Great presentation and very good choice of era for classic cars. Especially in the 80s. Most other brands of cars were more about fuel efficiency rather than power, prestige, comfort and style. I am a Lincoln Continental fan. How about Lincoln using the Rolls-Royce style grill for the later 70s and 80s. LOL I definitely like this model year of Rolls-Royce you have here. It does not look like a cube or a space ship with wheels. Very classy automobile indeed! Great job James!

You are completely right. Lincoln “copied the SPUR “style.” The first car I ever had was a ‘69 Lincoln, with the “Continental Doors.” It is a good concept for a future videos… Thanks!”🇬🇧

The first car that I bought when I signed with the KCKings, was a ‘69 Lincoln Continental, the the Continental doors. It was metallic emerald green, with a built in 8 track tape player. I wish I had it back. That was when having a big car with a big V8 was not a big thing… it make Rolls and old big cars, rear.🇬🇧

Awesome, I just bought my first Bentley Arnage last Thursday with 43,680 original miles. This is one gorgeous vehicle with no remorse. It will be parked next to my CLS 400 in my garage. I’m also from Brooklyn but now in Florida. Love your presentation

Dear sir, Just for your information the spirt of ecstasy was modelled on Lord beaulieu’s secretary and didn’t appear on Rolls Royces until after 1910 so very early Royces didn’t have any mascot on the bonnet / hood. Another point worth mentioning is you said the engine was good for 500,000 miles what you should have said was before a major rebuild as unlike a cast iron block being aluminium the cylinders are replaceable as such once replaced its good for another 500,000 miles. Rolls Royces also hold the distinction of another interesting fact that 70% of all the cars they built are still on the road Excellent video look forward to seeing more

This video does a great job showing you all around the 1985 Rolls Royce Silver Spur. But as James mentioned, Roll Royces use a different language when describing their cars. The pull straps in the back seat are called, "Dutchess Straps". Also, the horsepower of the engines in that generation were described as being "adequate". Rolls Royces are just a different bring of automobile. If you appreciate total build quality, you really can't buy a better car. Yes, they are expensive to maintain BUT the earlier models, Spirits/Spurs from 1981-1987 are probably the most afffordable. And those years don't have the expensive "active suspension" that the later models have which cost more to maintain. Great video.

I purchased a 1990 Silver Spur II for my 60th birthday. She, Elizabeth, is having some minor mechanical restoration. The items being restored are items infrequently not perform. (I am trying to learn Rolls Royce language). Major items: heater core, two hydraulic cylinders, for the brakes and power steering, Air Conditioning Control Module, alternator, fuel sender, (fuel gage), and power passenger seat module. At the same time, major tune up. Plugs, fuel filtre, (cylinder wire were recently replaced). Oil and transmission service. Replace hoses and belts. These items are maintenance items. Surprisingly, the costs of the maintenance items weren’t outrageous. The leather and wood in Elizabeth is in very good condition. I can’t wait to ride in the car again. I did join the Rolls Royce Owner’s Club. There’s a wealth of information about Rolls Royce and Bentley, by people with a passion for these motor cars. I’m looking forward to getting together with other people with the passion for their motor cars.

Enjoying “Elizabeth”. She goes out for a quick drive every morning. I’m waiting for a badge bar to be delivered and installed at the base of the front grill. I’ve been collecting car badges to put on the badge bar.

Honest video, James! Doug DeMuro is nothing more than a guy who researches a car on Google, leases/borrows the car from a dealer or an individual and shoots a video! You OWN a Rolls Royce and KNOW the vehicle! Creative video for sure. Only change would be the "styling rating"! I would give the Spur a "8" whereas the Shadow/Wrath a "10"!

When I was growing up my father thought me...”Never Knock Another’s Success!.” “Make You’re Own!” That’s what I’m trying to do with my channel. It’s a labor of love. I’m in my small way trying to guide people who either never thought they could have a Rolls or Bentley, like myself, or someone who needs “TIPS” in the up keep. For people close to my area, there’s Josh who can help them with Machanic work. There’s Susan who can help them with the restoring of their wood panels and dash, as well as people who are going to meet Harold, who can help with their tops. My channel will take longer to develop, it’s a set age group (55-70) but that’s ok...I just have to “keep at it” CHEERS!🇬🇧

The long wheel base of the Silver Shadow was not the Wraith. It was called the Silver Shadow LWB. The long wheel base version of the Silver Shadow II was the Silver Wraith II. The Silver Wraith was a completely different model manufactured between 1946 and 1958. Nothing to do with the Silver Shadow. Also the Wraith, as you call it, was produced between 1938 and 1939. Now, under the BMW ownership, there is a new Wraith that has been in production between 2013 and 2023 now replaced by the Spectre

They are very comfortable actually. I would “strongly suggest” the Silver Spur. This cars are great if you intend to drive any type of distance. Stay away from the 90’s models. They have better handling, better lower noise and good a/c. However more computer components and more complicated sensors. They can be a “nightmare. Make sure you have a trusted Machanic before you take the plunge…spread the word and stay in touch.👍🇬🇧
