Read RP’s autobiography, he was a playa and she didn’t like it but put up with him. He was a real jerk, choosing to stay in London instead of being in LA for fear he’d have to behave like a grownup.

And he was editing a film he’d shot in London. That’s why he wasn’t there at the time of the murders. He was to arrive in the next week or two.

It's hard to believe that she would be almost 80 years old today, and her unborn son would be 52, time marches on with or without us, it is quite relentless. Her younger sister recently auctioned off much of her clothing and personal items, including her wedding dress seen in this clip; that in itself is sort of sad.

She had a life here in England for a while during the 1960's and made films here. She was interviewed around Carnaby Street in London [on YT], married, RP on 20th Jan 1968 at Royal Kensington Offices for civil marriages [here plus another one on YT] and lived with RP at a Mews house of Eaton Square in London for a while. Sad it's only the American ST we always hear about - I aim to go and see the Royal Kensington Offices one day !!!!!

How ironic is it that Candice Bergen was actually in attendance at their wedding. Remember... at that very time in her life, she and her boyfriend (Terry Melcher) was living at 10050 Cielo Dr. Only a year and a 1/2 later, that would prove to be the site of the infamous Tate murders!

Polanski married the much younger Emmanuelle on August 30, 1989....21 days after the 20th anniversary of Sharon's death. His first child was born on what wouldve been he and Sharon's 25th wedding anniversary, January 20, 1993.

@Melanie Jarrett I would say he lives with some sorrow, like anybody who loses a loved one would, Roman Polanski is one the most complex personalities that came out of the entertainment industry, remember he did the Macbeth movie right after her death, and expressed his feelings of death through that film, it had some gruesome death scenes, it's tough to define a person like him

@Melanie Jarrett Yes, a lot of Polanski's films dealt with paranoia and claustrophobia , like the famous Rosemary's Baby, not so famous ones like Tenant, Repulsion, Knife in the Water, so he seemed to have a complex personality dealing with international fame while having a paranoid personality. You know he accused John Phillips of killing Sharon, got a blood kit somehow and was swiping John's cars and house, put a meat cleaver to his throat, yes intriguing fellow

Watson and Frykowski were dealing drugs, now remember the Manson family was in a fix at this time, the Straight Satan's were on them because of Bobby Beausoleil and Bruce Davis allegedly selling them tainted drugs, Tex Watson had just stole drugs from Bernard lotsapoppa Crowe, they needed money and they needed it fast, Watson was probably gonna pull the same stunt on Frykowski, steal his drugs and money, the bonus was his rich friends, and the next night was no different, hit a wealthy home that they'd already been to before, they moved in that circle of celebrities, so they for sure knew Melcher was gone, they knew who was there, especially Folger and Frykowski, the others were in the wrong place at the wrong time

Sharon loved and adored Roman. She called off her engagement to Jay for Roman. My guess is because Jay wasn't that Alpha male she desired. Her father was in the military and set the mold . Roman never hid who he was he told her from day 1 I play around as did many back in the summer of love. I think alot of people want to blame Roman instead of the Manson family who took her life and felt nothing. As she begged for the baby's life.

Had they really been married it would have been inconvenient after Sharon was 'murdered' in _The Theater Of The Real_ . Imagine being married to someone but you can never be seen together. Roman was high-profile and would have to avoid his wife. It makes more sense, then, to just use an actress to pretend to be his wife...so that when she's 'murdered' in his Theater of the Real production they can just drop their pretend relationship. Roman directed the production. That's why one of the victims was named 'Rosemary' - since Rosemary's baby had just been out in theaters the previous year.

@Jonie Spivey Her close friend (and Valley of the Dolls co-star) Barbara Parkins. She had lunched with Sharon by the poolside on the afternoon of Aug. 8th, 1969.

@Melanie Jarrett Hi Melanie, definitely-since 1976. As an 11 year-old schoolboy back then, it was the Beatles connection (I had recently 'discovered' them a couple of years before that and had fallen hard!) had piqued my curiosity and after watching the premiere of the television film, Helter Skelter, I became 'hooked', for lack of a better word. I read Bugliosi's book shortly thereafter and eventually, The Family. So yeah, I'm definitely not a 'newbie' (I still haven't bothered to watch the Once Upon A Time film, but that's me for you). Thank-you for the heads-up on the new documentary-to be totally honest, I wasn't aware of it. I will definitely watch it!
