U right about neptune. the Legio XI was a naval corp before converted into a land army. About the "socks", mostly of them using loden or felt, the will keep the foot warm. is working very well. they will going be wet, but warm ;-).

They're Roman Marines obviously, Fight in Land and Sea. That is the Roman Marine Legionnaire Motto. Semper Fidelis Roman Marines, just kidding. The Standard does have the God Neptune on it? It is Neptunes Legion, so they got to have the blue color and with pitchforks would look cool also, Neptune would be proud of his Marines. No but really, Scuta of the early empire was popularly depicted as being red in color, although there has been little proof that all scuta were painted red. However, one magnificently well-preserved rectangular scutum found at Dura-Europos was colored red and emblazoned with geometric patterns, winged figures, and animal motifs. Also, Similarly, there is also little evidence for the designs painted on scuta, although depictions from Trajan’s Column suggest that eagle-wing and thunderbolt motifs were used. But whatever the reason, we will never truly know but it looks cool and lets just have fun with it, and blue would make sense if Neptune is in the Standard.

What legatus you mean? I see only a centurio, a optio, and some legionaires... ;)

@@CrazyHunter-by4dx to tell you the truth I'm only guessing because I would have considered the fellow with the transverse crest a Centurion or so called Primus Pilus eventually (?) but the other with the straight crest who would he be, a normal Centurion?

@@paoloviti6156 Primus Pilus was called the highest Centurion of a legion, and were the Centurion of the first Cohorte of a legion. The one with the straight crest is a Optio, and is one step lower as an Centurion, what can be seen also as "the right hand" of an Centurio.

Vielen Dank. Sie meinen die Übungen? Einiges ist belegt, aber vieles auch nicht :-). Zb dass die vorderste Linie gewechselt hat ist belegt, aber wie genau ist nicht dokumentiert, darum wird da auch experimentiert. Oder die lat. Befehle, die Römer habe Latein gesprochen, aber welche Befehle genau, wissen wir nicht. Wir verwenden antikes Latein und lassen die Sätze durch Spezialisten prüfen und korrigieren, aber es sind Befehlsannahmen. Es gibt zwar Belege aus dem 4. und 5. Jahrhundert nC, wir stellen aber ca 90 nC, und eine Zeitspanne von ungefähr 10-20 Jahren (von der Ausrüstung her).

Die Legio XI war tatsächlich eine Marineeinheit in den früheren Jahren, bevor sie zu einer Landeinheit umgeformt wurde.

@@legioxicpfswitzerland1520 ah cool :D hatte ich also richtig getippt mit den farben... behielt die legion dann die blauen schilde bei oder wurden diese dann, als sie zur landeinheit wurde, rot? rein aus interesse... :)

das mit den farben wissen wir nicht mehr so genau. sicher war nicht alles rot wie in filmen

@@legioxicpfswitzerland1520 das ist mir schon bekannt dass die filme oft sehr weit ab der wirklichkeit sind. dass die schilde nicht alle rot waren ist mir auch klar, dennoch gab es in den legionen doch eine gewisse uniform, was die mehrheit der truppen der jeweiligen gattun oder legionen ausgeteilt bekam (auxiliar schilde, kavallerie, verschiedene legionen, republikanische und imperiale schilde usw...) habe mich jahrelang sehr fuer die römische geschichte interessiert und intensiv damit befasst. hab nur gefragt da reenactment gruppen oft noch mehr wissen als ich ueber ganz spezifische sachen der legion die sie vertreten. wie das mit der geschichte der XI dass es eine marineeinheit war, wusste ich zb nicht :D
