I thought of you and your kids this week when I was making a new recipe - I made a vegan "taco meat" by mixing chopped up pecans (could also use walnuts), a little tomato sauce, and taco seasoning and a splash of water and then sautéing it to heat through and soften the nuts a bit. I swear its as good if not better than taco bell meat! I'm sure you could add some sautéed onions or mushrooms or something else as well to it, but it was really good as it was.

You can use chickpeas instead of pecans, or even chopped portobello mushrooms for less $$$, and delicious options. Cooked Southern vegetarian dishes for my husband for 55+ years... But had to make that food taste good for my six sons when they were growing up. ❤

Tried the cherry pie pretty good have an apple left to bake…but those Brown Sugar Sweet potato chips..Gracious..I ate half a bag in one sitting!!! They are out of this world 🌎

The pumpkin roll used to have a cream cheese frosting filling. Either last year or the year before it switched to what it is now. Before the switch you could only find it in the refrigerated section that sometimes holds seasonal foods.

glad to hear this. i was wondering why they were no longer refrigerated. My late father and i always enjoyed the pumpkin roll... very good sponge cake and the filling is also very good.. then and now... it's still good.

Aldi's ready made Pad Thai $10 is really really good ! I found that It Tastes a LOT better than the Street Kitchen one that Walmart sells . But....fair warning !! it contains next to no meat or veg . And so I'm glad that I had also bought a bag of frozen grilled chicken strips $6-7 bucks, , which is also really good to add in , as well as a pack of fresh mushrooms! Yes , the entire thing was just under $20, but we still got 4 big delicious servings !! Enjoy your trip away!

Forgot to say -- I make Carrabbas dipping spices using fresh garlic! It makes it extra good. I have seen other recipes use garlic from the jar.

Making sandwich bread is so easy, especially if you get a bread machine. The machine does all the work. The shape of the bread is definitely different, although you could make the dough in the machine and then bake it in the oven. But making it in the bread machine frees you up to do so many other things.

There are machines with loaf pans that look normal. I have a 2009 zojirushi bread machine I use almost 2 X a week! You are right, it's cheap, easy & delicious.

WOW eggs are high in Michigan! Here in CT, about 4 weeks ago they went to $3.57 for a week, but have been at $2.40 consistently for several weeks. Also, for anyone who likes cream cheese (sorry, Matt), the Pumpkin Spice and Salted Caramel flavors are pretty terrific imho.

The white one is from Peru. Here in Houston for 2.99 a glass, which is a lot cheaper than in other stores. It tastes ok, no comparison with fresh white asparagus in Germany, but mixed with peas and carrots or mushrooms a tasty side dish, steamed or creamed. I bought 3 glasses.
