When I arrived in the Netherlands from Australia in 2019, I had the opportunity to stay in a massive mansion in Heemstede. One Saturday the owners of the mansion offered me a tour in their 1971 Rolls Royce.
Remarkably the car already has electric window openers, an almost 7 litre engine, and swallows almost 20 litres of fuel per 100 km.
From Heemstede we initially passed by Aerdenhout, a village dominated by many stately homes and villas, each with a unique style or architecture, and mostly built in the period 1920-1930. Allegedly, the wealthiest town in the Netherlands.
The tour ended at Huis ter Duin, a 5 star hotel at Noordwijk beach, where we sat down in a nice cafe, and subsequently had a walk on the beach.
