Though a fan of these guys my entire fifty five years, somehow I missed this. One of those songs that will never grow old, become boring, or be forgotten. An excellent choice to cover for the greatest band of all time.

These guys have always stepped up to remind Americans of our bounteous pop music heritage.

Fantastic version of Dobie Gray's hit from decades ago. I know some groups (like the Stones and Beatles) were initially reluctant to add tracks "found in the vault" to a remastered album, which were recorded during the making of that classic album. But thank God they did, all these songs that never made "the cut" are pure gold now.

They finally put this out on the tattoo you 40th anniversary. I seen the boys in October (4th) 2021 and I wish they played this gem. Stones rule even after all these years . UNTOUCHABLE!

They're not just the greatest because of the music, they're are the greatest because they lived it to the fullest, and so close to the danger zone, yet never cried about their substance abuse, or how there are so many bad influences in the biz, like so many bands have. The Stones carry their own fkn water! And for me, that's saying something.

I am eagerly waiting for the Its Only Rock & Roll box set...i did read somewhere that the Rolling Stones did record more enough songs for a double album. This cover, i find it superior to the song they included on the album and the "b" side "Everything is turnig to gold".

For eons, everyone knew this was an IORR outtake, i.e. Mick Taylor on guitar. Yet when the Tattoo You deluxe edition came out a few yrs ago, we were told it was a Some Girls outtake. I guess they didn't want to pay MT... again.

Dobie Gray takes a lot of beating, but as the Stones always do, and did with other soul songs like Just My Imagination they make this their own. Sure it's someone else's song, but they never fall into the karaoke category.

After making my post here, I researched Mr. Gray, which I've done a few times before. His smash hit 'Drift Away', didn't reach no. 1, but rather #5. Still, it was a million seller, and is the song in which he's identified by. His rendition of 'The In Crowd' ('65) came before Ramsey Lewis's version (just months though), and peaked at #13 on Billboards Hot 100, while Lewis's got up to #5. Petula Clark jumped into the 'In Crowd' fray, also that year, however her's did not chart nearly as well as Gray's and Lewis's-barely cracking the Billboard Top 100. (#96)
