetic, and its a nice bonis that hes not only good but great at dmg. Bonus hes best as mono pyro ao I dont even have to worry about reactions
just came back to genshin aswell ... lost 50/50 to fkin dehya ... my account is not just loaded with sub dps and supports, no my only DD are fkin Klee , Diluc and Razor ... but i only pulled damn 5 star bows like what the hell
