On the long run Transylvania will become a separate country. The process is already in its' early stages. Investments, infrastructure, taxation, the economy also geography are decisive in this matter. Bucharest is relying more and more on tax money from Transylvania without reinvesting in the region. It's only the matter of time before the local population starts to amalgamate against the wholesale robbing of the region. The people of Transylvania regardless of ethnicity will unite over Bucharest's greed. Money is a great motivator. Artificially created problems such as this one, is easily sold to those Romanians who were settled here by previous governments from far away regions of the country and don't have any knowledge of the history of Transylvania. Politicians in Bucharest are short sited, they can't think in longer terms then the election cycle. Czechoslovakia split, Yugoslavia broke up, USSR gone. This direction of history will reach Romania in the not so far future. Transylvania has its' own history and culture that is separate from the Trans-Carpathian part of Romania. Ever more people are realizing, that they are being used by Bucharest. Never mind Szekely autonomy, the hole region will break off. Bucharest is out of touch with the region. Ultimately they will fail due to taxation practices. Transylvania gravitates westward and Bucharest is far away not just in term of distance but culturally and historically as well. Transylvania has the potential to become Switzerland of the east, once independence is realized.
